  • I like who they channel The Pixies in this song. Which is also one of my favourite bands of all time.

  • is that a man or woman

  • @sarahluvspauly the lead singer with the guitar is a dude lol I thought the same thing at first glance hes got an androdynous lesbian look but he sounds like a dude when he talks regularly.

  • One of my favourite songs of all time

  • Mother Mother make awesome videos and great music. Hayloft is awesome.

  • I hate music videos, but this is very good and does not take away from the great band.

  • such a feel good song

  • One day, I will make an homage to Quadra Island. It is my Mecca.

  • I didnt know this song was by mother mother. I'd heard it before, but didn't know it was mother mother. Until now, I thought the lead singer of this song was a girl.

  • @GodsMiistake i thought it was a girl the first till i saw the video too

  • :}i like the lead singer!!! He's ugly but in a way cute.i'm messed up lol!

  • *sigh* i don't know how everyone didn't know that Ryan was a guy until they saw a picture of him. I knew immediately. He's just... extreme Tenor. :)

  • Are Ryan and Molly siblings?

  • @FanTabyLous brother and sister

  • @stodthephenom since i didn't answer your question and simply stated "brother and sister", I will try again. Yes. They are siblings.

  • @highlander818 Nah, I am from Quadra, and so are they, even though they say Vancouver now. And we might not have a 'town' here, but we do have enough people for a very strong community. Obviously, we can churn out some great musicians :)

  • @Stormlantern78 Lol, I didn't know people from Quadra had the internet. JK.

  • I also saw them at mcmaster during frosh week. i was front row and i got to meet them all after they were really cool!

  • Holy fudge, that's a guy!

  • This song gives me shivers. I saw them live at McMaster during frosh week YEAHBUDDY

  • @UnitedSovietParty you lucky motherfucker.

  • I love how artistic their music videos are, every time I see a video from these guys I'm always entertained.

  • i should really go see them at the sound academy. that would be amazing!

  • @wafflewaffle90 Yahhhhh me too. i love mother mother but im still debating whether to go or not. The last time i saw them live i lost my marbles cause they were that awesome

  • Talented, intelligent, song-writer, musician, charismatic, speaks with an actual wide vocabulary and we can't forget wonderfully attractive. More men need to be like Ryan Guldemond.

  • I wish I could sing well enough to sing along :/

  • I thought it was a butch chick singing this when I first heard it and saw the video. Saw them perform this live and was like 'Waaaaah?!'

  • Me and my brother just did a cover of this song and put it here on the youtube its the other man and body of years put together please check it out. its on our page

  • i thaught the lead singer was a chick.....

  • Ryan ( the lead singer) and Molly ( the blonde girl on keyboard) are brother and sister. :)

  • check out my chanel i post mother mother covers with my guitar

  • music gives you a boner? perhaps you need to seek help.

  • @PaganWitchDoctor if music DOESNT give you a boner YOU need to seek help

  • @PaganWitchDoctor I disagree.

  • @PaganWitchDoctor in that case, I need help as well

  • @dancingvandal You probably do. We all do.

  • For someone with a pretty deep voice, he sure can sing high.

  • @5Bpoint the women help with the high vocals and yea damn he can sing like so awesome i wish i can do that

  • @5Bpoint when I first Heard this song I thought it was one of the girls singing.

  • Seriously wondering, but why does everyone think he sounds like a girl? I can hear it in the bridge but other then that, I think he sounds pretty male-like. lol

  • awesome! cant wait for more vids from the new album!!! Fear not frizzybob the two, very tallented, women sing almost as much if not more of the music as the lead singer.

  • great driving song :)

  • this is one of my most favourite songs :)

  • I did a whole english project on this song :)

  • @somebodysendme mehehe... that wins!

  • 3:01 pure talent

  • This is music.

  • the lead singer looks like my ex. great song

  • Red fish, Blue fish, One fish, two fish.

  • @frizzybob, it's like when I figured out that the lead singer of RUSH was a dude. and yet another similar experience when I discovered Cher was not a man.

  • @FOBilu That was really funny.

  • Seen them in halifax a few nights ago...powerful vocals, interesting song writing. What more does anyone want.

  • tracey champman sounds like a man but thats not the point, they both make good music, who cares

  • Am I seriously the only one who thinks they sound like the Pixies?

  • @chadthebountyhunter No, you aren't. Mother Mother are my roommate's favourite band, so I've been trying (and failing) to get her to listen to Surfer Rosa :P

  • @spiegalr

you should just take E with her then throw that trak on

  • @chadthebountyhunter Yes, you are the only one.

  • how the hell does he sound like that? or better yet why

  • Rocked it in E-town. Long live MM, you wouldn't believe the pipes on that little red head... wow.

