(part 2) Its rediculous how the IL river has changed in the past ten years since these carp became heavily established. In some reaches Asian carp account for over 70% of all fish present. If you haven't researched these fish or seen them first hand then you simply do not have any power to your ..."those poor fish" argument. Please, by all means try and tell my otherwise as I would love to argue this with you more with actuall research to back it up.
As a grad student studying these fish I just want to say this video is freaking hilarious. The more we get rid of the better, no matter what means those may be. For those veiwers bothered by this video I would just like to say this; Go out on the IL river one day this summer withouth any padding/protection and tell me how much you feel "so sorry for those poor defenseless animals". These fish are not native and are outcompeting with some of the native fish. (finish on post 2)

Anyone ever thought of using a sail-sized net? Seems like if you just skim it across the top of the water, you will rake in a bushel full on every pass...
@tgoyer could work, might be able to sort out the native species and throw them back.. leave the rest on land as coyote food(though i think you can eat them..donate to the poor maybe?) but even though that will work, it doesnt sound like it would be as much fun lol
My recommendation is to adapt a windsurfing harness with spreader bar and quick release to allow you to ride the skis and keep both hands free for slaying carp
@zacandnate I reccomend a Wakeboard as well, then you don't have to pay quite as much attentio to your feet. As for the harness I can get you hooked up might be able to get you the quick relaease as well. Call me at 1-800-992-7245 and ask for Chad.
If your going to use the windsurfing harness make sure you have some form of quick disconnect on the boat that the spotter can detach the skier with when the skier goes down! This isn't killing things for the sake of killing things. This is training. Killer whales do it with their prey to make sure they are at the top of their game. If and when these fine people find themselves in a dystopian future where a "Mad Max meets Water World" type of self defense is necessary, they will be FAR MORE PREPARED THAN YOU.

You can eat these, and I here they are good. I would try it, but they smell awful. Other than that they are fun to shoot!

... and furthermore: various kinds of carp are edible, though they seem to have more than their share of small or annoying-to-remove bones. Pressure-cook them whole and use them for cat food, maybe? -Or- Till them under as fertiliser. -Or-maybe- Cut them up for bait for other fish. It is a good thing to get rid of them.

My recommendation is to adapt a windsurfing harness with spreader bar and quick release to allow you to ride the skis and keep both hands free for slaying carp

@zacandnate I reccomend a Wakeboard as well, then you don't have to pay quite as much attentio to your feet. As for the harness I can get you hooked up might be able to get you the quick relaease as well. Call me at 1-800-992-7245 and ask for Chad.

If your going to use the windsurfing harness make sure you have some form of quick disconnect on the boat that the spotter can detach the skier with when the skier goes down! Saw this on the bowfishing forums and really want to try it! Love the wolverine claws, should make a video on the construction of those
