  • well, that did my head in....

  • Yeah the racist animators Portraying White girls as fat only one third or so are obese in the usa.

  • Obviously racist against hippos.

  • What racism?

  • This is a satire of Uncle Toms Cabin. those who are jumpin on old cartoons just because they refelcted an attitude of the past ,are sneaky marxist. their communist leaders back in the early ninties told them to go after classic cartoons as a part of conquering and dividing, and hiding behind childrens skirts to convice you were a biggot if you watched these cartoons. no your not. It's like watching the films of 33 to 45

  • Why is this racist when all I see in this cartoon is that there using animals? Strange, cartoon an very old. I think tweeny's is more racist lol!

  • I love how the black people actually win. refreshing

  • This is scary

  • Oh, hell, get a life! Who ISN'T caricatured/stereotyped in cartoons??

  • you guys are all ignorant if you think this shit is alright and not racist.

  • I think this cartoon is great. It is too bad you want to look at the racist view. Perhaps then Black on Black crime is nothing compared with this? Get a grip there ghetto boy on a scale of 1 to 10 I think the daily killing done by your "we have the right' brothers on their own makes this look like a baby bath

  • @dasdave There was a lot of Black on Black killing, White on White killing, Black on White killing, White on Black killing, Basically people killing people killing. Don't be that naive to think that Blacks were doing the only killing and they were not killing as much as they are now. There were no gangs back then. They were more united back then. It got bad in the 70's when Crack was introduced to the neighborhoods on purpose.

  • Is this a Max Fleischer cartoon? I love him. Also, was that Bing Crosby singing at the beginning?

  • U dumb racist bastards..the north pole symbolize the northern states because it was antslavery..yes this cartoon is racist..so u ignorant mf u need to pick up a history and fucking read..of course some of u other races out that cant comprehend no understand..everything aint funny u bitch ass devil worshipers.

  • @MsPenny85

wtf rasism is inda funny XD

  • the only reason you could think this wasn't racist is because it's BASED off of Uncle Tom's Cabin... it's a racist version of Uncle Tom's Cabin. which doesn't even make sense. >.<

  • What a great cartoon!!!!!! Funny funny funny!!!!!

But a negro family would never run to the North Pole. They are tropical creatures. They would run to the equator. You see negros with those big bumblebee jackets and hoods on even when it's about 95 degrees out.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Stupid comment....FAIL:/

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE the fuck is your problem!??

  • @cbaggage Your mom's vagina is too big and sloppy. Other than that everything is AOK.

    Anything else?!

  • Modern cartoons suck, this old shit was the best! But I don't get how this is racist...

  • The Uncle Tom in this cartoon was a smelly, lazy ass nigger who deserved an old fashioned, white man's plantation whipping. YEEESSS SUUUUUUHHHHHH!!!!!!

  • @SmilingMelvin Are you serious or smiling Melvin?

  • @SmilingMelvin LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • That cartoon's not racist -- it's sexist ... portraying a fat, white girl as a hippo!

  • Hahaha

  • In the song that starts about 4 minutes, is the singer Paul Robeson?

  • @Bathfire1 I don't think so. It's a great song. I'm gonna try and check further on it.

  • @klezmando

I Googled "Lord you made the night too long" but I don't think it's either Armstrong or Lombardo

  • i get it! the black things are monkeys (also a slang term for black ppl) and there running from the slave onwer and there forth headed to the NORTH pole

  • Okay in the first couple of minutes I see two or three monkeys a hippo and a dog...

  • This is so racist the white people are hippos tut tut for shame......

  • "We're goin' back to Dixie hooray! hooray!

Hooray! Hooray! We're goin' back to Dixie!" 6:00-6:17

Uh, weren't they trying to escape from there which is why they went up to The North Pole on an ice float in the first place?

  • @cha5

But dey den founds out they be no reliefs. Sew we gots to get fo de reliefs moneys an theys be nicer fo sho in de South.

