I think I might play Terraria alongside your series. I've always wanted to check it out but never made the time for it. So hopefully your fanboys will keep giving you good tips and tricks that I can pick-up on as well. :)
I don't know if people have told you this yet, but you can place things from the inventory screen. You can also rebind your keys for ease of use and press left shift for the game to select the tool to use on the block your mouse is on. If you aim in the air and press shift it will select a torch. Also, that glowing purple thing is a demon altar. You use it to craft boss summoning items. Don't hit it though, it packs a nasty punch ;)

I found out the shift thing accidentally, very useful trick that is.

That guide is a jerk. He does that to everyone their first night just to shake them up a little. My advice would be to leave him in that box and make yourself a nicer house somewhere else. Also remember you can carry torches for light. ;)
@TheReverendworm I sure did! I needed a game that I could just play and record without house of prep work. Terraria sure fits the bill (after a bit of initial first time setup work). I don't think I'll get everything in Terraira any time soon. For now, I've been playing a little off camera getting more familiar and actually was up until around 2am playing it on a work night. That never happens anymore! The game is getting addicting ;)
Multi-player is really easy to set up too, you should pull a friend who plays in, Terraria is SO much more fun to play with someone else :) Thumbs if you agree, random strangers who also watch Hypno. lol
@TheCakeisAIive I generally play single player because I don't have any friends :( No, just kidding. We'll see how single player goes and if I like it I might try to find someone to play with ;)

You can get npcs in your house if you meet certain prerequisites and you have a room for them with table and chair, torches provide light when held in hand and I think when thrown on floor as well, and arro
First time I played that NPC jumped in the nearest lake and sank to the bottom. He's useful as he tells you what you can craft out of any material you have. Luckily once my house got larger he teleported from the lake bottom back to the house

@teaisloveable The support I'm receiving from everyone is amazing. Aside from a select individual, that is. I'm glad most everyone enjoys this :) People are free to like or dislike, their choice. It doesn't really bother me. Like you said though, they must realize that I can and do play other games. I probably won't play Minecraft forever because things change. I do plan on playing Minecraft for the foreseeable future though, so don't take that the wrong way ;)

The guide, contrary to popular belief, is actually very helpful, Show him a material and he'll show you all the stuff you can make with it and how. Unfortunately, you don't have what the game considers a "Home". To finish your current one you just need to put a chair in it and a torch (i don't know if the furnace counts) and the Guide will move in.
One he moves in, he'll no longer move around during the night.
@raichudoggy The guide hasn't been helpful at all to me, maybe to the monsters that want to kill me lol ;) I've started adding furnishings to the house and I think he's moved in. However he does keep walking around: in and out of the house.
Ah yes, a good train wreck for the first part, but it's all good!
Most games do better everything-wise with their default video settings, Which in this game I believe is the smallest screen size available on windowed mode...
@raichudoggy I tried it out last night at 1280x720 (720p) and I think it will be a good resoultion for uploading. The text is readable, it's wide screen and the character doesn't look too small. 1080p is just too big for this game.
@TrueNintendo Far more people liking than disliking. It's ok. They can either watch and dislike or not watch. Their choice. As long as I'm having fun and the majority want me to continue I'll keep posting ;)
This will be a good series! And by the way, just as a top, ( I hope i'm not spoiling anything), you can't use torches underwater, but you can use Glowsticks - Acquired from jellyfish/pots and many other things. :)!

Terraria was a lot of fun to play and a great game. After beating all the bosses I got bored and so dug down from the ocean and flooded the underworld. :o)

The guide is a pain for opening doors and letting in enemies. Good idea to always build him a jail he can't escape from.

I tried making a mushroom farm, apparently it is beyond *MY* comprehension. I'll probably have to find some tutorial. I thought planting shrooms on dirt/grass would work, but nope.. no go!
I have Terraria as well. The character issue with the equipment you had in the beginning. Apparently it has something to do with how you have your character, and import them between worlds. so your gear on you never changes, unless you delete the char. I"ve never actually gotten too far m'self. It just... didn't really interest me that much to play. I kept having the same problems you did with controls, it's not very intuitive.

Things to know:
The hammer can be used to take down most things you can pass through. (includes torches and platforms etc.)
The guide will tell you how to craft stuff.
You can use any item by holding picking it up from your inventory and left-clicking. This makes building much easier.
'h' is the heal shortcut.
You wont get anywhere playing this blind so use the terraria wiki.
That is all that you need to know...
