I think there should be a way to see when newer channels put up their first videos. It would give people a boost right from the start. Perhaps a first-time uploaders section.
Featured videos is good but you should featured videos from people who already have somethig contribute to youtube i mean there alot of real cool people here with a lot of good stuff and from my point of view it isnt fair if you featured a video fro ma user who has got only one video :)

I think creativity and originality is something that should be appreciated. However, it seems that many videoes that aren't that great are getting featured just because they are about something that's considered important, which I think is wrong.

I would just like to see more vloggers featured. When I see vloggers featured, it's often the same people who have already been featured. ie Sxephil, Rickyste, thehill88. There's nothing wrong with those vloggers, I'd just like to see some equally talented people get some recognition. hughsnews should be featured.
YouTube's featured page is the one "feature" of youtube that the users are the least in control of. It's our main page and should be the videoes the community (or subcommunities) elect to be featured. I say tear down the page and let individual users select from a number of pages managed by users to show when they view the main page. And since users elect which featured page to see, YouTube should have hands off of these pages.
I'm curious as to how/why certain videos are featured. One of my videos made "all-time" status without being featured. You'd think that if a video is really popular, then youtube might want to feature it briefly.
It seems like a lot of featured videos are there just for marketing purposes... like that white chicks and gang signs creator... looks like he's a company that got in cahoots with youtube for featuring... I just want to see awesome videos created by average people that most would never see... I am glad that youtube's featuring introduced the winekone to me though
I do watch the featured more when there is a guest editor. I think the featured videos should always be half from youtube and half from a guest editor, it's more interesting that way.
I'm mostly completely unaware of the featured videos as I don't visit the front page of the site very often. When I do look I may watch a couple but a lot of them don't look that interesting to me. It would probably be useful if we could subscribe to the featured videos. Or maybe we can and I just haven't noticed.
From what I can tell, being "featured" is the only real way to gather a large number of subscribers. I'd like to see YouTube have a "write-in featured video" once a week, where viewers write-in to request that a certain video be featured, instead of having 100% of that huge power resting solely with the YouTube editors. It doesn't seem fair that such a small cross-section of people get to decide who becomes popular on the site. It's kind of like high school in that way.

Separate Arts and Animation. Most art films have nothing to do with manipulated Japanese cartoons. Either do away with categories or make people post in the correct ones. I'm tired of seeing ass-shakers and idiots in Pets and Animals.
Actually, I think we should have a contest. A YouTube Employee gets to pick a featured video and a certified, insane, incarcerated asylum inmate gets to pick a featured video. Then, we have to figure out which pick was by the YouTube Staff.
A lot of the time the featured videos suck pretty hard, but the YourTubeNews clique getting featured sucks even more. "Blood" was hilarious, but YouTube's fucking retarded and they unfeatured it.
He is a guy that got band for exposing Greenteagirlie as a viral video scam. She't basically a fraud. Alot of people speculate that Youtube had something to do with GTG and they weren't happy with Trevors expose about the situation.
I did not watch them for a long time, but since YT started using guest editors I have watched a few. So I think it has recently improved. You really need to get far beyond the popular and highly subscribed channels and find good but unknown content. Maybe search for random unique tags or something like that. Grouping them into categories is an improvement but maybe make those groups easier to find from the home page.
Quite honestly.. I don't watch them. They've never been to appealing to me. Ironically, Some of the most incredible videos on YT never get featured. I want to know who decides which vids get featured, and what was the reason it got picked?
I thought it would be cool if there was a feature where you could put together a play list of videos...then this play list would continuously play on the channel page in the featured video place...so when youtube brings in ad revenue sharing people could pick from a variety of clickable ad's and place them between the videos in their playlist...this would make the "channel" more in line of an actual "channel"...something of this sort would be a cool thing to use and watch

The nepotism here on YouTube is stifling. How many times are Renetto or Boh3m3 going to get featured? This must end. Guest editors are not the answer either. I suggest randomly featuring videos with more frequency. The elitism and nepotism in the top subscribed list on YouTube must end. The unfair banning of dissension must end.
I think they are ok. Diversity is key because everyone has different tastes. The ones I would like to see more of are original points of view from people that really make you think and also ones from newer unknowns that have real potential. AND little Loca! I like the concept of featuring videos, if not always the videos featured. I think the best thing to come about lately is the introduction of the guest editors. Before that, I hadn't been subscribing to anything new anymore. Keep featuring videos that represent the actual community and I'll keep watching.

