Tweezers? Nail clippers? LOL-I love how you use such "traditional" tools. Seam ripper? Scissors? Pchaw! No need to use such new-fangled thing-a-ma-jigs! You're so innovative! Very adorable alteration and cinching it in at the waist with the belt really helped accentuate your figure.

So pretty much just cutting off your hems? That's not too creative, anyone could've done that. Wear that cut off hem as a turban/Scarf for your hair, hang it loose at the bottom to give your look a bohemian style. wear that elastic belt outside your cardigan(one button on) to hide any patterns showing at the waistline of the dress. the extra fabric could've been used as puffed short sleeves if made into drawstrings then sewn to dress.
