  • Another thing is NYC subways cars are much longer. We have lines that run ten 60 foot cars and are much wider than the cars you just saw in the video. There's one line that runs at ground level and the houses are literally separated by a short fence.

  • What's the point of this video?

  • I could almost smell the train

  • @beermonger1

    you mean the urine....

  • NY is the best.

I MISS THOSE TRAINS SO MUCH.

You won't get that anywhere else <3

  • London Underground IS and ALWAYS WILL BE the best system. Proud to be British!!!

  • @Iamsmartist: Do you have a 24-hour system? Local and express routes? Multiple routes to places outside downtown/central business districts? Unlimited riding on a single fare, regardless of distance? A fare card that isn't named after a mollusc? No? We do. NYC Subway > London Underground.

  • I will ride the subway, one day.

  • did the train move an inch while u was walking

  • @thebigrene1972 That's simply not true. When delivered the R44's were the first nyc subway cars since the green hornet to have a door chime. There are a plethora of sources that will back me up here.

  • There's no place like home

  • Sounds to sleep by. When ever I am traveling out of town I have recordings of these sounds and listen on my headphones- it relaxes me. Start listening to the voices in the back ground and such and pretty soon I tune out.

  • meaning of this vid?

  • this is how its look like in sao paulo brazil

    /watch?v=lw4ddC69R5w

  • i love the subway

  • montreal subway FTW

  • the 1 train

  • If in fact(Which I doubt) the MTA is really in the red by as much as they claim, perhaps Bloomberg can bail them out himself. The amount Bloomberg would have to shell out with his own money is probably similar to the amount most of us pay for a month's rent!

  • I don't believe for one minute the MTA is as much in the red as they claim. The douchebags who run the transit system should be tortured until they admit they're "cooking the books". When the train fare is increased, service should also be increased, but it's being decreased as well as laying off workers. Whenever I use the subways during rush hour, It doesn't look to me like ridership is down, they're piling in those trains like slophogs.

  • @MrNYCman530 Do you remember what riding the train was like during the late 1970s? We'd wait for 30-40 minutes for a train cause they were running fewer trains and it was packed cause they sometimes had less cars even. Don't forge the crawling along at 10 mph in areas of the tunnel where the tracks were in bad shape and they couldn't go faster and hell, why don't you just shut off the lights for about 5 minutes and enjoy someone feeling you up in the meantime! God I miss the old days.

  • Mta is in a 800 mil deficit.......and bloomberg has 18 billion dollars......hmmm...food for thought

  • I only took the 1 train once and tht was with my mom we tookk it to Houston St

  • Thank you guys for the videos my son loves them. He watches his train playlist everyday. Thanks again.

  • There is not a subway system in this solar system that can hold a candle to NYC's -- whether you're talking about dependability (not breaking down), frequency of trains, speed of trains, expansiveness of service, 24-hour service, express train service, etc. The NYC system is second to none in any of those categories.

  • @SportsFreakfrom94598 Umm - me thinks you need to do some more travelling... NYC subway stinks.

  • @SportsFreakfrom94598 Amen to that. I miss the subway... Havent been back in NYC since 1997

  • @metroII Whoa! Long time that must suck.

  • @MrSintendo ( Sad tone of voice) please dont remind me! My aunt passed away and that was when we went from Puerto Rico Back home to the funeral. I could not stay. We got a train here, but it does not do more then 25mph between stations

  • Good old rectum street...er i mean rector street

  • @agentdark64 yup, lots of correlation there

  • @agentdark64: I always hear the conductor say "Erector St".

  • I remember my first time in this station...it was the summer of '09. And it was my very first time riding the subway. (:

  • Hong Kong has A great system except for one problem. THEY ARE ALWAYS BREAKING DOWN! New York has breaks down but knows how to fix problems quickly.

  • @kbusses true that

  • I never witnessed a breakdown or even a late train during the 7 years that I lived in HK - always on time, fast, very cheap, extremely clean, modern technology, safe, and so on. All of which can't be said for the NY subway.

  • Chicago sucks

  • right it does suck!

  • Nyc has the best subway system so fuck the chicagins you suck !!! baby!!!

  • bklyn!!!

  • @NYCSubwayFreak boston has the best subway then new york then La then wash.dc

  • @redsoxguy617 your a fucking idiot, LA only has two lines and only 14 stations. DC's subway is the secong largest in the country just behind NYC.

  • @Balance301 NO ur an idiot. Have u ever been to la. la has all color lines. and its nicer then new york. Boston subway is one of the best which u did not mention in ur lame statement.

  • @NYCSubwayFreak Chicago CTA >>>> New York can eat Chicagos shit! CTA is so much more easier and cheaper. Suck Chicagos dick bitch!

    And its Chicagoans....dumbfuck :D

Merry Christmas! :D Remember CTA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MTA :D

  • @distress1234 Thanks for correcting me smartass! And Merry Christmas as well !!!! :D !! MTA > CTA!!

  • @NYCSubwayFreak no no no, u got it wrong. Its Chicago has the best subway system so fuck the new yorkers you suck!!!baby!!!

  • @NYCSubwayFreak at least we don't have to worry about burning homeless people

  • @NYCSubwayFreak DC's is the best.

  • Rector Street, named for the nearby Trinity Wall Street parish church, as rector is the title American Anglicans use for pastor. Vesey and Barclay Streets, also in lower Manhattan are the names of the first two rectors.

  • uhh.. NY doesn't have an "el" system.

    Do you mean subway system?

  • wat if the r62/r62a was on the letter trains? yo that would be hot!

