  • I looks like a forrester, it's more expensive than a classic defender, it's wheels are race car like.

I won't buy one , I am trying to get hold of the old defender while it's still available new.

That should appreciate while the new one comes out!!!

  • my friends dad work for landrove so me and him get exclusive pics and vids

  • Those look like fantastic townie tyres !! How about some renderings with a set of Mud Terrains on it or isnt this supposed to go off road??

& that interior .....once a year I hose out my Defender - will I still be about to do that?????

I'm currently on my 5th LWR Defender - it looks like my current '07 will be the last. Time to go & have a word with Toyota-san

  • @mikevj100 Hi since you have so many defenders I wonder if u can shine some light on my quiries?

    1. Is the 07 defender troublesome or trouble free?

    2. Do u have any comments on the now 2.2 freelander engine in the defender range?

3.Is it better to buy 110 or the 90 ?

    4. In your opinion, while is more liked by die hard defender fans?

    Thank you!

  • This is neither a landy nor a defender, its a lousy lady car. Fits for rich chickies to bring their fat children to the school door …

  • The Defender will be illegal from a crash and CO2 perspective in most of the world anytime soon. Legislation has moved on and it has had it's day. So has to get replaced- or killed. Deal with it. Would you rather LR just stopped? - or would you rather that they keeping trying to make a peerless off roader?

  • It looks ok move with the times ffs ! They should make this 1 and the old skool defender

  • THIS IS WHAT A GAY FARMER DRIVES

  • Well that looks like the mini countryman from the side! not sure about that. The defender was always supposed to be a farmers workhorse..... a no frills 4x4 and I think they've made a big enough hash of the new one with a transit engine!

  • A big miss on the design here. The Rover should look muscular, strong, efficient and handsome without affectation. It is in a class by itself. This looks similar to a Kia or a Honda. I suspect it well not sell well.

  • Has Landrover got it right? NO they've just signed their own Death warrant on the Defender range.

The 110 TD5 SW was the last of the Great Defenders. Could i submerge this up to the tax disc without an electrical breakdown and then wash it inside as well as out No.

The Military won't want it, Farmers won't want it UGLY Yank looking pimped van.

  • I feel sorry for Land Rover, they produce an amazing updated Defender range and the best you can do is whinge. What's wrong guys, will you miss crawling around under the bonnet attempting to fix outdated technology? God bless, what WILL you all do with your spare time when you have a vehicle that actually works? And so what if LR are owned by Tata, the vehicles are designed and made in Britain providing jobs for British workers for crying out loud. Talk about ungrateful ^^

  • @sgtgrash i can tell you've never owned a defender. talk about uneducated jeez

  • I assume we are market research - having posted up millions of comments I'm sure.

I hate it - from every angle it's an expensive Skoda Yeti - just uglier

Put in the LandRover museum as 'don't deisgn anything when you've been drinking at lunchtime'..

  • @Trev1ize

Land Rover is now owned by Tata. Its a fair bet they'll move Defender production to India.

  • @Trev1ize ment the defender 90 and 110 >.< i dont want this.... thing

(proud owner of a 1990 range rover)

  • i liked everything but the front end that is ugly!!! and guys we still can build reliable and durable cars in 21 century. sometimes u need to move on. but does old def deserve to be retired? NO!!! upgrade? YES!!!

  • I need a car that can tow 3 1/2- 4T, I need a car that if it gets a ding it's cheap to fix. I need a car that I can take out to the middle of nowhere and not be afraid of an electrical fault. And above all I need to be able to afford it I need a Defender that retains all of that. Thumbs up if you want to put a message through to the developers.

  • i've got a ninety as my work vehicle, i'm a mechanic.

lots of trailers, towing cars, recoveries and such.

when i need to upgrade, what will i buy? not 1 brand makes utility 4x4's anymore :(.

keep in mind that i'll never ever will depart from the ninety, i'll keep it running until there are no more spares left or can make them myself.

  • @savagedefender

There is Iveco Massif for you, that is a utility 4x4. Defender copy essentially.

  • @9K58

iveco has stopped making it :( and it's on the chassis of a series 3,109 with parabolic springs. only the 2.8 engine is an improvement.

my 90 200tdi still has got some good times in it, so i still have time to look around ;)

  • TOTAL CRAP!