  • Im going to see them tomorrow. Im excited :D

  • @NiNjAxLeMoNs In Edmonton? I didn't know they were coming! ugh. i envy you.. :P

  • I love these guys! They're from my home town, so I know their mother. Get it? (It's true, by the way)

  • @Stormlantern78 They're from your home town? I'll assume you mean Campbell River, since they're 'reportedly' from Quadra Island, which doesn't really have what you'd call a town, per se. I'm not a big enough fan to know if they're really from Quadra or not, just what I heard on a few radio stations when they first came out. And yes Frizzybob, I too thought this was a hot chick when I first heard it XD. In "the stand" I swear it's Jordie Birch singing the guy part =P

  • @highlander818 They're actually Canadian.

  • Awwwww!! Poor frizzybob. As weird as it may sound, some guys can sing

    falsetto. Ever listened to Yes?

  • @SuperBeercat it's not falsetto, its just that he sounds like a fucking WOMAN.

  • Haven't heard this in a year but checked in after hearing The Stand. A band without proper due. We Americans think Nickelback, Beiber or Lavigne when it comes to Canadian music. Corporate teets. Canadian music (as an American) makes me think Matthew Good, The Tragically Hip, The Tea Party (pls reunite), Alexis on Fire, etc. But unfortunately no one 200 miles south ever hears the good stuff.

  • he looks russian

  • wow all their voices ARE SO HOT

  • two words:

    FUCK YEAH

  • how could anyone dislike this song?

  • I was stoked to watch this until I saw it was directed by Colin Minihan. He used to date a good friend of mine and he smacked her around quite a bit, and now all popular music videos directed by him piss me off for some reason :/

Still love the song to death <3

  • Keep it up Mother's

  • So for the people who heard this on the radio: Are your Canadian? I've never heard them on the radio and it makes me sad. :(

  • @randomQueen5000 I am lucky enough to live on the coast of the US but all we get are canadian stations they have way better music then us! See if you can find 91.3 The Zone online thats where I found this.

  • @rainbowpolyester Thank you so much, I'll see if I can find it now, but even if I can't that was helpful. Thanks for the insight!

  • so much talent. a shame this band only gets 155, 246 views and other "artists" ( if you can even call them that) like justin bieber gets millions. Sad truth of the music industry.

  • @manunited09 its a shame everyone hates on beiber... yea its not fair, but the beiber hate is getting repetitive...

  • @manunited09

justin bieber is mainstream and is widely famous... his music is soulless and undeserving. im glad this band is contained. they still got great songs. check out metric, another awesome canadian band.... and she's pretty sexy, too.

  • It's weird going to their concert when you've just heard of them, then watching there vid.

  • What is it with this band and fish?

  • @randomQueen5000 His hearts like a fish out of water.... and so is everyone elses ;)

  • Mother Mother sure love their fish

  • @NessieCarlieCullen12 Fish fetish?

  • @chainsawarm3 haha maybee

  • i always thught the lead singer was a girl in this song...

  • @gisluvable165 Me too...

  • i thought this was a chick singing the whole time when i heard this on the radio, now my boner was man-induced, i really don't know what to say

  • Comment removed

  • @frizzybob its ok... at least you didn't think taylor hanson was hot when you first saw mmm-bop. and then found out it was a dude (kind of).

  • @frizzybob well since you had the balls to admit this, i would say your mostly straight

  • @frizzybob ZOMG!!! YOU LIVE IN HALIFAX NS! :D

  • @frizzybob Umm... There is actually 2 women singing plus the guy.

  • @frizzybob OMG LOL I thought it was a chick too.

  • @frizzybob LOL! Totally know whatcha mean..but at least the two women in the band are hot!! (And I'm still convinced that the females are the ones really singing in this one!)

  • @frizzybob lmao good one. i thought he was a chick too but no boners. i save them for emily haines

  • canada u r forgiven for the j beiber mistake

  • how can one band have so many sounds? they're amazing.

i cant believe i was able to survive without knowing this band.

    canadiana ftw !

  • Its just mainstream enough for the mainstream crowd and just edgy enough for the indie crowd. Its like nirvana in a way. Cuss me if you want to.

  • @SeaHorseGypsy I'll probably get flamed more for this, but these guys are better than Nirvana, just like a lot of the other acts coming out of Seattle were, for example Soundgarden was much better, much more versatile. The only really good part of Nirvana was Dave Grohl.

  • @SeaHorseGypsy But let's be honest with ourselves: Are we listening to this music because we want to feel "more edgy" than regular pop music, or are we listening to this music because it is released by innovative, talented musicians? If someone is listening to this just to say that they're edgier than everyone else, they're missing the whole point of the genre. It's about people who love to make music putting out music for people who love to listen to it.

  • well thats how people are. Is what i meant. Most people anyway. I feel the same way you do about it though.

  • Words cannot describe how much I love this song. Honestly! No adjective is strong enough to describe my love for it. Brilliance.

