Gotta' love it. My RX-7 has been immensely reliable, only leaving me stranded when I break drive train parts due to power. Just checked the odometer in the parking lot and it reads 271,754. Rebuilt the engine to port it 7 years ago (about 240,000 on the odometer), the housings still looked new inside and for the past 4 years it has put out just over 500 RWHP. Driven almost daily in the good weather
I REALLY HATE THE ASSOCIATION OF THE LE MANS BY BANNING THE ROTARY ENGINE POWERED RACE CARS LIKE THE MAZDA 787B by the way i love the RX7 than the ferrari
years ago I had a crappy, rusty, slow 1987 FC GXL, and it was the most reliable car I've ever driven, 3 years and it never failed me one day, and let me tell you every time I left a light that thing got shifted above redline.
now I have a V8 FC, not because I don't like rotary's, just because I felt like building it. I'll have another rotary powered rx7 soon enough.
we were kicked out of Le Mans racing cause we had an unfair "weight advantage"......we just have a better built can in general......my fc is slowly in the process of becoming a track can .....what a shame, so few no on the streets ;(
welcome to the rotary community, we welcome all enthusiats, just not evo owners, all they ever do is talk trash and cant drive for shit since the computer does everything and they always talk about how great their car is and how much they hate rotaries... lol
Yes I own a FC3S. In a 100,000 miles the only thing I had to replace was the alternator. Their is a guy on the forum and his lasted almost 300k. Stock reliability is threw the roof. As far as modifications go if you boost anything past stock PSI shit is bound to fuck up. Can you boost a rotary as high as a piston NO will it function for a lifetime if cared for properly YES.
My FC has 230,000 miles on it, the engine is coming close to a rebuild, once I got it and fixed what was wrong, it's been very reliable, aside from minor 20 year old car issues.

Well at least we know what the superior engine is now, since it's been banned for "unfair advantage".

oh man! S13 at 0:12. I own a 240sx, but I really like FC's. The rotary engine intrigues me, I've read a lot on it, and I still want to learn more.

That was the year that Mazda won the 24 Hours Of LeMans with the Mazda 787B that had a Rotary 26B engine.
The only japanese car brand that ever won LeMans...
I have a 1991 Mazda Miata and I used to race with it. I had a 13B from an RX7 FC in it.
Now I want to buy the 1993 or 1995 13B-REW engine.
I love the V8s, but just for joyride...
For racing, Mazda Rotary engines are the best.

I owned one of those for 18 years and I never had any trouble at all with mine. And, although I took good car of it, I ran the tar out of it too.
My experience matches that commercial to a T.

its ironic that this tries to state that the RX7 is reliable. that is one thing that it isn't with that wankel!

Only lasting 79,000 miles? Wow, either you are running WAYY too high PSI for your shitty rebuilds, or they are just shitty all around.
130,000+ if you do it right.
Draelren 3 years ago
Do you even own a Rotary powered car? How do you know that they aren't reliable?
