Love your setup and you have some beautiful bettas :)
Was just wondering if you could possibly make (or maybe you have already) a video on when and how you seperate the fry etc. Like the whole process from spawning to raising the fry. I'm thinking about starting the hobby myself but not sure how to go about the seperating and equipment needed to do so.
i have a female and a male betta and my male DID create a bubble nest and everything. my male just keeps on chasing the female, flaring his gills. how long do i have to wait till they're spawning process start? thanks. please reply ^^
That's amazing. They're alive and you're taking good care of them, giving them ample space. I wanted to breed my little guy too, he's red with iridescent green scales. I know it probably won't go well. It's my first time, I'm doing all the research I can. Any advice? What worked for you that may not be obvious?
The first time I didn't have adequate space or a good system set up. If you can afford the space, get yourself two ten gallons ($10-13 each) at least, one for the initial spawning and the other for fill out (maturation) Eventually both will be good for fill out. Second, get real floating plants like duckweed or something some people recommend using a cup. That idea SUCKS. Last, I've found the darker the tank, the faster the process goes. Put a towel on it for a couple days. Seems to help.
when you have seperated your males from eachother you have a clip were it shows them seperate. how do u keep the water at thr rite temperature n also how do u you keep the water filterised? or can they just live without a heater n a filter ? please answer im just starting breeding betta and want to no what to do thanks.
u dont really need a heater or filter....maybe a heater but just around 70 degress or 75....im not really sure though...look it up.. i have all my research i have....but i dont really need a heater or filter
hi greatpickels and thx for ur advice i am try now sec time to breed may red mail with a blue female he is doing a nice nest she is showing the vertical strips but she is constanly running after her but she is hiding is the 3th day and nothing do u feed them when u put them to spwan?
Chasing and shredding happens. Make sure the female has a place to hide from him so that he won't be constantly distracted by her moving around and work on his nest instead. also, make sure your tank is in a dimly lit area or put a towel or blanket over it to do so for three or four days and you SHOULD get results. Good luck :)
in a 5.5 gallon. The success rate was HORRID. Only about 20 fish made it to the present (a year and a few months.) This year my current batch (2 months old) have a 10 gallon, 5.5, and a spare 10 if I need it.
My results when i bred were horrid aswell. I got none to live. Then my male commited suicide so i couldn't breed anymore. But i still breed cichlids and i am going to be breeding zebra danios as well. Yet in the video, your fish look very healthy. If I did breed them again, I wouldnt mine having less fry live to adulthood but i dont think i will spawn again. Nice Videos.
WOW my first breed was very unsuccesfull i mean i got to a good point but the bettas wernt capitable =( and than when i was gettin the female ready for my other male changing the water the female fell outta the my tank and ... got flushed down the drane boo
aww thisis sotouching, one day I will build huge pole like tanks from the ceiling to the floor of my room and have cool bettas in them cool eh? Can't wait!!
Hey onequestion...how do youprepare their water? chemicals, boiling,or both? I do both but with all the babies I'm thinking it takes too much... I only own 6
Straight out of the tap and add some conditioner formulated for bettas. Works great! I currently have about 24 bettas hanging around! I've been giving fry away slowly but surely!
Hehe! I am starting to be able to sex them, but the trouble is putting them in with my other fish. My other...MEAN fish. (the nursery will be taken down when all is done.
The majority of your fry look like females. Good work.

I do not feed them when I spawn. Feed them protein rich foods for 3-5 days before spawning and then don't feed them until they are finished.

How many did you end up with? and how many males vs females?
LoveForZeppelin 2 years ago
Considerably more females than males. Only around 20. This was my first try though. I did get some really nice ones though!
