@MoisChanVsTamama To put it simply, Luigi's speed is for comedic effect mostly since he runs from a lot of stuff, and Yoshi is compared to Sonic in speed in crossover, plus that's his purpose. Also when flying, there's less energy expended so they can go faster
Here's something interesting to notice: Shadow can't use Chaos Control in the zone right? Well while he was tearing into Mecha Sonic he used it a couple times without difficulty.
@ransac16 I guess he can use it, but not to escape that dimension. Think of this situation as the one in DBZ where Piccolo, Gotens, and Trunks get stuck in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. In both Mario Bros. Z and DBZ they had to find alternative ways to escape.
You know Alvin plans this show very carefully because i know an amateur sprite animator would have a hard time planning out how each character would look in 8 bit and fight in 8 bit and thumbs up for the shadow entrance.

And you base that on WHAT? You have no proof of this because Super Sonic has never met a light saber or a Super Saiyan. The opposite can also be true (Sonic being immune to even lightsabers or Super Saiyan attacks).
The only way we would actually know who would win is through an official statement from the creators from both series that both agree on the same outcome. Otherwise, its up to imagination and we have no business telling others what to think.

srsly, that's obvious. mario's potentials are simply low. that's all i'm saying. compare EVERY Sonic game to when Sonic's in a game with mario. it's actually hard to beat him because of his reduced speed. in a competition, mario would have NO chance.
How is it low? The man lifts objects several times his weight and mass, defeats various cosmic horrors of untold power, is a really a very pragmatic fighter and versatile fighter, etc. Way too many people dismiss Mario as a simple plumber without actually thinking about everything he does besides stomp on turtles and mushrooms.
Yes Sonic is faster, but speed is not the absolute factor in who would win in a fight or who's a better fighter.
@metaXzero well in a fight without any "power-ups" or special objects, Sonic would win. in any state of % potential, Sonic would win. "cosmic untold horror" is that same turtle that he can't even really beat right? just knocks him out and runs away? yeah um... speed in basic combat IS everything. (basic=no energy attacks)
if i poked a piece of cardboard, not alot would happen. likewise, were i to run at the speed of sound, i would outrun bullets, and poking the box would cause a FAR travel!!
And you are so certain, how? Don't forget, besides spindashing, Sonic doesn't start out fast (functionally, he's like heavy weights in Mario Kart), And he certainly doesn't become an armor ball considering how easy it is to knock him out of his speeding in alot of games.
Good job narrowing Mario down to only the games where he faces Bowser. It's not like he has several RPGs and other platformers where he isn't just facing the dragon turtle.

Sonic fanboyism has vast advantages of physical sense as well as amusement; the games make him start slow to give the player an acceleration security; if you go to the official (american) Sonic website, you can find out that he has the potential to burst to the speed of soundwithin 1/10 of a second. it IS in Sonic Unleashed as well, you realize right? anyway, Sonic's speed and adaptation to it have rendered a STRONG resistence to falling.

Mario isn't just dumb muscle though. Nor is he overly slow. He's pretty well rounded with an added dose of weird durability to alot of things. He's also very versatile and adapts quickly to alot of situations. Being fast isn't just going to win Sonic the fight. Heck alot of fights Sonic's in he doesn't win just because he's fast,.
Mario got pretty far in life compared to Sonic's fall :D

If you want to go back to gameplay mechanics (especially outdated ones since Mario nowadays has a life meter unless it's classic 2D), Sonic's ability to survive hits is dependent on having rings. And he too at the SLIGHTEST touch of an adversary will suffer injury .
I was moreso going with his portrayal in RPGs and 3d game (Mario).

Sonic's games have improved their physics more and more as time has passed. he doesnt get hurt by touching them anymore, they need to attack. otherwise, he just bumps into 'em really hard, and in some games the momentum leading to the crash knocks him down.

And he usually can't beat the final boss without relying on the chaos emeralds for super transformations, where as mario fights on his own power.
Mario combats just as many supernatural forces as sonic, and is on par with him.
b: Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds because the enemy is otherwise too strong. Sonic at half of his potential and one arm behind his back could EASILY defeat mario.
c: mario fights supernatural things, yeah, but they're the same ones over and over.
d: Sonic doesn't fight much supernaturality. Usually main characters are that way and nobody else. The overall majority IS robots, but there are games that have no technology. period.

While it's true Sonics core advantages (speed, agility and durability) are at insane levels relative to his weaknesses (which are really only weaknesses in context to his strength), Mario is essentially balanced, the 'Mario' so to speak. Saying he's lower in power level is ignoring the versatility of the character. Taking into account the trials Sonic must undergo to get his only -TBC

@Orumon27 umm yeah i guess it IS the 2nd super form but that doesnt make it equivalent. i honesly think (basically KNOW) that just Super Sonic could beat super saiyan lvl 2; the overwhelming speed, power, speed, Chaos Control, speed, and Chaos Control. there'd be no way to hit 'im. super saiyan level 4 would either need assistance and irritable distraction (if hopeful at ANY) or die waiting for him to run out of rings.

in the Super form, Sonic is faster than to need a sense of where energy is. applying the physics and math, Super Sonic's punch is actually harder than an ssj3 punch. note- APPLYING THE PHYSICS

@papershadow69 Supernatural, like everything else, is subject to power weight classes as well. Sonic, when he confronts the final boss, is usually confronting either an insanely advanced machine, or a god. This, of course, requires the chaos emeralds. Last I checked, Mario doesn't confront ancient gods (we're talking actual ones, not ones that claim to be) without the star spirits.

