Strielok doesn't really die when he enters Wishgranter.It's not true what you see.It's an illusion.Guy from C-Conciousness explains that if you choose one of two good endings.When someone reaches Wishgranter,which is actually only ILLUSION,he receives mission from it (?). Strielok has reached WGR before,but he can't remember it. To be precise memories come back to him when he passes out in laboratories. So,he received mission to kill himself.By accident. He didn't know he is Strielok though.

@Anjunar87 Because if you do, you will get the BAD ending, and I don't want that! :P If one wants the true ending one is not supposed to even enter the chamber of Reactor 4 where this Wishgranter is located. The true ending is in another seperate room on top of the Chernobyl NPP

@MechaAkuma Actually that's not a bad ending, cuz there is a bad true ending (Strelok joining C-c), the wishgranter's endings would actually be considered bad and fake endings.

@ruan6774 You die from a lethal dose of radiation. The radition anywhere near the Wishgranter is so high that standing next to it means you die in less thana fraction of a second. Thus you cannot stand next to it for very long.

The ranking means next to nothing, its a linear storyline done up to appear non-linear so I really don't know what you could be talking about. Your PDA tells you exactly what to do and even exactly where to go.

The only thing I can think of to explain your confusion is one of the critiques of this game, a cltichy design, which can lead to quests going dead if someone dies. Of course on missions where it tells you you have to keep a certain person alive, you do have to keep that person alive.
