For much better obviously, violence is at pre-insurgency levels. More people have been killed in Mexico's drug war this month than all people killed in Iraq. Civilians, ISF, and US troops. The US lost 4 troops this month. In 2007 we lost 86.

Their modern, well-equipped and well trained army, navy, air force, special forces, and police do most of the fighting and arrests, and most U.S. soldiers stay on their bases most of the time. They have a well-organized country with a healthy justice system and government. Afghanistan is another example. This will not be a failed state.

We are no longer in war with Iraq. Once saddam was captured and the Iraqi army was defeated in the first 21 days in the beginning of the war we have been fighting agains the Muslim extremists aka Insurgents aka terrorist aka Al Qaeda and other insurgent groups. We are training the Iraqi Police and Army out of corruption so they can maintain themselves so we just don't leave Iraq to die.

xxionx is right, Iraq was defeated in the very month of the war. the US is not at War, per say, but rather keeping peace, and rebuilding Iraq, and the Iraqi military so the new found government would defend itself better, against possible militant loyalists.

In this video, from what I can piece together, Al Jazeera is trying to make it sound like we are misusing and abusing the Security Forces. The ISF were not the first into Fallujah, the Marines were, followed up by the Army, and then some ISF units.

The news media here in the US is indeed contolled to a certain extent by the government. But, Al Jazeera is the DEFINITION of government control and bias. They lie so much it is almost funny. Everytime I turn around there is a story about a "massacre" committed by US troops. Everytime a single civilian is even so much as slightly hurt a little by US fire, they jump on it and turn it into a story of "American barbarism".
