  • I understand til last part where to plug on wirless card

  • great video A+

  • Wifi

  • as it is called the connector that goes from the pigtail to the computer

  • ok... i made the antenna... how do i connect it if there arnt connectors? i cracked open my wireless network card and there are + and - signs next to squares of solder. do i just solder 2 wires on or will that short circuit it???

  • Video if great. Actual usage horrible. Why waste the money on parts when i can go big for the same price. That is unless your time is free and parts are free then go for it.

  • WTF is "eco friendly"?

  • Excellent choice of music

  • great job :)

  • God bless you, for once a geek put decent music on his videos!

  • Is the copper wedge better than using just a piece of wire? Also what about the distance of the wedge from the bottom of the can? I didn't catch the distance in the video. Thanks

  • NO MAMES ESTE VIDEO ESTA GENIAL SI NO APRENDES POR LO MENOS TE ENTRETIENES JAJAJAJA.......

  • excellent job on the video...i loved it

  • i pissed myself when he tripped over the wire.2.42 lol

  • who is belkin54g i get that same signal

  • @orgazmiclover84 its the ssid(name) of the router.your neighbour must have a belkin router.

  • @orgazmiclover84 Belkin is an alien from planet 54g.

  • According to the directions on the can it says to heat 10 minutes and serve.

  • informational..but jesus dude, make it a little more interesting. I felt like a saloon drunk watching it.

  • Congrats for both the neat antenna assembly and the cool animation work!

  • What do they mean by directional antenna ?

  • @FreelancePatriot76 Directional means it's pointing straight in ahead no where else. Omni means it points in or picks up in every direction all the way around in a circle. bi-directional means it points or picks up in back and front or maybe side to side, but mainly ignores everything else or the other directions sort of like my x did to me.

  • lol

  • old hippy says Far out! built it works freakn great!

  • Wow great video, that was one of the best and funnest things on here A++

  • Wonderful vid! Congratulations!

  • Wonderful Vid!

  • I'm not sure if I really like this video.

Does this Antenna really work? Umm...

if it does, I'll make it a science project, for such thing my teacher will give me an A+++++++++++ infinity xD

  • This student doesn't know a thing about RF so take this video with a grain of salt. Otherwise, mildly amusing :| .....

  • Damn nice work.

I'm sure it took you a lot of time!

Just one little correction: It works as a waveguide antenna, not a sector antenna

  • I like the video but one thing I wish you'd have added was dimensions. I don't really know where to mount the antenna element inside the can. How far from the back of the can? I really like the video though.

  • @Magganrchy

    dimensions at ~1.29

  • Love the high production values

  • love the vid maybe i'll try it now lol :P

love the music too, made me giggle n think bout an old time flm lol, now i think i wanna play some more games to this tune while killin people on gta 4 lmao, it goes wit it pretty funny if u think about it wats the name of the song lol

  • gracias por la informacion, hace 2 años que tengo esta antena tomando como ejemplo el video, mas un software para calcular la posision del conector n altura y diametro ,mas netstumbler y radar wifi.

  • muy chistoso como los ninos dicen estava "shock"

  • download netstumbler.....amazing way to test signal.

  • Excellent vid

  • the Apple wireless connection before was 2 bars and with antenna was 1 bar, eventhough the antenna picked up other access points they were still low

  • very creative and interesting, wish it showed more details about building it.

  • where can i get a pigtail and the conector .

can u tell me a local store or something like that where i can find the supplies

    But anyways nice vidoe.......

  • Good comments but crappy Text, change it.

  • Good music but crappy video, change it.

  • Very well done :-)

  • How to build an eco unfreindly antenna. One nuclear reactor, six dead baby whales, thirty tons of murcury, fifteen tons of lead and five feet of copper wire. Instructions to follow at a later date.

  • Suuuper, habe ich sofort bei dieser komischen Kalifornischen Universität für den Oscar angemeldet :-)

  • nice video

  • what a great piece of video! i'd love that stopmotion, characters were awesome!

