  • Oh so that's what happened. Our Gino's became KFC. Dang.... as a kid I always wondered why we lost ours. I never cared for KFC. Wow, I got educated on something... thanks for posting.

  • They expanded into DC around '77, but became Roy Rogers by '81. The burgers were great (that Gino Giant was as filling as they come and tasted great).

  • just think Gino gone but KFC still here! What happen!

  • @ cbarsonfire: Pappy Parkers fried chicken was at Hot Shoppes Jr.

  • The man in the suit at 11 seconds was most instructive, looking on to make sure the gal in the Geno's uniform rings up the order properly. The ideas of received wisdom passed on from authority figures is very much missing today and greatly needed!

  • Glad it's back. We still have to go test it.

Honestly I don't remember trying the actual GINO's stuff - we got KFC there all the time! Or at least, I did!

  • When are they going to open in Chicago.

  • Man I miss the Ginos Giant. I thought that they served Happy Parker fried chicken?

Used to hit them up for lunch when I worked next door to one.

  • Wasn't that black guy eating the burger at 0:28 the guy from Sledgehammer

  • Old Fast Food commercials are strangely addictive.

  • Ate at the Towson location a few weeks ago - may have been the best hamburger I've ever had. their fries aren't that great but the milkshake was good. HIGHLY recommended and if there is a line it's worth the wait!

  • Yeah, the Hero Burger is now long gone from Gino's menu, a customer at the Towson location asked and they didn't put it back on the menu because it didn't sell well originally in the 70s though the Gino Giant is back and stioll selling very well

    .

  • They opened a Gino's today in Towson, MD and there was a long line around the side of the building and they had a radio station there, 92Q. I'll wait a few days.

  • I see where GINO'S is back with a new store in King Of Prussia & many more stores opening this year. I have to try a GIANT I can't imagine them tasting the same.

  • I keep driving by their new location looking for the opening date!

  • We had them in the Boston area in the 70s. I loved Gino's.

  • I would hate it if they started dancing and singing when I just wanted to order a fucking burger.

  • Yes. There were plenty of Gino's here in the Philadelpiha area.

  • @nanlisa

I really don't remember ever seeing one outside of Pennsylvania or later than 1981.

  • @thatmuse76 I remember in 1982, I was 11yo. There was a Gino's in Atlantic City, NJ, right on the boardwalk, across from Resorts International Hotel Casino. I remember eating there & can still remember the interior decoration & how the sun shined off the water close to sunset & illuminated the interior. Really cool. I spent my entire summer/spring vacations in AC when my step-dad worked @ Resorts from 81-83. That era is among the most memorable of my entire life. Very nostalgic for me.

  • @thatmuse76 Gino's got started in Baltimore, Maryland, The last Gino's closed in Maryland in 1991.

  • w8..are we talkng GINOs GIANT burgrs etc???..i seem to remembr them selling chicken too!!!!..jezus that was forever ago! my mothr used to work at the one on 52nd/market in philly circa 1972...whew! but i never understood why they had KFC buckets?..wher they part of KFC??....anybody? thanx

  • @ericteed Kfc partner with GINO'S back in the late 60's, Because KFC was new in the Mid Atlantic area at that time, So KFC partner with GINO'S to get there chicken out there in the Mid atlantic states, MARYLAND, VIRGINIA, PENNSYLVAINA, DELAWARE AND NEW JERSEY.

  • @HVNnetwork

In Maryland during the early 60's you could only get Kentucky Fried Chicken from "Tops", "Home of the Sirloiner", Mid-late 60's Tops sold-out and Gino's came on to the scene. I ate at the Gino's at the corner of Rockville Pike & Old Georgetown Rd a few times a week as a kid.

  • 0:12- Wayne Rogers?

  • @MrLogoman007 No - but Harrison Page (CPO Sharkey) at 0:28. By the way, the "Hero" burger killed Gino's when it was released.

  • Gino's! As a kid, I remember there was a Gino's in Atlantic City NJ. It was on the Boardwalk/it's back to the ocean. The color scheme was dark green & gold, green carpet, gold metal trim, table top booth had dark wood veneer. I remember sitting/eating in a booth, looking out the window. It was getting dusk. The colors inside the restaurant, with the setting sun across the ocean/water, looking out the window was so relaxing, mellow, pleasing, & actually quite beautiful, for a burger joint.

  • GINO'S IS BACK IN BALTIMORE!!

Look at the announcement on the youtube page on WMARabc2 Gino's- the place everybody goes. CHECK IT OUT!!

  • ALL THEY HAVE ARE GIANTS? Not so my friend. You can get a burger any way you like with choices of up to 14 condiments. At my last visit I replicated the Jumbo Gino sandwich w/ lettuce, tomatoes, onions and double Gino Giant Sauce. Didn't look the same but tasted better! Gino's also has chicken, and chicken sandwiches, better than the modern day KFC. Also salads to boot.

  • thank god there re- opening this chain, the first one just opend last month in King Of Prussia, and the foods even better then before!!

  • why is black man eating chicken...racist bastards !

  • @grubeR0sb Lol.

  • Gino Marchetti is my grandfATHER and i know im a gamer but let me talk i get free food and my grandfather is not the owner a guy name TOM is i talked to them and stuff and i know the secret spice to the gino giant sub to me to find it out.

