  • hey can you remove the ball from its holder thingy?

    thanks alot for this tutorial

  • Okay, so I did everything the video specified on a curve 8330. Problem is, the chrome ring won't just "snap back into place"! How do I fix it?!

  • thank you sooooooo much

  • Is this for 8220 too?

  • I have cleaned mine once or twice this way, and it works better... for a while. Ultimately, you really need to take the trackball completely apart --- which means taking it out, and then releasing the metal retaining clip to drop the ball out AND the 4 magnetic geared rollers --- because those get hair, fuzz, and dirt wrapped around them, and no amount of cleaning solution will get it out.

  • Haha I Just Put my lips Around the track ball and started to Suck So the dust comes out and it worked fine :D

  • I was surprised at how easy this was to do.

  • Thanks a lot GoGazelle, this simple procedure fix my Blackberry Curve 8330 that failed to scroll up. Thanks again!!!

  • This procedure fix my Blackberry Tackball.

  • thank you very much, I was getting worry I could only go left to right, no up and down. I followed your instructions, and when I removed the tracking ball right under there was a BIG piece of lint and dust, I removed the lint whith twizers and I used some compress air, cleaned the tracking ball with acetone since I dont have rubbing alcohol put it all back carefully and it works perfect thank you very much !!

  • Thank you very much!!! this REALLY helped, but i think eventually i'll buy a new trackball if this continues though, it worked for me when i couldnt scroll up, i only had my blackberry curve 8330 since november, this has happened a few times, i try not to touch it when my fingers are greasy because i know it gets in there.

  • This worked for me.....my Blackberry is almost three years old, and now I can keep using it until I'm ready to switch my phone plan. Thanks Guy!!

  • hey kindly write the solutionz name u used n where i can find these....plz

  • @RaRo341 It is a lens cleaning solution. Any alcohol solution will work however

Buena suerte

  • I removed my track ball and ran it under hot water and a tiny dab of dish soap and worked the ball around with my finger as I ran it under water then dryd it out for about 20min now it works perfectly

  • please help i have a black berry curve 8320, i have a problem , my tract ball is fine , however under the tract ball is a dome , that has come off, and i hope can be replace - no one online is covering this subject- can you help its a metallic dome -under the tract ball that allows you to push down on tract ball -please help

  • I just took it to the shop :D the actual trackball had broke

  • heres what worked for me, i noticed w/ a magnifying glass each corner roller iz magnetic and loaded w/ debree, lots of metal, welding and grinding crud.

compressed air did nothing, i folded a piece of tape and used the sticky side to slide over the each roller, you'll see the crud stick to the tape, a little pressure works for the heavier metal watch you don't break the roller. This fixed the tracking to a blistering white nuckle speed, it didn't address the track ball press DOWN feature.

  • @Cazador42265 nice technique!

  • where do you get the solution? can you use rubbing alcohol?

  • @ROFLitZjEffReY Yes, rubbing alcohol would work. Mine is lens cleaner from a camera store.

  • @GoGazelle does it clean just as good as solution?

  • @ROFLitZjEffReY yes, it works

  • hey dude i wanna know what's the another solution that you used?? Uline or something like that ? i hope your answer

  • @henderj92 It is a lens cleaner solution for SLR cameras and lenses. It is isopropyl alcohol and water I think.

  • hey dude i wanna know what's the another solution that you used?? Uline or something like that ? i hope your answer

  • hey dude i wanna know what's the another solution that you used?? Uline or something like that ? i hope your answer

What is that substance (solutions) you rubbed on there anyways..Rubbing Alcohol?

  • @GoGazelle -Awesome Thanks...I happened to have some of that too..Peace.

  • thanks man!

  • I love you Anthony!!!!!!

  • @kmr15mhs thx!!!!!!!!!!

  • There is one cheap and easy method of getting a problem trackball to work. It sounds like magic but it really does work and costs nothing more than a few pieces of blank. white paper. Turn off the Blackberry, put it face down on the pieces of paper and then rapidly move the Blackberry around, as if you are erasing a pencil drawing. The trackball will often start working again as the gunk is dislodged from the trackball. You can even reuse the paper afterward! :)

  • @cavanuk man you really rock!!! thanks a lot!!!

and you were right!!! i reuse te paper!! hahaha

nice one thanks for help !

  • @cavanuk This worked!! Thank you soooo much! :)

  • You should make sure and emphasize how important it is to be very gentle when doing the pry step... I broke my shit twice now...

  • I cant get the silver ring out (step one) Please help

  • @fredvn695 get a plastic pry tool pry it off, or try a small flat head screw driver. Just be careful because the ring is fragile. Start from the back of the ring and put the tool in deep then gently pry it off.

