  • very nice and good luck

  • That sounds great! I think the word is out; I have seen some music stores online that deal in vintage stuff selling these for 175 bucks. I am still prowling ebay trying to get one under 10 dollars.

  • Excellent, very impressive.

  • Mahalo!

  • what sort of strings do these come with as standard? reading the other comments - is replacing the tuning pegs a MUST? great playing alan.

  • Did I not respond to this? I don't know what strings they used in the fifties. They were okay, but I preferred new ones. The peg broke so I had to replace it. All my other plastics have been okay with plastic pegs. Thanks!

  • you certainly didn't. i'm tempted by a tv pal but i'm trying to keep my UAS under wraps. don't want my addiction outgrowing my ability

  • i sure can't wait to try out my new pal!!!! it sounds like a good little uke....even the upper registers sound great! nice little ditty.....

  • The way you play you will have enough for the adoption and college!!

and you will make a fine Daddy!!!

    Best of Luck!

  • Thanks! Colin's home and we're a happy family now!

  • Once I change the tuners, I will post some Christmas Music...BTW, I agree with you that picking sounds better than strumming...Even using Aquilas!

  • Well...This video got me to buy a TV pal on ebay...But the tuners are really bad, what kind can you use to replace them?

  • I used some old tuners from a broken uke - maybe a Decca..? They had to be the thinner ones to fit thru the holes. You might need to measure the holes... I look forward to seeing your first plastic video! :)

  • I sould get me one of those T.Vs

  • DO ! DO!

  • Would you recomend plastic ukes? Do they have any advantage over traditional ones?

    Very nice btw.

  • I wouldn't if you want quality strings. You'll break the plastic peg tuners. But if you've got replacement tuners, the sound is quite good.

A big advantage to mine is that I don't mind beating it up, leaving it in the car (except on really hot days) or taking it outside in inclement weather. But it was an inexpensive ebay purchase, and it already had marks on it. If I had a like-new one, I may have different thoughts about it.

    Thanks, btw! :)

  • Cheers.

  • What kind of tuner did you use to replace the original one?

I have a tv pal with a missing tuner, do I need an old tuning peg or any new friction tuning peg would do?

  • Plastic fantastic!

  • Rockin! Thanks, GUGUG!

  • Wonderful! Please took more breaks from cleaning the garage!

  • heh. Thanks!

  • the sound is so match with the music...

    cool instrument!

  • Thank you It's fun to play too!

  • Hey I love that sound! Very cool instrument. I'm posting a video where I mention my admiration for you is on the creepy side, but I really do like your work and your attitude. And I notice today you have 100 subscribers! Mission accomplished!

  • So far so good! :) as for your video, "flattery is the sincerest form of imitation."

    Or something like that! O:

  • Sounds good...What strings did you put on it?...There may lie the secret!

    Franklin

  • I think you're right. They are Kala red strings - wound nylon.

The uke sounds great picking, but really sounds like plastic when strumming.