Thanks for this explanation. So graphical...

  • LMAO i love this , im guessing there was more effort in the frame video than the actull building of the antennae

  • lol when the frogs jump out!

  • does it matter if the inside of the can is not shiny?

  • As long as it's metal, it's ok. :) It will still reflect the radio waves.

Remember to calculate the optimal length for the element and its placement.

  • very well done mate thanks

  • excellent thanks!

  • muy buen aporte y exelente la animacion un saludo y esperando mas de ustedes ok___

  • nice video. :)

  • 相当不错

  • How does it compare to a normal 5dbi antenna?

  • Excellent video tutorial. Nice little helpers!

  • very best video, very good work, thanks

    perfect & simple ant

    you are top!!!!

  • Amazing.. Dat's cool! I wonder there's no IEEE paper on this! :D

  • hahahaah, great film love every thing a bout it

  • all tutorials must made like this so it would be more interestinh to watch :) great tut.

  • This is a very nice tutorial. Is there any relation between the tin can dimensions and the radiator offset?

  • xDD funny

  • nice!

  • for ubuntu linux use wifi radar to list the available signals and connect. it can be found in the synaptic package manager or you can enter in the terminal: sudo apt-get install wifi radar if you have the repository enabled. this app works wonders for me.

  • cantena, use pigtails and a decent PCI card, i would personally go with a pringles can, its wayy better and picks up more signals

  • See how they didn't reconnect the original antenna after disconnecting the can...

  • how many kilometers does it works?

  • cool!!

  • nice video and music ^_^

  • where can i purchase the pigtail

  • wifi-link (dot) (com)

  • Do Not Use RG 59 Coaxial Cables. That type of cable is for TV. Use low resistance cable like the cable that is used on ham Radio's. You need at least 40 to 50 ohm cable.

  • LOL! I'm planning a directional WiFi antenna myself using a quagi configuration and home built hardline coax. The coax in this video will work but will be fairly lossy due to its small diameter and length.

    Eric N7DLV

  • What is the radiator offset you used?

  • nice cartoon/fbf work

  • The ragtime and stop motion are awesome. Very nice video. How long it takes you to end it? But i guess the only problem with this is that you compared the tin antenna to no antenna. you should have compared the tin antenna to a normal antenna.

  • An option in a pinch if it works and you want to play 007 i'd prefer one made with a 45 gallon drum more power.nice work thanks .

  • In this particular wirless card for the laptop the antenna is built into the handle that you grab to pull out of the laptop Mikej1224

  • the only problem with this is that you compared the tin antenna to no antenna. you should have compared the tin antenna to a normal antenna.

  • Just one word - Xirrus

  • Very well done video. The ragtime and stop motion are awesome.

  • ia there a writen out procedure please message me

  • That's a nice construction which really will really work well! I would recommend using countersink screws (or some other screws with a very flat head) and putting the head into the can. The N-connector can then be fixed outside the can with nuts. This arrangement avoids problems with the screws protruding to far into the can.

  • a yagi antenna works a lot better and isn't really harder to build ;)

  • Does the guy who constructed this actually understand what he's doing?

  • excellent video, nice job!

  • Excellent video a lot more enjoyable than trying to stay awake listening to some boring person

  • OK waaaaaaaaaayy Over done. OK, FINE, then! FIVE STARS!!!

  • dude cool video 10 out of 10

  • great video what type of wireless card do you have

  • First time I've ever seen this done with a 'wedge' instead of a plain copper wire. Nice video, but I seriously could have done without the generic animation and music.

  • "but I seriously could have done without the generic animation and music" Indeed. What that effort for?

  • احسنت رحم الله والديك طيب الله انفاسك

    jajajaja estay clarito hueon

  • that music is so fukn annoying

  • very nice vid!!! ;)

  • Very nice!!!!

What is the song playing in the background? I know its some kind of ragtime.

  • lol best video edition ever!!
