  • Is it necessary to comment "OH BOB SAGET" on every video about tourettes?

  • LISTEN: He Says Associated Disorders.... OCD AHD Thought Disorder and Learning Disabilities... These are what my son was on medications for. As This Doctor is saying... Medications may be necessary if the tics are inturrupting say, the persons education setting. This is how it was for my son for several years, disability staus of OHI other health impaired. When his tics weren't so evident, in school he was allowed to stand up, diliver notes to the office etc. Bryce was doing so good...

  • I went to elementary school with someone who hat tourette's and they were just like everyone else except the fact that they threw extremely violent temper tantrums and basically did whatever they could to destroy everything in their path no matter how well they were restrained.

  • WHO'S THE FAGGOT WITH THE TUBA!?!?!?!?!?!

  • continued... it actually isnt something to joke up. it is just like any other diease. it is hard on the person who suffers from it and everyone else gets laughs out of their missery.

everyone has something worng with them NO ONE is perfect however other people may not be as visible as someone with tourettes. so before you judge or laugh make sure you know what you are doing. because the person who does have it did not ask for it...

  • @laurencloe1 you are right,,,,me for example, i have a crooked penis....but girls like it, cause i get to the most hidden angles with it...:-)...it's definitly something to joke up, because its better then being a hypcrite by saying" ohn no, its not disturbing me"...who wouldn't be disturbed, having someone around shouting: Fuckyou, you pecker licking shitbag"..or similar, lol...you definitly shit ur pants, cant avoid it, at least in the beginning, the key is, not to exclude them nevertheless

  • @laurencloe1 Quote, its a disorder, not a disease. By the way i have tourettes, you're totally right as well, people who laugh at me, end up being scared of me, cause i just tell them to fuck off... (plus when i tell them to fuck off, i through in a few fake spasims which scare them, and they run away, and yes we did not ask for it, but we have it, its our life, and we still can do anything normal people do, like me, i am joning the australian army.

  • IN order to be diagonised with TS you must have both verbal and phyical tics and you must have them for at least one year. it is more common in males however it is also in females. your could relate it to hiccups it is non controlable however if you can control it you will relase it all when you are in an area that there is no onw around.

  • i used to have those tics

  • oh...my...god....i had turrets...and i had no idea...im not even kidding

  • man im scared i might get this disease

  • @singhatar0912 it's not contagious.. if that's what you mean..

  • @peep773 what do you mean buy that

  • @singhatar0912 its not a disease its a syndrome

  • @singhatar0912 you can't get it, you're born with it.

  • @TheHunty2010 are you sure becuase i read that it happens with ages 13 to older teens

  • @singhatar0912 no,

you're born with the condition, but it only starts to show that you have it around the early teens, but it's a genetic disorder, meaning if someone in your close family has it, you could be born with it too.

  • is it true that people with(not suffering!) tourette's syndrome are commonly gifted?i mean, intelligent, something like that..thanks!!hehe

  • @antit27

it is true and not true. i have tourette and its one category from autism.

im myself gifted in music (13 years of guitar and im not getting bored at all, im very good at it and i want to learn more and more) and im also very intelligent about physics and chemistry. the things im interested, i learn everything about them very quickly and understand them perfectly, but things im not interested in for example like cars, i dont learn anything even if im teached it.

  • @reiseRi I'm glad to here that, anyway,I also have TS,I'm a flutist and I learned how to play it by just myself,my unofficial IQ is 135 but I cannot use the 100%,but I'm not good at math that much(that's the bad thing),and now I want to discover more about my talents,BTW,I cannot learn guitar whatever I do!!i find it so difficult:)

  • @reiseRi I have tourettes and aspergers... I am also - from what I am told gifted in music.. it's probably due to my type of autism.. (Aspergers).. Have you composed or thought of composing music?..

  • is it true that most people with tourettte's syndrome are commonly gifted??i mean, commonly intelligent something like that?

  • ASS!!!

  • FUCK SALT!

  • BULLSHIT!

  • people with this syndrome need to just chill out and smoke sum, a big fat blunt that is

  • Thumbs up for Tourettes People!

  • IM A CHICKEN FUCKER !

  • I Have OCD as well as major ticks which are jerking of my head and neck my shrink has never mentioned tourettes to be the cause of the ticks but i wonder if tourettes is possible in my case

  • GINGERFANNYSACK

  • OH BOBSAGGET

  • i grew out of it

  • i just wanna say FUCK!!!

  • FUCKSALT!

