@griggins Thanks for the observation. I went to see Slade many times in the 70's & all their concerts & songs were a riot & never quiet.

Perhaps your comments hint at you being a lot younger or even from a different country to me but to see the effect that Slade had, check this video of fans of FC United of Manchester, the Man United fans' breakaway team, singing 'FC make some noize'. Note that it says Slade not Quiet Riot.

@boggym1999 Oddly enough, I think just the opposite... but for me, it's because I guess I've never heard any version of this song except from Quiet Riot. I honestly thought they wrote the song. Slade's version kinda sucks to me at this point.... both in vocals and instrumentals. Only reason I even bothered to look up this version is after seeing the name pop up on Edguy's version of the song they just recently released.

Slade is extremely underrated. Quiet Riot makes good covers but doesn't compare to this ROCK AND ROLL. QR makes Heavy Metal which is good but this song is more of a Rock And Roll one than Heavy Metal one.

quiet riot covered this song as a joke, and it ended up not only being their most successful hit, but was by far the most popular version of this song. that is a testament to how bad this song is: easy lyrics, simple construction, wannabe glam rock composition. slade obviously are trying to be T. Rex or David Bowie but they just don't get it

It is sad that it is usually patriotic Americans who think Quiet Riot are better than Slade. Their illiteracy magnifies their usual ignorance of the fact that this song was originally written by Slade, which QR took to No1 in the US. That says it all, ain t it??? I rather listen to a much more diversified and better rockband like Slade who could write their own, very often, magnificent tunes!