I think utube needs to put a what will get you banned so don't be an ass and do these things....video. Some people don't seem to realize that revealing personal info about others, threatening others, accusing people of illegal behavior is against TOS and once you've been banned you aren't welcome back and feature it for a very very long time.
oh and also, hopefully the featured video's will be reserved for video's that aren't CONSTANTLY on the most discussed/rated...severely getting sick of seeing the same crap/people (eg.daxflame,mrpregnant, rinetto etc) I've seen tons of awesome video's from regular people who could be on the featured list, would be nice to give them their 15 minutes too!
Featured video's are pointless and a waste of space, they are only featured by one person who happens to think they are worth featuring, everyone has different views, some find baby video's funny, some don't ect. Maybe if different people pick the featured video's each time, it might get a wider variety to feature?
A video should be featured after meeting three qualifications: 1. Inspiring, entertaining or enlightening content, 2. Doesn't infringe copyright, 3. Needs the exposure. Featuring videos that are copyrighted, promote negative behavior or already have plenty of exposure is just pointless.
#1 could be perceived very differently depending on who picks the video's thats the problem (add to #3, pointless also = dogs doing the funky chicken with each other or on someone's leg...saw that featured not long ago! :/ )

i love the featured videos, but i would like to see more vlogs. just regular people that don't edit the crap out of their videos. there are some really good people out there with good things to say. i think youtube has been doing a really good job lately with the features.
I think that YouTube has done a much better job, as of late, taking the time to find really good videos to feature. It seems like they're putting effort into it now. (p.s. glad the job is going well!)

I very rarely watch featured videos as I have all the channels I subscribe to that I pretty much know I will enjoy, and I branch out by watching video responses to them or checking out people they refer me to or people who also comment on those channels.
I think it's a good idea for them to be short, but under 30 seconds is pushing it. I've added maybe 2 or 3 featured videos to my favorites out of probably hundreds watched -- not the greatest odds. I think there should be a panel of people to vote on what does or doesn't get featured. The panel? Voted on by the public --by Youtubers!

I love the guest editor program and would like to see it appear more often. I never really looked at the featured videos until the guest editors started. The guest editors seem to have their finger more on the pulse of the true YouTube community - those who interact frequently with other YouTubers via comments and video responses and have small, if devoted followings to their excellent videos.
Guest editors are great. They should do that twice a month. As far as the YouTube editors, well...probably 2 in 10 worth watching, 1 in 50 worth subscribing.

Three things: when you feature directors on the top of the home page, please expand beyond the few you constantly rotate. Love the guest editor but think you should have guest editor week with more than one guest editor so that the section stays fresh. Finally, Nalts should get his own special feature category - 'Best Nalts Video This Week'.

I DO NOT LIKE featured video that contain vulgarity. My kids have an account and I am always having to screen EVERYTHING. I thought vulgarity was a violation of the terms agreement, or atleast would get a flag for adult content abd should eliminate it form being featured. Featured Video should expose the hidden talents within the million of uploaded junk. Feature video should not be off the most viewed, or most subscribed list. That is where the people that have already been featured belong.
I don't watch featured videos that much anymore. The ones that I do watch are usually about interesting animals. It bugs me when someone who only has ONE video, gets featured. Especially if it's one of those "Hey YouTube, this is my first vlog, I hope that you like me..." kind of videos.
Featuring videos I can imagine is a nightmare. There is so much to choose from and not everyone will always be happy with the choices made. I think youtube and the guest editors have done a fine job. Keep it up man.
I agree that more artistic and high quality vids should be featured, but I actually enjoy the cute animial vids. There is already too much drama on this website, we really don't need to see more controversy on the front page. Cute animal vids are a nice diversion.

A lot of the time the featured videos suck pretty hard, but the YourTubeNews clique getting featured sucks even more. "Blood" was hilarious, but YouTube's fucking retarded and they unfeatured it.

He is a guy that got band for exposing Greenteagirlie as a viral video scam. She't basically a fraud. Alot of people speculate that Youtube had something to do with GTG and they weren't happy with Trevors expose about the situation.

I did not watch them for a long time, but since YT started using guest editors I have watched a few. So I think it has recently improved. You really need to get far beyond the popular and highly subscribed channels and find good but unknown content. Maybe search for random unique tags or something like that. Grouping them into categories is an improvement but maybe make those groups easier to find from the home page.

Quite honestly.. I don't watch them. They've never been to appealing to me. Ironically, Some of the most incredible videos on YT never get featured. I want to know who decides which vids get featured, and what was the reason it got picked?

I thought it would be cool if there was a feature where you could put together a play list of videos...then this play list would continuously play on the channel page in the featured video place...so when youtube brings in ad revenue sharing people could pick from a variety of clickable ad's and place them between the videos in their playlist...this would make the "channel" more in line of an actual "channel"...something of this sort would be a cool thing to use and watch

Nine times out of ten, the featured videos SUCK. Gimmieabreakman did a bang-up job though.
I'd suggest making the featured videos be ONLY chosen by guest editors, and once a channel gets featured, that's it. They don't get featured again.

The nepotism here on YouTube is stifling. How many times are Renetto or Boh3m3 going to get featured? This must end. Guest editors are not the answer either. I suggest randomly featuring videos with more frequency. The elitism and nepotism in the top subscribed list on YouTube must end. The unfair banning of dissension must end.

