  • Onkyo has a major problem with a board failure. I took my TX-NR1007 in for service and the service center wouldn't accept it - all his space is full of Onkyos with the same no sound problem. He said it takes a month or better to get the board from Onkyo to do the repair and units are coming in faster than he can repair them. Come on Onkyo. Post something about this and stop ignoring the problem.

  • How is it a "NO SOUND PROBLEM" if theres no sound?

  • This is also a problem on my onkyo TX-NR3007. and nothing on thier support site?

  • Sometimes resetting it seem to work, but not all the time... To reset, turn the receiver on, then press VCR/DVR source button, then while holding it down, press the ON/Stand by button. It will flash CLEAR then turn off. Turn it back on, make sure the signal is matched to the source button (for example, HDMI to DVD/BD, etc). Sometimes this kicks it back on, but all your preset values are erased...

  • This is a common problem with Onkyo receivers... It does not matter if the firm ware is updated. It just happened to mine today. It is likely an issue with the DSP board or the DAC, as the video from HDMI still passes through, but there is no sound from ANY source, even radio. On the display screen of the receiver, NONE of the speakers indicators light up... The signal goes in but due to either the DSP or the DAC issues, the chain stops before the receiver can pass the signals to amps...

  • i have a TX-NR3007 and more or less the same problem now.

owning the receiver for a little over 2 years, i get no sound after turning it on but in my case it doesn't help turning it off and on again once. i have to play the game for like 50 times for the sound to came back. :(

  • @AndyMutz

    come, not came.

and since yesterday, the sound won't come back at all.. not even after ~100 off/on cycles :(

  • I have a TX NR 707, I have the same problem. Everything works fine except no sound. :(

  • Did yo fix this? I have the same exact problem with the TX NR-609... the only difference is that I have to turn it on and off like 10 times for it to "click"

  • Was this fixed? I got the same problem with my Onkyo SR707.

  • I'm just curious if anyone knows how to fix / what needs to be replaced for those of us who have out of warranty or 2nd hand purchases. Any information I'm sure would be appreciated.

    TIA

  • MrRichardyc: Did you have video output when experiencing no audio? Did your Onkyo's problem went away on its own or did you have to send the unit for warranty repairs?

I have the same problem, but in addition I don't get any video either. I have done hard reset / soft reset and at the same time, I have kept the receive on for half an hour and still I don't see any change.

  • @viperflyer sounds like you might have a bad HDMI board...send the unit to service center to get it fixed before your warranty expires.

  • sounds lik mabey you have a speaker thats hooker up wrong or a bad relay if its still under warnty then let them fix it hope this helps

  • then if its broken just give it to ME :p

  • The problem is sometimes switch relay switch sometimes not.

  • try resetting it to factory setting. hope that helps. cheers!

  • the new firmware just came out today 12/22/2009, it should fix this no sound problem. Youtube won't let me link the site, just goto the Onkyo international support site, you should be able to find it there.

  • I am waiting for the next firmware, hopefully it will fix this issue, or I will have to send in my unit. I know one owner has his unit in the region repair center for over 2 months waiting for a part, so I don't want to send it in yet and just have it sit there for months.

  • This is weird Because I have the same box and never had this problem..... yet. I hope to god it does not start going bad like you're box. My next suggestion is for you to contact Onkyo with ur serial number and tell them exactly what is going on. The next thing you can do is return it from where you bought it and have it replaced. Let me know whats up. I will help you in any way I can.

  • Did you update firmware from the Onkyo site? give it a try might solve this problem let me know the outcome.

  • yes, updated to the latest firmware, hard reset, did not fix the problem. Lots of owners are having this problem and audio dropouts and no fix or acknowledgment (like this problem doesn't exist, that's why I made this video for all to see) from Onkyo as of 12/21/2009.

  • This problem seems to be common.

I got the same problem with my old 5007 and my new 5007. (i got a new one from the store, but still same problem)

i hope Onkyo fix this problem.