  • racist? I dont see any blacks or minorities in this. They are animals. NONSENCE!

  • @ramblergarage

its funny how whites will go any length to say "oh this is not racist"

guess what , ya dont get to decide

  • @sayanroy36 and you do??????????????NOT!

  • @ramblergarage

i never made any claims...UNLIKE YOU

  • @sayanroy36 you certainly implied it! get a life!

  • @ramblergarage

oh really?your the one without a life trying to make implications about unsaid statements. again- you dont get to decide what might seem racist & whats not to a minority

  • @sayanroy36 It's funny how the people who cry "racist" are always the most racist.

  • @Bogframe

yeah true, like internet hipsters finding non-existent 'racism against whites' everywhere, and yet IN DENIAL about clearly bigoted things, like this cartoons

btw, how did you jump to that conclusion about me? you know me or something??! if not, all i can say is you'r a fuckin moron to say some without proof

  • @sayanroy36 this "cartoons" is a condemnation of slavery. If you think that's racist, maybe you need to go back to school. As for how I jumped to that conclusion, your reply show's I'm far from a moron.

  • @Bogframe

condemnation of slavery!! my my who would think that you probably have a less derogatory way of portraying blacks in the first place. amusing!!

also uess what, first thing about racism, YOU DONT get to decide what is and isnt offensive to a minority, see you aint our masters anymore.

and btw for argument's sake lets say i "cry racism". that still doesnt answer how you know im racist inside ! so you fail in both ways

  • hey guys whats the point? whites should of never brung us to america in the first place. and there tellin us go bak to africa. they taught there kids that were bad and we didnt do anything. thats america's fault.

  • was that uncle tom's cabin at the beginning? lol

  • That cowboy(?) with the whip....they forgot to draw him a THINGY!!!!

  • @ohbrilliant Boy your user name is a misnomer. You're not brilliant at all. You're stupid. The man with the whip is not a cowboy. He's Simon LeGree, the evil overseer who chased Little Eva across the river to bring her back to the plantation. Read the actual story of Uncle Tom's Cabin. It was not meant as a diatribe against blacks, but an indictment against slavery. President Lincoln told Harriet Beecher Stowe, the author of the book, "so you're the little lady who started this war."

  • We NEED racism. Vive le Difference!

  • @copewood333 im sure you dont like someone saying shit about you

  • this cartoon is POLITICALLY INCORRECT. maybe you should get a DICTIONARY before you go throwing around words like "racist"

  • It's a cartoon version of Uncle Tom's Cabin - an abolitionist (anti-slavery) classic - which, in the 60's was deemed racist by Marxists (Malcom X etc.) as wonderfully done, IMO as the Uncle Tom's Cabin rendition done in the King & I by the Siamese - now Thai - palace children of the King of Siam. In the King & I, the children put on the play under the tutelage of their teacher (English) who loved the King and wanted to persuade him to stop his endorsement of slavery. Ignorantly, both now un-PC.

  • this cartoon makes me thirst for watermelon!

  • There is always going to be racism as long as blacks call attention to themselves and complain--even when they have it as good or even better than other races. Ever hear of Affirmative Action, where you have to hire a black even if none are qualified for the job? Cry me a river. O' po'', po' me!

  • @catseatcheese

you are racist!!!! I hope you do not have a public job dealing with and making decisions which could effect blacks or mexicans! yoou need Jesus in your life!

  • @catseatcheese Yes, I've heard of affirmative action, which white women benefit the most from (NOT blacks)...

  • In the 1930's People think this was funny but today it would be banned on TGV and every talk show host would call it sick and disgusting.

  • All I can say is, God bless the internet. All this talk of racism, and for what? As far as I'm concerned, I'M the only one who can judge whether something offends me or not. And this most certainly does not.

