Or possibly because Ys isn't too well known in the first place.

It's a shame. Ys came to America when a lot of other RPGs started copying its formula, thus dooming itself by its own innovations.

@ES21007 Well Ys suffered from the evil No Export for You syndrom, that's why it's hardly known outside of Japan. If it weren't for XSeed we would never have played the english version of Ys Seven, Oath in Felghana and Chronicles, and those who are new to the world of Ys would never know they existed, though like you said Ys is being muffled by more popular yet, in my opinion, inferior games so it's still fairly unknown to the masses.