  • @TheAoDGaming I had the pleasure of meeting Gino in 1978 at our store. I believe Tom Romano who worked for Gino's until it closed is back with the compnay as is Lou Fisher who was chairman in the hey day. I also had the pleasure of meeting Alan Ameche (RIP)in 1983 when he picked me up hitchiking. I knew it was him when I saw the NFL Hall of Fame plate on his car.

  • They just opened in King Of Prussia Pa last Monday. I missed Gino Marchetti buy a couple of hours. I worked at the Gino's in Ardmore Pa. from June 1977 through 1980 while I was in college. Hey it was fast food work but I made a lot of friends. Anybody work at that one or any in the Philly area?

  • @jaytf1231 I never worked there but there was one at the corner of 54th and City Line in Phila. I use to eat at alot. I saw the one that's in KofP but haven't been in it yet....

  • @Keyo717 Yes St. Joe U has buildings there now.. I used to make deliveries to that one from Ardmore, and we used to play them in softball.

  • @jaytf1231 Where did they open in King of Prussia, the KoP mall? I miss Gino's SOOOO much!!! I gotta have a Sirloiner, Gino Giant, or a Crispy Fish sandwich...

  • @mrmoore1970 It's across from the KOP Court part of the mall on 202. I think it's on the corner near Allendale Road. All they have is the Giant. No Sirloiner or fish sandwich. A McDonalds used to be there.

  • @jaytf1231 No but I loved the Ginos chicken! I was at the new Ginos in KoP on opening nite!

  • What happened to the sound?

  • Gino's returns for the first time in nearly 30 years on Monday, October 25.... For former customers who haven't had a Gino's Giant in 3 decades , it's an historic day. I know the Gino's in my neighborhood closed when I was in college, and I haven't had a decent fast food burger since. Welcome back!

  • Gino's is BACK! Gino's Burgers and Chicken! Google it!

  • yo, i remember ginos. they were awesome, not like today. fast food back then was really good..

  • MMMMMM Gino Giant please!

  • Gino's had the best hamburgers, it was big and juicy, I remember my Grandmother and Grandfather used to take me to the one in Maryland when i was a kid in the 1970's. Restaurants are not like it used to be because it was for the family to get together and enjoy a meal. Thanks for the memories.

  • There used to be a Gino's in my town about 30 years ago.

  • At 0:15, the girl with the afro is the same actress who played "Fanta" in 1977's 'Roots' and was also in the 1978 film version of 'Hair'. She sang the opening number, "The Age of Aquarius".

  • Memories,Memories. I could sure go for a Sirloiner, Fries and a Coke right about now!!!!

  • I miss the Gino Giant!

  • I remember the Gino's Freedom of Choice campaign in the 1975-1976 Bicentennial leaning era!

  • I barely remember Gino's...I live around the corner from an old Gino's.

  • My name is Gino too!

  • @MadSunProductions ahahahah, one of my best friends is gino too, we call him "vagino" :)

  • @thezakjesus (hi isaque!!)yeah, that's right(he is my freind too xD)...where did that nickname come from??

  • @GRIMMJUNExAi from vagina? :P

  • @thezakjesus yeah but... bbaaaahhh, forget it

  • @thezakjesus haha. Why do you call him that?

  • @MadSunProductions oh for some reasons like there is a product for the vagina of womens and the name is "Ginocanestene" and we call him that too :)

  • my dad used to work there, and he always told me hilarious stories about him and his friends working there. I heard they might be opening restraunts across Chester County, Philly, Delaware county, Bucks, and all around the Philly suburbia and in the city

  • @Xeivous And in Maryland, too. Gawd, I would love a Gino Giant right now!

  • I wonder who owns the trademarks on Gino's now. Would love to see someone reopen this chain.

  • Gino Marchetti himself or someone who knows him do. Gino's is in fact reopening soon in the philadelphia area (but not soon enough). Gino is an advisor. Search for ginosgiant

  • @chuckschilling Chuck, Gino's is planning to reopen in the Philadelphia, PA market.

  • You're about to get your wish. Hiring started in September 2010 for the first new Gino's Burgers & Chicken restaurant, which will be in the company's hometown of King of Prussia.

They will be at 611 W. DeKalb Pike (US 202), and they expect to be open by Thanksgiving 2010.

Gino Marchetti is one of the key players in the resurrection of Gino's, and they are looking for locations throughout the Delaware Valley.

The company's webpage is at ginosgiant[dot]com.

  • @AshburnStadium

will they make any in chester county???

  • @Xeivous - I looked at their website, clicked on "About Gino's Burgers & Chicken", then clicked on "Real Estate", where they list the areas they are considering. The only ones I see in Chester County are Exton & West Chester. Take a look at that page to see where they are considering.

They are considering ones in my former hometowns of Willow Grove & Warminster, but Warminster's gov't. isn't very business-friendly. Why not the empty Wendy's in Hatboro, which is right between the two?

  • @AshburnStadium

ok, i live in coatesville. my dad worked there when he was 15, and im turnin 15 next year, and i now have the opportunity of working where my dad worked in the 70s. i thought i wud never get to be at the place where my dad worked. but now i can

  • @AshburnStadium Thank you.

  • I have been searching for this jingle for a while now. thanks for posting.

  • My mother use to talk about Ginos and then it moved to KFC I think.

  • Kentucky Fried Chicken too? WTF? i think the "Freedom of Choice" BS musta inspired George Carlin's bit about America's illusion of choice.