  • usually i just lightly shake my head or strain the muscles in my neck when my tourettes start acting up. i never scream curse words... -_-

  • Sometimes when I sitting in class at school i will have a random neck or shoulder jerk. I would jerk really hard especially with my should, with my neck not so hard. Is that some kind of tourettes?

  • Fucking bullshit !

  • lol trolls

  • poop

  • wow. there is many long comments and I dont wanna destroy that so I have to keep writing something to make this comment long but i dont even know what im gonna write but if I just keep saying this stuffs the comment will by it selfs get pretty long. its just something more i need to say to make it long. but in that meening i said it instead of writing the thing i was gonna write. now I think this will be enough. • i get the eyes blinking, snorting....went thru that stage when i was very young but outgrew it. Felt more like a habit. However, not so sure about the swearing or saying inappropriate words....seems that's at the very least questionable. u have to be thinking about those words in order for it to be "uncontrollably" blurted out.

  • "thinking about words"

What does that mean? Nerves fire in the brain in the areas where those words are 'thought", whether the person with tourettes wants them to fire or not.

Just curious, how many nerve impulses in your brain do you consciously have control over? ..wait, conscious control... what does that mean? What nerves fire to create that illusion?!

    Just say'n

  • for example, in order for someone to blurt out the n word, it has to come from somewhere right? my assumption is that it's in your head somewhere (u heard it, said it, or thought of it). Otherwise, why not blurt out something less harmful like donuts? How does tourette cause u to focus on just the bad words? Some one told me that it's bc they heard a word and made the connection to what they were seeing, hence they blurt out that word. So y not try to make a connection to a harmless word?

  • There's going to be a part of your brain that recognizes words as 'bad' or 'offensive'. It doesn't matter what words you give it, as long as it is taught that the word is bad or offensive, the association is made. Vocal tics are often nothing more than grunts or throat clearing, however in the case of extreme coprolalia, the tic is associated with the part of the brain that determines 'inappropriate language'. If that is the case, a word like donuts wont scratch the 'itch'.

  • @VegetoStevieD Thanks, did not know there's an actual physical part of one's brain that houses offensive language. Makes better sense now as to how a disorder like tourette's could focus on offensive language as opposed to any odd word. Which then begs the question for possible treatments...can this part of the brain be "switched off"? Something akin to epilepsy where this part of the brain be removed? Or is it too tied into the overall brain to go this route?

  • I don't know that there has ever been an identified part of the brain that 'houses offensive language'. Each brain may manage these concepts differently. I don't personally know if it's ever been identified. Then number of possible nerve connections in the brain are so many that it probably isn't even possible to calculate it at this time. It's always a physical anatomical phenomenon though. Psychological is only a round about way to neurological.

  • thats not true about it jus fires in the brain and cums out...wen i was younger i made loud noises ...and wen i was in school i would do it alot ..but i always think befor i do it but wen i feel like makin the noise i have to do it or i will feel weird all in my body till i do it...wen i do it i dnt got the feeln in my body no more..but i never tried to hold them back..i told everyone i have it cuz i aint ashamed of nuthin...but i controlle it very well now

  • yea ur right i used to make noices but never words..my dad used to yell at me wen i made noises..lol..and i used to stomp and i ocd with my ts and wen i stomp i have to do it with my other foot to or it will bother me really bad...i controlle it very well now....but u said u grew out of it..well its imposible to grow out of it....it can be controlled but u cnt grow out of it..

  • hmm...then i wonder if what i had was just a habit instead of tourettes. I just remember that when i was young, i had an uncontrollable urge to make snorting sounds or blink my eyes....seems that as I grew older, the compulsion became less and less until it was no longer there.

  • well u jus had sum tics..but wen i was young i used to make snorting noice to then i would have multiple tics like streching my muscles and my neck..i used to pull muscles a lot to...but i always had new tics adventuly stop the other ones...i really dnt twitch that much no more..i still tighten my eyes a lot and blink...lol..

  • @Mshortwitt i have the exact same problem. The doctors actually told me that i have tourettes so if i really do have it then i got lucky that i don't have it as bad as some other people....

  • @Mshortwitt Exactly like I was. I used to clear my throat a lot in grade school as a tic, among other things... now I'm almost 20, and I still have random tics like compulsively stretching my arm, stretching my legs while walking, twitching my shoulders and arms everywhere I go (that's lucky because it's usually not very noticeable), and sometimes jerking my neck and cracking my knuckles. It's fairly manageable, but I find it distracting when I'm trying to stop myself from doing it...