  • Where did you get those images of the interior?

  • The car itself is good but it just isn't a defender and doesn't deserve its title

  • Well, thankfully it's only a concept. However, it would be nice for the next version to have sufficient legroom (ie, not built for pigmy's), adequate room for the right elbow and much, much more. The marque does need to be updated and upgraded, but it should be done responsibly and properly. BTW, anyone else see the resemblence between the short wheelbase version of the concept and the modern Mini? I hate Minis of all ages and would NEVER buy any vehicle even closely resembling one.

  • Huuuuhhuuuu BonBay model shittttty...U guys are outoff mind. very uuugly concept..if u change that, everybody will hate you guys Im telling the true. Think again !!!

  • @Trev1ize i have no idea how much it cost but i would LOVE land rover to sell defenders in the US!

  • I want the original defend

  • how many farmers are gonna use this???

  • @Trev1ize - anyone with half a brain would realise that sales of the current car have fallen through the floor, its very labour intensive to build and not profitable. Sitting back and keeping the current Defender in production would be a good way to kill JLR. This new car may not appeal to people with beards who smell of old undrpants, but will do nicely for everyone else!

  • Hey don't be hard on them, I mean, your brawny Rover's gone Bollywood n Now goes by this gorgeous name, "The Bombay Wagon!" Suck it up!!

  • what happen, more of the regular plastic... we want the original to keep showing the world why is the best

  • looks absolutely atrocious. RIP Defender.

  • That's.....that's kinda gay.

  • @Trev1ize if i won the euro millions i would do it and the original mini

  • es un asco una verguenza tirar al basurero la tradicion de tantos años y prestigio de un defender.

mas parece un mini cooper 4x4

  • fuck this piece of shit thats that answered for!!!!

  • Iwould rather they stop production than call this crap defender shame on you land rover I think I will be keeping my 90 going for as long as possible

  • Cant believe this piece of shit is designed by british designers! Landrover say theyre willing to change it, the arent happy with the front of back or puffed out shape, so you never know! Thing is this car is used for the army, medics workers and farmers, this design suits none of this, they can change the old one to fit airbags and what have you, if you have to redesign the chassis, design it to be a 4X4 and not a chelsea tractor, theyre concentrating on looks and 'bling' only yet it still doe

  • Freson! Nunca ha salido del asfalto ese disenador !!!!

  • Its a freelander! A womens schoolrun chelsea tractor, defender buyers wont have it, and the mums will want a freelander, its crap, theres no ground clearance, it has low profile wheels that look like a chav and it looks like a giant bmw mini on stilts, the old defender was good and cool, keep the old one, or design this one to be a 4X4 for farmers and workers and off road clubs, this will be no match for a series 1 which was made in the 40's, itll be worse than the one five generations ago, pl

  • FUUUUCK!!! We want the old one asswhole!

  • No place to stand your mug of coffee/tea on the wings for a starter. Get rid of the electronics, give us something we can work on and with, this isn't it. Give us something we can personalise. Come on Land Rover, listen to your buyers. Thinks my 90 will have to be kept going until they put me in my wooden box.

  • outlook good, interior sucks

  • No.

    Thats not a Defender.

  • i want SVX.

  • nie przechodzi mi przez mysl ze ktos chce tak zeszpecic tak piekne i nie zastapione auto. NIE NIE NIE I JESZCZE RAZ NIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is an abomination. Get rid of those rediculous "bling" wheel for starters.

  • Why change something that has been working so well for decades?

  • FAKE AND GAY

  • people who buy Defenders are the opposite of the ones that buy this "thing".

    Makes no sense whatsoever..

  • "final features could include a terrain response system that uses cameras to monitor the surface ahead and change the car's setup accordingly "

What is happening to the western world?

Why do intelligent humans require technology to make critical decisions for us and just who is pushing this new ideal?

This could be the beginning of a completely new world of regulation and automation, probably including sexual intercourse.

This is what happens when the world's dross ruin it for everyone.

  • looks like crap

  • I think the defender concept looks like a 2003 Nissan Xterra, this a big fail for landrover,Jaguar got it right with the XJ,but this is way off the mark.

  • WHAT A DISGRACE!

Who is in charge of LR's Design Team?

Oh, I forgot a bunch of Indians.