  • Thanks a lot my friend. You saved me from buying a new phone.

    U Rockkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. God Bless.

  • @saurav686 No problem mate! Glad to help

  • dude it worked great! thanks!

  • @dAju1c3man welcome, glad to help!

  • Thank you! My forced air happened to be me blowing on it, but it still worked, and I really appreciate the time you took to film this! Mine was going sideways and up but not down, and now it goes all directions again! Whew.

  • @leonbuck2t2 same thing happens for me , goes all way but down.. :(

  • @leonbuck2t2 Same Happens to me , goes on all directions except down....

  • yo gogazelle, u think this might work if you really have to press hard on the ball?? bacause i have all those problems dude. please respond =) and wher u get the spray can? haha

  • i must have done something wrong this didnt work for me! actually it made it worse. I went from having a hard time scrolling right to not i can barely go up or down and when i push the ball it it thinks im typing "a"

  • ahh thank you for goodadvice, now phone shall work happily :D

  • thanks man that was very useful

  • @ronin99999 welcome!

  • lol at the geek clock

  • dude this is like the best video

  • your vid sure helped. Thank you!!!!!!

  • it works ALOT better now Thanks

  • @KCB410 glad to help!

  • great help! i actually had to go a step beyond and disassemble the track ball because i had swab fibers and dirt wrapped around the stem of the magnetic roller. it was not difficult but you have to pay close attention to be sure to pot it back to gether properly

  • nothing happen!! :(

  • Life Saver. Thought I would have to get a new phone, didn't know it was so simple. Thanks a lot.

  • the teardrop tip is what helped me.

you saved me!!! thank you so much

  • Thanks, got my ball rollin like new! I thought I was screwed and was gonna have to buy a new ball.

  • thanks

  • @gachustla no problem!

  • Nice job. I can put off dropping money on the bold for a few more months. 3 Years of pocket lint jammed up my system pretty badly.

  • I got mine working. the orientation is clearly explained. the use of word tear drop or light blub helps to put it back. great job!!!

  • @darkcloud109 Thanks, glad it worked for you

  • I had a Blackberry Pearl (CDMA) version; I used the technique shown in the video and the trackball started working well. I used denatured spirit and did not used any air can; instead allowed the items to completely dry in air for 30 min. Sincerely thanks for showing the technique,

  • my trackball does not go up anymore pls help thank u

  • Worth mentioning is that this simple solution will probably work fine! Do NOT take apart the trackball assembly unless you have very small, delicate hands or you are a BB tech. Despite helpful inxs elsewhere (and the frequent use of the word "just" as in "just snap the assembly back together"), it is very difficult to work with parts this small and without a magnifying glass (if your eyes are old like mine). Wish I had stuck with the simple fix here.

  • ok i have a blackberry curve the exact same one in the vid the red one. ok i just had my trackball replaced like 3 weeks ago, now it wont register a "click" And i did what you showed us how to do in the vid and imm super pissed cuz its a brand new phone.... Any Suggestions..

    Thanks

  • @alexsteel01 You can try to return it, or purchase a new trackball on ebay.

  • @GoGazelle yeah but i just got a new trackball

  • Easy to follow and worked like a charm. Well done!

  • @Cruiser7 Thanks, glad to help u out!

  • ACHTUNG! This will NOT work on the Curve 8900!!

  • oh shit, it worked. =)

  • @jaimeg123prmt NIiiiiiice!!!!

  • would this process work for the 8900?

  • @hooman No, you have to fully disassemble your phone.

  • can you do the same procedure with the tour?

  • Clear, concise, detailed and easy to follow instructions. Thanks so much!! You saved me much frustration...

  • my trackball sticks in one direction

  • @EthanDta Try a new trackball or firmware upgrade. You can also try to pop out the actually trackball and put it in alcohol. Good luck, you may be better off buying a new trackball

  • Worked like a charm. Thanks!!

  • glad to assist!

  • Great job Anthony I love you.

  • Thanks!!!

  • Thanks, very detailed and explained and shown very well. Done this and it fixed the problem of not being able to scroll upward, could only scroll left to right and down. Thanks again high 5.

  • No problem at all mate!

  • This totally worked! Thanks for saving me a trip to the Verizon store and all of the shenanigans that goes with it. You rule!

  • Glad to help

  • will this work with a 8900

  • No it will not. The 8900 is very similar to our Tour 9630 fix. Check out our channel for the video

  • so i tried what you did except i had minus the air canister. It was only able to go up and to the sides not down now it cant go up really unless i try that 2 finger fast shuffle thing going up.. i'm thinking i might have to try recleaning it a couple times / replace the ball. I found that there was random dandruff and stuff in it..