  • It can't. The trains that are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are always meant for the R62s and the R142s which are A division subway cars. The A division subway cars have the "skinnier" subway car body which fits perfectly through tunnels and tight curves. However, the letter trains are B division subway cars which have a wider or "fatter" subway car body and cannot fit with the numbered trains.

  • 0:45 i love the doorchime hear it now the r62 is trying to copy the r68a and r68 doorchime wtf

  • Actually, it's true, but the opposite way. The R68/R68A's copied off the R62/R62A's.The R68 was built in 1986-1988 while the R62 was built around 1984-1987.

  • Actually the R44's had them first.

  • Ale ponure to metro...

Warszawskie choć jest krótkie to przynajmniej elegancko wygląda i jest czyste

  • i have to say our the city's subway is a really rubbish, we need an overhaul!

  • Then go you nut!

  • heh, that's where I get off to go to work, good ol rector street.

  • I want to see graffiti on this train.. :)

  • u will never see graffiti on stainless steel

  • i have. I remember one time i was waiting for my train going to school and across the platform was R160B 9032 that was tagged in one spot (idk if it was marker or spray paint)

  • all i seen with graffitti are R68s and R142s

  • Cause they come from such poor places!

  • subways go everywhere, poor or rich....so what the fuck?

  • i like the sound when it enters

  • well the cortlant st station isnt abandoned for good i think.the station was right under the wtc maybe they have to remove all the rubble

  • the cortlandt street station will most likely be rebuilt as a part of the brand new path train terminal.

  • Also, just curious, is Courtlandt St. (right below the former WTC) abandoned for good? And let me recall, is Rector St. just 1 stop from South Ferry on the #1 Train?

  • Hey, come to think of Rector St. station, when I was down in NYC from Connecticut a few weeks ago, I remember riding the No. 1 train to the WTC site and got off at Chamber St. Station, I heard the announcement of "No service to South Ferry, instead, a free shuttle on the surface will get you there." Is that the case now? Are there any trains going to South Ferry at this time?

  • There is construction for a new South Ferry Terminal under way and also they perform maintenance on the tracks bet Chambers and South Ferry.

  • yes there's service to south ferry weekdays only. late nights, holidays, and weekends will have no service to south ferry. it'll instead have a free shuttle bus during these times.

  • i used to take the r or the w to rector street.

  • nice sounds and vid but i like the 7 better

  • yeah, the 7 is cool because the elevated structure is really narrow and it feels like your flying.

  • Dang! Watching this makes me miss home! Good times,Good Times! South Carolina sucks! I cant wait to come back home.

  • Nice video

  • this subways reminds me such beautiful memories, cant wait till december to go again, by the way I love the DING DONG!!! luv NY!

  • Ding..dong..Wonderful man!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaa y k kieres expresar con este video??0.0

  • I love the slowing down and take off sound the R62A's make!

  • me too. I also love that revving sound. I like those R 62_A cars too. Sady they are slowly being replaced.:(

  • Think about. THey are not being replaced no time soon. There wont be a new car order for the IRT Lines for sometime.

  • yeah. but i'm kind of diggin those new R142's

  • New LOL....R142s are 5-7 years old. R142 6301-6310 is about 8 or 9 years old.

  • wow they're almost 10 yrs old alrdy

  • well, they're RELATIVELY new. does that wording suit you guys better?

  • r62 look prettier

  • I feel bad in a way for those wanting to get off at South Ferry. Since only the first 5 cars open up, the people in the back of the train has to wait and swing back around onto the uptown side haha

  • Someone tell me what the fuck all these videos of subways are for? seriously. like who cares, yeah it comes, stops, goes. WOW!

  • This subway is the life blood of this city. without it, NYC will crumble. It would be a domino affect

  • yeah, i know that, but like, why would you want to watch them operate?

  • i would and anyone else who likes the subway

  • thats still a little weird

  • nah theer are train enthusiasts who like trains just like people who like watching cars at nascar races!

  • he has a point

  • i guess so.

  • People like cars. They watch cars.

People like porn. They watch porn.

People like trains. They watch trains.

Who cares what other people watch?

I like watching subways, because they just fascinate me. Just how they are dark tunnels, and how each subway station and subway line has its own story.

  • Hey man, I know exactly what you mean. I live in Southern Ontario near Toronto and I go there whenever I can, I love the subway. They look nearly exactly like the NY trains. I'm either movin to Toronto or becoming an American and live in New York. Fed up with the rural life... borinnggggg!

  • Nice to see someone thinks the same :D

  • And anyone is supposed to care? If you like trains then you like them, who are you to judge someone saying they're "weird" just because you don't get it.

  • to each his own; if you don't like them, then don't look at them. Just like the millions of other interests that people have.

  • This brings back memories of travelling on the subways back in spring '05. As a railfan, I can remember every little screetch, clap, click, etc, engine whir, etc.

  • I heard about that new project. Should be nice when that is completed.

  • not only that they are putting cooling fans in the station from what i heard check the mta's website for more info

  • There working on building a new sation to accomadate 10-car trains now

  • That is absolutely right! I remember that South Ferry Station with that wierd curve and the need for the extended platform. I think it still exists. I remember the conductor announcing that you had to go to the first few cars to exit. When I was with my Mom (as a kid), I remember travelling through the cars to get to the front in order to disembark from the train. This was a time before they had those shiny R 62 Cars. If you have any more R 62 1 or 3 train coverage, I'd love to see!

  • this is the downtown side 2004 it's funny because you see tourists enter the car but , the last 4 cars doors don't open at the next and last stop(south ferry) so they are just going to go throught the loop and end up on the uptown side!

  • I love the R 62 cars on the IRT 1. You did a great job capturing the arrival and departure of the train. Was this uptown or downtown?