Visit any british town centre and see how (most) Indian lads like produce a "sick" looking car, or the "anti-english" effect.

A Classic has been fucking ruined.

    I couldn't care less if i've offended - i speak the truth.

  • as long as you can;

Hose the inside out when it gets dirty..

Load it up with over a tonne of gear..

Get over difficult terrain with front and rear live axles..

be sure that their is no plastic on the outside..

tow up to 4.7tonne (depending on the hitch)..

wash the outside down with a broom..

and not be concerned when muddy river water is swishing around your ankles..

then it might qualify as a replacement.

  • If this car surposed to take over from the Defender - I will vomit!

I have a Defender, so I reckon I know what a Defender Driver wants.........and that is a live axled, tough, heavey duty, large payload, truck like vehicle, that you can hose out.

This is another FJ Crusier fiasco, which is nothing more than a compromised, road going plastic bubble car crossed with a mini minor, design for soccer mums, and kids.

we want another heavy duty truck..............or let the legend die.

  • To, The Honorable makers of Defender,

I saw the Defender in own shape, Like lion in the jungle.

but now this design is not suitable for my station wagon in the future..

but as u like I could not talk about our companion.. Muhammad Bilal Shah bilal_shah830@yahoo.com. 00923457965094.

  • NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is horrible. kill whoever came up with this idea. this is an abomination. its as bad as the nissan juke ffs! don't do this, not to the defender. it deserves better.

  • This is not a real 4x4, it's just a another Display Cabinet for a Trophy Wife.

  • Apart from the stupid wheels I think this could work as a new Defender.

  • Land Rover, don't shoot your own foot! Keep the classic defender! If you want to sell this thing too, fine, but do not cease production of a classic AND PROVEN design!

  • ugly as fuuuck!! an other road machine not an OFF-roader!!

  • the old defender is a military machine......the DC100 is a loser like the new Humvees

  • Come on !! this is just a new SUV ! it's definitly not a defender ! In 2015, if you want a real offroader, buy a Toyota (i cannot belive i said that !)

  • Land Rover GOT IT WRONG. Its another free lander.

  • this is not a defender, it's a murder of a legend !

  • What the hell! is with the low profile tires its meant to go offroad and have flex in the sidewall, but noooo coz that aint trendy enough for the city slicker pr*ck who wants to show his mates how in touch with the countryside he is..........

  • or banned rover

  • all enthusiast should get together and bring back the landy.. but we call our company the BAND rover..

  • Comment removed

  • Utter shite. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. How can LR have the nerve to call this a Defender. What a piece of crap.

  • Bieber fans have taken control of Land Rover

  • looks part mini part toyota which is fine for any other model car, except this one you fucks

  • Leave the defender as it is. Softening it up will make it just like all the others. Who needs airbags? Bump a tree in the middle of nowhere and get the bag to go off. What then ? you may be left in a dire life or death situation.

  • wank

  • okey, im going to stop buying defenders and will hav to buy a hummer V. i didnt wanted to, but seems like i might have to.

  • FUCK THE GUY WHO INVENTED THIS PIECE OF PLASCTIC SHIT, BURN HIM DOWN MOTHER FUCKER.

  • I liked the 90-95 Defender Expedition better than this.

This looks good and it looks like they borrowed the design from the Ford Bronco concept.. They clearly used the Ford Explorer for their Evoque so it's very possible they borrowed the Bronco concept as well.

  • I think it's a step in the right direction, looks great but still functional. The SWB version looks like a Skoda Yeti on steroids.

  • Stop getting homosexaul art students to design a real car and how about talking to farmers, military and off roaders what they really want from a land rover. Not a fucking hair dressers car but something to throw the dogs and crap in.

  • Would i like to report this video as inappropriate? YES! this is a terrible thing to do! replace the worlds most iconic off roader with this fashion accesory?

  • Would i like to report this video as inappropriate? YES! this is a terrible thing to do! replace the worlds most iconic off roader with this fashion accesory?

  • bull shit

  • This is bullshit. The defender does not have to deviate this far from the original concept! My 2007 Wrangler still has live axles, still dominates off road, is built to the latest safety standards and it is still built and looks like a wrangler! This DC100 is soft as shit! Long Live THE Defender!