  • Is he wearing a calculator watch???

  • Origo Traverse Peak

  • hey, i just got a curve 8310 from you guys, and the track ball is really loose. ii just got it today, so what should i do?

  • same here... except with my 8330, i purchased from them 2 weeks ago

  • i just tried what you showed.performance of te trackball is definely better now.thanks a lot.

  • Glad to help :)

  • you are awsome thanks for sharing

  • Very welcome

  • didn't work...what do i do now?

  • Firmware update first...then a new trackball unit if FW update does not fix

  • what about for the 8900?

  • U the man my trackball is back working thanks!

  • anytime!

  • anyone know how to remove these from mytouches?

  • Thanks man. I LOVE YOUTUBE!!!

  • Glad to help!

  • so will this method make my trackball scroll again because it will not scroll left

  • It should, give it a try. Let me know if it works for you.

  • how bout if u scroll down but it goes up??

  • Try a software update

  • how can i update if i cant scroll? xD j/w

  • Try a new trackball unit.

  • were can i get a new trackball for a 8900

  • hi. i have a blackberry pearl. and my scroll ball dosent click like it is supposed to. so i have to use the enter button on the bottom. any ideas on how to fix this?-- thanks

  • Time for new trackball I think, also a firmware update would not hurt either. Good luck

  • okay. thanks for your time.

  • My ball would not roll up or down,i use a Q-tip and alcohol and rub it on the ball real good..yea it started working

  • hi my track ball feels greasy. how would i make it feel more rough.

  • Try cleaning it with a harsh abrasive like ajax or clorox. Could always sand it a bi with a low grit paper, just be careful as it could alter the scrolling process. Best bet is to purchase a new on on eBay for around 7-8 bux. Good luck

  • Sometimes when i scroll up and down or while i'm texting my trackball always seems to select on it's own. So i always seem to send messages when i'm not done writing yet or while i'm scrolling on my applications or music it just selects out of nowhere. Could this procedure maybe solve the problem that i am having? Let me know! Thanks! -Davin

  • It may fix the problem, but it does sound more software related. Try updating your phone with the BB desktop manager and see if that helps. Let me know...good luck!

  • Okay i'll try it and get back to you. Thanks! :)

  • MUHAHAHAHA!!!! I can now over power my phone!!! Thanks alot!!! :*D U svaed me from killing it Say thank you Emo Owl.

    Emo Owl: Thanks.

Yeah that right, you better. Haha. Thanks again.

  • Thanks so much man i thought my phone wasnt gonna work anymore

  • Very welcome

  • sorry i hve no videos beacuse i did alone.... so sorry

  • my trackball doesnt move down as well as in the other directions... what can i do?

    please help me

by the way my english is very bad

    thanks

  • thx for the video, but i dont use this.... i open my trackball and is more easy, but be carefull with the silver piece...

  • thanks..the orientation of the parts had me confused, but you solved that and parts went right in!!

  • You made that really simple. Thanks so much!

  • Glad to help!

  • Thanks!!

  • You are very welcome!

  • My trackball is dirty, like it's not as white as i would like it, is it possible to whiten it up?

  • i had problem with my track also, i couldnt move down rest are ok.. i cleaned it and fiddled around works perfect after! thanks for this clip!! 5 star!

  • No problem, glad to help

  • Thanks,,pvp

  • welcome!

  • Wow thanks! I just bought a 8830 from you guys! Thanks this helped sooo much!

  • Hey thanks! It works on my Blackberry Curve 8900 with the Windex solution. Just move the "Back button" and "Applications" button aside by prying it with your fingers. You must have nails though and then use a q-tip with Windex and clean it all around. It should work! :D Thanks GoGazelle!

  • Nice work, glad I could help

  • Thanks!

  • Welcome!

  • i tried everything said in this video and my trackball still wont go down

is there something wrong with my trackball other than being dirty?

  • It may be time for a new trackball. Try to pop out the actual ball and submerge in alcohol. Let dry and reinstall. Also try to upgrade your phone software, this may help too. Trackballs eventually just crap out, hence why all new BlackBerry phones will use the new optical trackpad. Good luck

  • thank you

  • what kind of cleaning solution?

  • any type, try pure alcohol. It works best. I am using one made to clean camera lenses. You could also use windex too. Just apply with qtip and do not saturate ball in solution

  • Thank you so much. I was able to get my pearl rolling again thanks to you.

  • You are very welcome, glad to help!

  • thanks!!!!