And you base that on WHAT? You have no proof of this because Super Sonic has never met a light saber or a Super Saiyan. The opposite can also be true (Sonic being immune to even lightsabers or Super Saiyan attacks).
The only way we would actually know who would win is through an official statement from the creators from both series that both agree on the same outcome. Otherwise, its up to imagination and we have no business telling others what to think.

How is it low? The man lifts objects several times his weight and mass, defeats various cosmic horrors of untold power, is a really a very pragmatic fighter and versatile fighter, etc. Way too many people dismiss Mario as a simple plumber without actually thinking about everything he does besides stomp on turtles and mushrooms.
Yes Sonic is faster, but speed is not the absolute factor in who would win in a fight or who's a better fighter.

@metaXzero well in a fight without any "power-ups" or special objects, Sonic would win. in any state of % potential, Sonic would win. "cosmic untold horror" is that same turtle that he can't even really beat right? just knocks him out and runs away? yeah um... speed in basic combat IS everything. (basic=no energy attacks)
if i poked a piece of cardboard, not alot would happen. likewise, were i to run at the speed of sound, i would outrun bullets, and poking the box would cause a FAR travel!!

And you are so certain, how? Don't forget, besides spindashing, Sonic doesn't start out fast (functionally, he's like heavy weights in Mario Kart), And he certainly doesn't become an armor ball considering how easy it is to knock him out of his speeding in alot of games.
Good job narrowing Mario down to only the games where he faces Bowser. It's not like he has several RPGs and other platformers where he isn't just facing the dragon turtle.

Sonic fanboyism has vast advantages of physical sense as well as amusement; the games make him start slow to give the player an acceleration security; if you go to the official (american) Sonic website, you can find out that he has the potential to burst to the speed of soundwithin 1/10 of a second. it IS in Sonic Unleashed as well, you realize right? anyway, Sonic's speed and adaptation to it have rendered a STRONG resistence to falling.

in tv and chr description, Sonic is much more able than players are allowed. if they had his actual potential to use, their reflex would be astoundingly hopeless; if you cant play Sonic Unleashed, you're screwed with a full game.

Mario isn't just dumb muscle though. Nor is he overly slow. He's pretty well rounded with an added dose of weird durability to alot of things. He's also very versatile and adapts quickly to alot of situations. Being fast isn't just going to win Sonic the fight. Heck alot of fights Sonic's in he doesn't win just because he's fast,.
Mario got pretty far in life compared to Sonic's fall :D

If you want to go back to gameplay mechanics (especially outdated ones since Mario nowadays has a life meter unless it's classic 2D), Sonic's ability to survive hits is dependent on having rings. And he too at the SLIGHTEST touch of an adversary will suffer injury .
I was moreso going with his portrayal in RPGs and 3d game (Mario).

And he usually can't beat the final boss without relying on the chaos emeralds for super transformations, where as mario fights on his own power.
Mario combats just as many supernatural forces as sonic, and is on par with him.

d: Sonic doesn't fight much supernaturality. Usually main characters are that way and nobody else. The overall majority IS robots, but there are games that have no technology. period.

@ShonowtH I've been following your argument, and certain points I agree. But you're talking Mario down too much. While it's true Sonics core advantages (speed, agility and durability) are at insane levels relative to his weaknesses (which are really only weaknesses in context to his strength), Mario is essentially balanced, the 'Mario' so to speak. Saying he's lower in power level is ignoring the versatility of the character. Taking into account the trials Sonic must undergo to get his only -TBC

Without power ups Sonic indeed outweighs Mario in the overall power spectrum, the plumber compensates by the efficacy and variety of power ups he gets.
Versatility is Marios watchword.

Yes DB/Z/GT Characters are all extremly powerful and blow up planets with ease but you are right one thing. Super is INVINCIBLE. Nothing can hurt him in super form no attacks would hurt him. He'd probably dust himself off at the biggest spirit bomb so i'd say it's a tie.

@sonicunlimided42 lulz ikr? i'm just telling this guy that Super Sonic, even without invincibility, is too fast for the characters in DB/Z/GT to keep up with. according to Sonic Rush, and without Chaos Control, Super Sonic is faster than the speed of light. i'd even hate to be ssj4 gogeta to have to face Hyper Sonic. 3=

@sonicunlimided42 yeah if you ask me sonic super form meets the standards of dragon ball z.now hyper sonic is maybe a super saiyan 3 strength.

@mee091000 SSJ Goku Didn't destroy the planet. That Spirit Bomb did. Not to mention Frieza's Death Ball, so don't go thinking you're right, because you're not. DBZ is awesome, yes, but it's also full of over powered characters. I LOVE DBZ, Sonic, & Mario, but stating that one is better than the other is pointless. You can state facts all you want, but the bottom line is that this is a fanfiction made by a fellow fan of all three series, so quit babbling and taking up space, and kiss and make up.

@papershadow69 Supernatural, like everything else, is subject to power weight classes as well. Sonic, when he confronts the final boss, is usually confronting either an insanely advanced machine, or a god. This, of course, requires the chaos emeralds. Last I checked, Mario doesn't confront ancient gods (we're talking actual ones, not ones that claim to be) without the star spirits.

mario has final bosses like all games, but isnt there a pattern with it all? i mean like... bipedal turtles with spikes on their shells, each with their own rainbow power or whatever? srsly, one rolls at you, one jumps, one breathes fire, and one throws harmless dodgeballs, as far as i know. k really, mario could win but it'd take a long time. with Sonic and his speed (momentum reference) could beat em with like 4 kicks