  • @JadedTrojan i still stretch my arms and jerk my neck....i clear my throat a lil still..and i dnt kno if its a tic but i keep forcing my self to yawn..lol..i will be 19 on my 19th...but my tics dnt stop me..google me..lol..google goerie mike witt throws a no hitter....oo ya..did u kno that chris johnson that plays for titians in the nfl has it to..

  • My friend has Tourettes Syndrome. His eyes are constantly blinking and moving. He also shakes his arms a lot.

  • Mine too. He blinks really hard.

  • BOB SAGGET

  • Lol, you the only one that understands me.

  • my friend has torrets

  • MEXICAN STINK BALLS

  • PISS IN MY ASS!

  • ASS!

  • cigarettes slows the blood flow to your brain and, cuts off some oxygen which allows your motor control system to be at ease ...Which is why and im not sure, but i believe they now use medical marijuana to help control the ticks, but feel free to correct me if im wrong.

  • yeah, and i've really heard about the effects of the cigarettes in other matters :D i say you've got a point there :D

  • medical marijuana isn't always smoked.

  • Medical Marijuana would be a good treatment for someone with the condition, or at least it would be in my opinion. It slows the firing of your neurons, so to speak, as it's a depressant but also a stimulant.

  • i had tourettes when Brazil lost the fifa world cups >_> and so did everyone around me lol

  • I've acted like tourette for 4 days in school pauses. Now i think i really have it !!

    Damn, fucking asshole !

  • if u act like torrettes guy for 1 year, you have it... In 5 seconds of that video i knew he was crazy.

  • I blink and grunt.

  • i might have it

  • my tick makes me twitch and blink.

  • gratulations

  • hm...ich can´t belive how a illness like this must be :( but i hope for all of u that u be health ;)

  • This video really taught be a lot. I would give it 100%

  • also to add mine i can hide cuz mine is voiceless and i have a mild case so its pretty easy to hid unless like i said i get worked up or me emotions gets in the way

  • yes it takes time to learn how to hid it sometimes it starts going so crazy i cant hid it.. but it only happens when i get nervous or pissed ect just when my emotions get the best of me.. but it doesnt effect my social life at all i have many freinds i have had my share of girls... sports it doesnt really affect them... i play soccer, disc golf and pool. u would thing with twitches it would be hard to play disc golf or pool.. but actualyl i am very good at them i love playing them...

  • i have tourettes as well

for me i make wat i call a clown face cuz it looks like a clown

i open my eyes really wide, sometimes my eye brown raise up, my arm twitches, and my leg twiches... but mine is not bad i have learned how to make it really unnoticable,,,, my freinds that no i have it i told and they didnt belive me cuz i have to that good at hiding it.. i tell the ones i am comfiortable with noing and im like just watcht then they see and believe me, but all u other people like me

  • my tics are grunting, pulling my arm, putting my head back, sqweeking, scratching my nose, skipping, turning, repeating words, stuttering, having to push on my stomach, blinking, pushing my lips out, andd some that just randomely come

  • It is like an itch... you know it isn't something you HAVE to scratch, and you can NOT scratch it, but if you had itches all the time and never scratched them, you'd go nuts... so sometimes you just do your tick

  • That's exactly what it feels like. And a lot of times if you don't control it consciously, you just do it. I've found that meditation and staying busy helps me.

  • OH BOB SAGET!

  • @GeorgeGEO36

    LOL !!!

  • @GeorgeGEO36 the tourrets guy is awsome

  • I had it sence I was born. Its like a lifestyle for me!

  • Good luck Raond11, i can be your second friend

  • I have 6 tics :( shaking head. Neck movement. shaking. fingers. sounds with my mounth. Jumping

I only have 1 friend because of tourettes, some people are hiting me and call me frog.

  • Wait like a tick as in bug or like getting angry???

  • no as in a bug, tourettes is a bug that goes up your ass and makes you do shit you dont want to do without control.

  • As in a random movement.

  • eye blinking twitch here

  • i found out that i can control my tics a little bit by doing the things i love... for example, when playing the guitar, i feel like im in my own zone where as im more calm and thus less ticcy.

  • I've found the only time I can truly control my tics is when I smoke cigarettes.

  • thats what my friend does (he has it)

  • I used to have the Blinking Eye twitch. Raising Eye Brow twitch. Toe Stretching Twitch. Nose Flare Twitch. Neck Stretching Twitch. Neck Cracking Twitch. Hand Stretching Twitch. Mouth Stretching Twitch. Lats Stretching Twitch (Wings in your back). I'm Glad My Twitches Are Gone Except 1 That I'm On Now Which Is The Mouse Clicking Twitch.Clicking The Left And Right Button At The Same Time. LOL Just So You Folks Know. You Are Not Alone.

  • AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I want to see a video of you!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH XD XD XD XD XD HAHAHAHAAH XD XD XD

  • Lol i have the ''Clicking The Left And Right Button At The Same Time Twitch''

  • I had that too O.o

  • @Lisaloves1122 i had all of those too,how long did u have them?

  • @Lisaloves1122 I have a twitch in my face, eye, and a compulsive grunt, that most people consider swearing when i am all like "OHHHH ARRRRRGGGG YOU SON OF A BITCH ILL KILL YOU! *TWITCH TWITCH TWITCH*"

  • i shake my head a lot, it started when i had long hair and used to shake it out after the shower, which is REALLY weird in my opinion because it started via a daily routine. A surprising number of people in my school have tics

  • i always drum my fingers and bounch my leg and i swer all the time and im only 12

  • Not all kids grow out of it.....

    I haven't and I'm 29

  • what is your movement

  • I'm 31 I still have it as well

  • I like how this dr. points out that a lot of kids grow out of it. Of course it is important to adress the more severe cases, but it is often assumed that every case is as severe. So it is important that if you have a child who may have a milder form, to remember that it is not as devestating as one may think.

  • The only treatment i give myself is hitting the bottle. The worse they are the more i drink.

  • wrong move

  • Well, I use Catapres and it works great for me. It took off about 80% to 85% of my tics. I shake my head as a tic, and back in July of 08 I was shaking so much, getting headaches and it was to the point that I started to cry. It was relentless. Now, even though I still tic a lot, I get less headaches and it never gets to the extent of tears. Catapres may not work for lots of people, but still try it just in case it works for you.

  • If anyone with tourette's is thinking about taking Catapres, as he said in the video. I'd have to recommend against it. They put me on that stuff and all it really did for me was make me "brown" out. ... There are some other side effects I don't really want to get into, but sometimes the "cure" is worse than the "disease".

Just a heads up... unless you have severe tourette's, I'd steer clear of catapres.

  • Everybody has habbits, its the people with no will power that just keep doing them.

Since when is a disease cured by somebody convincing the person to stop doing the symptoms of the disease? (AKA therepy)

  • your an idiot. everyone has habbits, i hum when im bored, i don't say "F^#K" in my daughters classroom because i have no will power. the feeling of an on comming tic is very similar to "restless leg syndrome" (which i had when i was pregnant) most of the time you catch it before it comes out, but as soon as you relax ( get in the car after work or lay down to go to sleep) it starts comming out.

  • idiot.. I have tourettes and i CANT just stop saying noises and stuff like that....

  • I got diagnosed with TS,ADHD combined Type, odd & CD. Yesterday 22-1-08 Iam a 17 year old girl i have just passed my chidcare course cert 3. Now i am gonna do my diploma this year. The tic's i have are all Complex and some simple ones. thanks this vid is great helped a lot. i take med's for TS, ADHD only.

  • Kali Angel really needs some positive support. Here is a video we made when she had a visit to the Hospital for a breathing test. This 9 year old girl with Tourette Syndrome is working hard to be successful in school and in her career. He dream is to be a famous singer songwriter and she is in vocal music lessons but she needs to raise the funds to continue.

    Brightest Blessings

  • thanks. I've had the symptoms since I was 10 but hadn't done anything about it until recenly because I am now 19 years old and it's just gotten worse as years have gone on.

  • Wow im the same, am 19 also, i remember the throat clearing thing from when i was little and i think it went. Then when i was on holiday when i was about 13/14 i had this massive bout of tick from blinking to grimacing. Now its like everything but its mild. And the passed year or so ive started abdominal tensing. It changes alot for me.

  • well, with me, it's blinking and jerking my head and my arms. it's really hard because I just gave myself neck strain for the first time with a tic and it's affecting me as a college student. I also have my neck tense which I've been told might also be a tick and it takes my breath away. I don't know really anyone personally that has tourettes, but now I'm meeting people online and it's really nice to know that I'm not a freak or something.

  • I'm 19 too, haha. I discovered recently that I have tourette's, but it's been going on since I was 5. Do you know of any ways to relieve the ticks? It's very hard to deal with in class for me too.

  • I shake my head and jerk my shoulders constantly, I also felt like a freak, nobody in my school district had it. It's nice to find out ur not alone/a freak. Someone once told me that u could get this documentary and that PBS gave it to schools to watch. Maybe that could help.

  • Great video,A+++

  • thank you - as a parent whose child is currently being investigated for Tourettes, this is very helpful and reassuring.