  • @GreatBigSea1968 wel, normally im not offended by racist things if they r tru, for example colombians and drug smuggling (im central american btw) i dont really feel too offended about that cuz it is tru for the most part. the ratio of fatherless black families to white families is also a generally tru stereotype. if blacks dont like it they should change themselves to not fit the description insted of preachin "white racism"

  • yeah it's pretty racist. No MATTER how "Cute" this film is.

  • that was not racist at all . If anything it was pro-black

  • how was this racist? family guy, american dad, drawn together, the cleveland show , south park are all far worse than this

  • Excellent old cartoon! Not all that racist, the slaver gets bonked in the happy end : )

  • wow!! this is so sad,,,but i still like classic cartoons(:

  • I love early animation, no matter what the subject.

  • This is quite similar to another Van Buren cartoon "Uncle Tom and Little Eva."

  • its racist against white dogs

  • I understand what some ppl are saying "oh this doesn't advocate slavery" it's more about the imagery. If some of these people would take a look at the history of our country and how blacks are depicted maybe they would understand.

  • @pseudolover tl;dr

  • Qi merda!!!

  • The song number starting at 338 is very Max Fleisher like in imagery and sound.

  • Animals can't be racist.

  • I LUVES IT! Yes suh!

  • Uncle Tom goes to the North Pole???? What a concept!

  • In the book Eliza, husband George and son flee to canada. You should really check out the book. Great read, but very, very sad and disturbing.

  • This is anti-racist

The viewer is meant to symphasize with the good-natured and jolly black family, wheras the slaveowner is a scary, threatening man (dog) with a whip. He is obviously made out to be the villan.

Most of the cartoon's set in the North Pole (`~`)

  • and the blacks look like animals. This is within a whole context. At this time there were places like "Coon Chicken Inn" using images like this, or other restaurants called "Pickininny"

  • Oh come on, this isn't racist. only a delusional person would think that. The cartoon doesn't encourage slavery, it proves it to be wrong.

  • This cartoon is just plain wrong........there ain't any penguins at the north pole!

  • I've just seen this movie and it's not about racism but oppression. The racist is the dog of course, but also they command other dogs (an army) who will be affected by the insane orders of the racist dog. Please, I've seen more racist-declared movies in the past, like Superman against the japs or Popeye at the War? Let's first determine the context and the time these movies were made, some were propaganda but also some else were kinda protests like this one.

  • well if any of you people that say stupid stuff like anything is racist and this isn't racist learn your own american history and maybe you can analyze these cartoons. this is a parody of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" a book that told of the horrors of slavery.

    LOOK IT UP.

O and i am black thought i let u know.

  • uncle toms cabin was about the horrors of the racial south, this is a parody of that I agree, but are you claiming uncle toms cabin was a racist book? because to me it was very pro-abolishment & to claim it as being racist you'd have to say the NAACP & other fine organizations are racist also. Where's the line?

  • no uncle tom's cabin wasn't a racist book, using images of a crazy "uncle tom" or Jim Crow propaganda is what people are talking about.

  • anything can be racist to some people.

  • lol it sure is creepy

    topsy lol...

the sherif has some massive heeled boots talk about a tranny

  • Very interesting cartoon. This one re-uses footage from an earlier Van Beuren from 1930 titled: "Dixie Days" AKA "Uncle Tom and Little Eva".

  • This seemed more like an anti-racist sentiment o.o the oppressed family were the protagonists.

  • It seems an anti-racist satire opposite in intention even for the 1930's

  • I don't think it's racist

  • This wasn't racist...it's just the way it was back then.

  • This was also known as "Uncle Tom & Little Eva"

  • That character resembles dot from animaniacs

  • Originally released as a 1932 Van Beuren "Aesop's Fable" cartoon, co-directed by John Foster & Harry Bailey [and it looks and sounds like one of Paul Terry's "Terrytoons" of the period- Terry eventually reclaimed the rights to the "Aesop's Fables" title AND John Foster]...note the original end title is intact.