  • sorry link wont post, its on exclaim.ca

  • what's great is that i went on to interview these guys about their new album, Eureka. Check out the new single here guys.

    it's called "The Stand".

  • Best Band EVER! :D

  • we wamt MM in Mexico!!!!!

  • first time I heard this song I first thought the voice was a lady. When I found out it was a guy I was like woah

  • I FUCKING LOVE THEM!

  • these people are really good musicians. and they video is cool!

  • if i had one song to listen to before i died i would pick this one.

  • I got goosebumps, and I NEVER get goosebups.

  • best damn video I've seen in a long time, so creative and unique, this band has success written all over them.

  • The fact that neckleback is even mentioned here is upsetting. they are a disgrace to the Canadian music scene. Mother Mother on the other hand, Wow, great work guys keep making incredible music

  • the bassist = insanely sexy

  • you can tell this is canadian because the drummer is wearing a toque not a beanie a toque.

  • I fucking love you guys, keep it up!

  • honestly i get tingles...god im fucking in love with this band

  • Comment removed

  • This is an amazing example of a band not following the typical structure of todays, "Verse, chorus, verse, bridge, chorus" music. So insanely creative and the vocal harmonies are top notch. He gets some awesome tone out of that Strat. Sounds like he is playing through a VOX AC-30. This is an awesome song.......and "bonerhone", I have three words for you......"LIVE LIFE LOUD.........!!"

  • i love the part "leave my mark in the world with a bat and a blade"

  • tegan and sara arnt indie.

    try pop.

  • @TheShyPieGuy

Tegan and sarah are about as indie as it gets. tiesto did an overlay on one of thier songs, which is pop, but without tiesto.... indie

  • @dakotacoates ya know indie just means "underground", right? it's not actually a genre...

  • @nicolesamsonite yes and no. the literal sense of it is, independently published/record/etc. and the other one is a genre, i don't know dude, just look up PAVEMENT.

  • @nicolesamsonite Indie is short for independant. Like emo is short for emotional. It does not mean underground at all, that's just what hipsters and people who don't know what indie is think

  • oops. posted twice. didn't think it worked.

  • @vampirecephalopod yeah i hate when that happens

  • @nicolesamsonite

Indie is short for independent. It doesn't mean underground. Like Emo is short for emotional. That's just what hipsters and people who don't have a clue (usually americans) think.

  • The five people who ranked this down SUCK. ^ ^

  • So intricate... a feast for the ears.

  • Awesome. I want a music video for Burning Pile or Ghosting~!

  • most of their music videos seem to have to have those fish... lol

  • @jeriya909 And Paper Cutouts of people :D

  • It's really, really sad that these guys have only just got radio time in Halifax, NS since we've just got a new radio station. Out of all of the "Can-con" we're made to listen to, these guys are miles ahead of Nickelback.

  • @bonerhone they' have radio time in calgary, AB too.

  • @bonerhone They get lots of playtime on Urban Rival.. live365(dot)com/urbanrival

  • @bonerhone what's really sad is being from the town they're from and being the kid "Verbatim" was about and acutally living in ``A Dirty Town`and you get the Akon fans and sluts who sucked off Johnny Basketball Star liking them. AKA DEAR KOREA BOMB CAMPBELL RIVER

  • @bonerhone Feck yes bro, Nickelsack is a piss-poor rep for Canadian music. Let's call all the local stations and request some bands which include real musicians and artists, like Mother Mother.

  • @Capndanger My local radio station 100.5 The Peak is in Vancouver and they only play soft rock and indie songs. They often play Mother Mother because they are a local band from Quadra Island. The even interviewed them in their station. You can go to their google them and go to their website and listen live if you want good music.

  • @bonerhone Light years actually

  • @bonerhone Did you really compare Nickleback to these guys!? two completely different genres.

  • @RavenHarvest Nickelback is not even near the talent Mother Mother has

  • @zeebranut They both have a lot of talent but you can't compare two totally different genres, this is like alternative pop, Nickelback is alternative Metal, but I guess you're right when you say they have more talent as a pop band, but Nickelback is Metal so that statement really doesn't mean anything.

  • @bonerhone uhm thisband is freaking awesome but they're also played on the radio in Vancouver, so yeah.

  • @bballvballulti His post was 6 months ago :/

  • @bonerhone Nickleback isn't good enough to be these guys roadies.

  • Comment removed

  • @bonerhone FUCK NICKELBACK!

  • @Solen17 Hear hear!

  • @bonerhone they've been playing the stand in ontario!

  • i got served by the blond guy im serious :D

  • fish head lol rofl! ive never seen lyrics

  • if you pause at exactly :4:39 theres a little red fish. i love it!

  • This is sooo bad ass!

  • I saw Mother Mother live at St. Andrews Hall. The headliner was Sam Roberts, but this band was equally responded to as Sam Roberts. "Body of Years" was my favourite song by Mother Mother then, as well as now.