I think they are ok. Diversity is key because everyone has different tastes. The ones I would like to see more of are original points of view from people that really make you think and also ones from newer unknowns that have real potential. AND little Loca! It is about time =) hehe that girl has talent.
But all in all it is impossible to please all, so I guess this was an excellent idea. =) Keeeep smiling D! heheh

I like the concept of featuring videos, if not always the videos featured. I think the best thing to come about lately is the introduction of the guest editors. Before that, I hadn't been subscribing to anything new anymore. Keep featuring videos that represent the actual community and I'll keep watching.
Oh and don't feature renetto anymore, please. He's been pushed more than his fair share.

I think youtubia has had an obsession with the same 5-10 users (beh3m3, renetto, zipster, paperlillies, sxephil, etc) for far too long. its time to find some new "youtube stars."

I think utube needs to put a what will get you banned so don't be an ass and do these things....video. Some people don't seem to realize that revealing personal info about others, threatening others, accusing people of illegal behavior is against TOS and once you've been banned you aren't welcome back and feature it for a very very long time.

oh and also, hopefully the featured video's will be reserved for video's that aren't CONSTANTLY on the most discussed/rated...severely getting sick of seeing the same crap/people (eg.daxflame,mrpregnant, rinetto etc) I've seen tons of awesome video's from regular people who could be on the featured list, would be nice to give them their 15 minutes too!

Featured video's are pointless and a waste of space, they are only featured by one person who happens to think they are worth featuring, everyone has different views, some find baby video's funny, some don't ect. Maybe if different people pick the featured video's each time, it might get a wider variety to feature?

A video should be featured after meeting three qualifications: 1. Inspiring, entertaining or enlightening content, 2. Doesn't infringe copyright, 3. Needs the exposure. Featuring videos that are copyrighted, promote negative behavior or already have plenty of exposure is just pointless.

i love the featured videos, but i would like to see more vlogs. just regular people that don't edit the crap out of their videos. there are some really good people out there with good things to say. i think youtube has been doing a really good job lately with the features.

I very rarely watch featured videos as I have all the channels I subscribe to that I pretty much know I will enjoy, and I branch out by watching video responses to them or checking out people they refer me to or people who also comment on those channels.

I think it's a good idea for them to be short, but under 30 seconds is pushing it. I've added maybe 2 or 3 featured videos to my favorites out of probably hundreds watched -- not the greatest odds. I think there should be a panel of people to vote on what does or doesn't get featured. The panel? Voted on by the public --by Youtubers!

I must admit that the videos that are featured do not tend to interest me to much. I still look to see if something catches my eye, and yes, I have watched some, but by and large the videos featured are not the kind of thing I like.

I love the guest editor program and would like to see it appear more often. I never really looked at the featured videos until the guest editors started. The guest editors seem to have their finger more on the pulse of the true YouTube community - those who interact frequently with other YouTubers via comments and video responses and have small, if devoted followings to their excellent videos.

Hmmm...I used to really enjoy the featured videos a couple of months ago...now? not so much. The featured vdeos should be more carefully chosen, and although i do like the idea of a guest editor, I think that featured videos should be chosen with more care.

I rarely watch featured videos. I usually go directly to my subscriptions. I have noticed the featured videos on the side bar are often old ones that have already been featured many times before. Also, I hear that being featured can lead to lots of hater comments. I think it would be cool to be able to nominate a video to be featured.

Three things: when you feature directors on the top of the home page, please expand beyond the few you constantly rotate. Love the guest editor but think you should have guest editor week with more than one guest editor so that the section stays fresh. Finally, Nalts should get his own special feature category - 'Best Nalts Video This Week'.

I HATE IT WHEN a popular youtuber espcially on of the top 20, has a vidoe featured. Everyon who wants to is already going to see the video. Let the small user get featured. Thats how most got to the top.

I DO NOT LIKE featured video that contain vulgarity. My kids have an account and I am always having to screen EVERYTHING. I thought vulgarity was a violation of the terms agreement, or atleast would get a flag for adult content abd should eliminate it form being featured. My kids have got to be able to go somewhere without me having to watch EVERY SIUNGLE VIDEO FROM START TO END!

Oh good, I'm glad you made this video. I wanted to let YouTube know that I really like what they've done with the featured videos lately. The whole Guest Editor thing is great, IMO! I never used to watch many featured videos, but now I can usually find one a day or so that I want to watch. I really like seeing people that I like being featured, of course. :)

i think they're for the post par balanced, but i have noticed the very few number of featured videos from the ages younger than 15, true the intertest may not be related because the person picking the videos is most likley older, but a big percentage of youtubers are under 15 and that is the only problem i see.. =\

Featured Video should expose the hidden talents within the million of uploaded junk. Feature video should not be off the most viewed, or most subscribed list. That is where the people that have already been featured belong.

I don't watch featured videos that much anymore. The ones that I do watch are usually about interesting animals. It bugs me when someone who only has ONE video, gets featured. Especially if it's one of those "Hey YouTube, this is my first vlog, I hope that you like me..." kind of videos.

I agree that more artistic and high quality vids should be featured, but I actually enjoy the cute animial vids. There is already too much drama on this website, we really don't need to see more controversy on the front page. Cute animal vids are a nice diversion.
