AA is religious. They claim that one can only quit drinking with the help of god. So it made you sound self-contradictory; "you can do it without god, there is no god" then "join AA"-which states that you must have god in order to quit drinking. There are secular organizations, SOS, RR, or just do it on your own, which is what most people do.
