This version hooked me on this song, as I had never heard it before. It was definitely a highlight at Hyde Park and I have loved this song ever since I heard it there. What a mood it has, and the guitars were excellent. And I agree, he is serving Curtis Mayfield's memory proud, just has he had many other artists.

You can't compare Clapton's version to Mayfields. This is a tribute. Clapton is honouring Curtis Mayfield in the best he way he can. He is paying homage. There is a fine tradition of this in music. Sometimes the covers rise above the original but that isn't the intent, it is to sing a good song well, to honour those who have come before and paved the way. Eric Clapton is not trying to take anything away from Curtis Mayfield. He is singing Curtis Mayfield's memory proud.

This was the stand-out song for me at this show - it really made me take notice - I see he has kept it in his shows with Jeff Beck!

Good interpretation, the guitar gives ir some fresh air, even though I still prefer Curtis' version.

I know the Winwood/Clapton DVD/CD came out today. I will be getting it soon. It will be great. Having said that, I hope when E.C. puts out another studio album(dating myself with that reference) I hope he does a studio version of this song.

They're both very good for different reasons. The version you refer to is probably more soulful than this one, but this one is unique because of the excellent guitar work which Eric and Doyle add to it.

also in Wiesbaden hat er sich ganz brav mit allen anderen Musikern ausgiebig verabschiedet und sich überhaupt nicht respektlos, sondern vielmehr sehr freundlich verhalten (was wohl nicht ganz selbstverständlich für ihn ist).

Wonderful cover of Mr. Clapton! They played it yesterday in Wiesbaden in Germany. It was a great experience! The whole band was very into it!

The setlist was quiet the same, but they played "little wing" and "got to get better in a little while"! Little wing was pretty much unespected and made be get goosebumps! Best concert, I`ve ever been to...

Yeah, it was pretty long, I believe Eric played two soli, Doyle did a smaller one between those of eric. Someone who was there too, please corect me, when I`m wrong. I believe it was pretty long.
