I still play this on my XBOX with the megadrive rom, Infact I have all the roms u can think of, and it's for sale....all snes roms, megadrive,amiga,atari st,Nintendo 64,all 8 bit roms too and xbox games too....Offers accepted.....drop me a line. Thousands of games on a massive HD. This XBOX will blow ur mind.
I have to admit that i had a 'backup' version of this game back in the early 90s' and i also thought that there was a corrupt file. i remember cursing the swine that sold me it
Also unfortunately on the Mega Drive version at least, there was a really easy cheat, that after putting your base down with 30 men say, you could move the cursor back down to the counter and start removing them again. Meaning you start levels with 40-50 men but it only ever used up what you got the counter down to before screenchange. Which was zero half the time. :p
Few epochs in and you have massive head start on every one and sail to the end.
It is kind of a strange ending, yeah :p I thought there'd at least be some final text saying how I ruled the universe at the end. Perhaps they thought "it'sa never gonna work" and so decided against it :p
I owned the actual cartridge to thw megadrive version to this and completed it.
I'd probably say this anyway as it's what I know best but I think the megadrive ones music is superior. SNES is all cheery and high key.
The ending I remember was a little like this except there were animated sparkling stars in the background behind i think and you heard the music you heard in the opening at start and credits rolled vertically across screen after a few seconds. None of this weird speech spam.
I love old school games: hard as hell with a shitty ending as a pay-off

The only variable to the Ending Screen is the Cloak which depends on the character you beat the game with.
Scarlet = Red
Oberon = Yellow
Caesar = Green
Madcap = Blue
So even though it's a disappointing ending screen, it is changeable at the very least.

Till now I thought I had corrupted Amiga discette, and this was reason of strange voiced at the end of the game. Now I see it wasn't corruption :)

I had the original Amiga version but never got past the 7th epoch or so until I downloaded it to play on an emulator.
The megadrive's ending certainly sounds less odd.
