Ulali w/ Robbie Robertson Album: Music for the Native American Released 1994 Capital Records Inc Mahk jchi tahm buooi yahmpi gidi Mahk jchi taum buooi kan spewa ebi Mahmpi wah hoka yee monk Tahond tani kiyee tiyee Gee we-me eetiyee Nanka yaht yamoonieah wajitse A hundred years have passed Yet I hear the distant beat of my father's drums. I hear his drums throughout the land. His beat I feel within my heart. The drum shall beat so my heart shall beat. And I shall live a hundred thousand years.
May the beauty of this music and the passion of the First Nations voice strike the heart of every man, and may every man weep for the atrocities done to First Nations people. From assimilation, to reservations placed outside of urban centres, to residential schooling that tore children from their homes and obliterated their language, culture, pride and identity. This is not an 'Indian problem', it is a human one. May this music build resilience for the First Nations people.
respect native americans, wish they would respect themselves more than what they give themselves credit for, but love native songs, so relaxing and lifting at the sametime..
Im proude of my sister for being oakwaehonway and pround, Because we are Oak-way-hon-way not indian, indians live beside pakastian thier proud of who they are
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I have a copy of it from an album called Robbie Robertson and the Red Clay Ensemble. Pura Fe is one of the singers and her voice is amazing. This is surely a song that Angels sing. I have no clue as to what they are saying , but that hardly matters. They are singing of love and beauty and peace.
This is the most beautiful chant I've ever heard. I'm not native american, but I love everything about your music & culture, & I feel a deep affinity for it. Everything I hear, see or feel about your people touches me to the core. My meditation room is full of dream webs, native american statues & paintings & I listen to your music all the time. It gives me goosebumps. All non native american people should forever feel shame & sorrow for the disgusting way your beautiful ancestors were treated.
@mightypanther1,If you search through the past, I'm sad to say, you will find that every one of us has an ancestor who participated in attempts at genocide of other religions, cultures, skin colors~you name it. Do you feel shame? If you do, isn't that the first step in righting something that's been wrong since forever?

I love this song; very spiritual, very uplifting. This is teh first time I have see in on video A wonderrful experience. Thanks to whoever uploaded it
Love this video. Saw them for free in Dayton, Ohio years ago. Have lots of photos. They were in jeans, tee shirts, and ponytails and were singing in such a manner as it gave me chills. The 'yells' and 'hoots' were spine tingling. It sounded like they were in the middle of a war! This is a HUGE difference. They sound Great all the time!!!! Thanks for posting.
What a phenomenal performance! I've always been so amazed with this song. Such a peaceful lullaby... I bought this album immediately after it was released. The entire album is amazing. I've followed Robbie Robertson since his early days. Outstanding artist and performer. I'm glad he hooked up with Red Ensemble Band
it took a while to find this , but it was worth the time and effort ! ! know i will be passing this on to all my native friends , they already love the version i have , but this is "IT" ! ! !
I really love this song. I didnt know they had a live video or i would have watched before now. I saw them a LONG time ago when i was little and fell in love with this song. they always send shiver through me when i hear them live. Im pretty sure i have loved this song for more then 10 years. They are awesome! Thanks for the upload!

This is the correct one in the Tutelo-saponi language:
Our hearts are full and our minds are good
Our ancestors come and give us strength
Stand tall, sing, dance and never forget who you are
or where you come from