  • @JKmanglerCRD I think the Wrangler is the perfect example of where Landrover should be taking the Defender (after all the original Land Rover was inspired by the wartime Jeep) modernise it, but don't stray too far from the original concept. The Wrangler, the Unimog and other utility vehicles have become more comfortable over the years while retaining their usefulness. So should the Defender.

  • @SteamboatWilley If LR makes the new Defender look like a Wrangler I will never buy another Defender. The Defender simply needed to be a bit wider for the seats and and to comply with new safety regs. If people want bling then why not buy a Range Rover or a Discovery. I love the fact that I can sink my 20 year old Defender and not worry about saying goodbye to it due to electronics etc. Think I'll be keeping it for a lot longer.

  • @pooperscooper71 Land Rover would never have existed without Jeep! I love land rovers too and owned and drove theme for years but the new wrangler is so much better off road and has loads more articulation so I got one. This DC100 only serves to prove to me that land rover have lost there minds. The guy who designed the freelander is in charge of the DC100 and all true land rover fans know the freelander is a steaming pile of dog shit! Long Live Defender, Wrangler, G wagen, Patrol, L Cruiser.

  • Can I clean it out by spraying it out with a hose? Or will that ruin the upholstery? If so it aint a defender. I need a work horse that can take the mud and dust and abuse, where scratches on the paintwork are simply signs of propper use.

  • The lwb is an fn mini clubman, !!!!!!

  • Hey there is a jewish star on the rims!

  • The current defender is banned in the us and wil be banned in Europe pretty soon due to safety issue ie crumple zones air bags pedestrian impact zones etc so land rover have to work round these issues in designing the new defender look at the series one and the current defender totally different if you look in detail you can see defender in there and being a defender owner I know it's in need of updating it's only because it's an icon we love and put up with them if they were anything else we

  • Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, will all be rubbing there hands glee, there is not a company or serious hobby offroader out there that will buy this bloody thing. What a waste. Whay exactly are they changing the old one?

  • I cant see the DC100 being the defender of the future, can you see this being modified to carry out all the tasks the defender can? Can you see a farmer using this as a serious workhorse? This is nothing more than another chelsea tractor in the making I cant see this concept's character being improved with years of use, a few scrapes and dings will not add to the character of this vehicle. And do we seriously think that they will get the same following/fan base. A restored 40 year old DC100 ???

  • I feel sooo sad, almost sick to my stomach who on earth would buy this ugly idea

  • Show us what it can do better than the old one and we'll pass our judgements then......

  • Looks like Land Rover does not have an idea of what the Defender stand for, it never was and never will be a fashion or trendy car.

From the very conception it is a work tool, so versatile that itself converted to legend. A legend that enabled the sales of all the other LR brands.

Don't get me wrong, I know the current design is outdated, LR needs to improve:

Reliability, Greener and more powerful powertrain, reliability, Working HVAC, Cheaper to build body, reliability, Ergonomics

  • u have to be joking

  • NOOOOOOOO , on just sooooo many levels.

  • search for a toyota FJ

  • Has Land Rover got it right? NO! They've lost the plot. I adore my Land Rover, but this new approach is, for want of a better expression, a dead duck. The Evoque has it's place and is a reasonably good looking vehicle, but replacing the Defender with a watered down more boxed version of the Evoque is NOT the way to go.

  • to answer the question, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • looks like Land Rover have sold their design!!! Sad.

Have a search for 'Iveco Massif'

  • killing a leyend.

  • As we know the Defender had to change but as we can see the icon will be lost, but this means more reasons to keep the old ones on the road, I'm going to keep mine.

  • @2234jones

Why did it have to change?

It was perfect the way it was.

What Land Rover did was take an iconic 4x4 Legend and turn it into another ugly, useless SUV for soccer moms and richkids.

We can only hope that Merc doesnt jump on this bandwagon with the w461,then we would have lost the two greatest offroaders ever in less than a decade.

  • @Riotstarter77 well sad news: Merc gonna discontinue production of G-class. they launched G-class "Final Edition" this year...

  • @doluss

    You gotta be fucking kidding.

I head they wanted to stop making the short wheelbase version, but i always thought they would continue with the long base version.

as far as i know they've even got contracts with the australian military to build another 6000 over the next few years

  • @2234jones i agree, my defender will be the last car ill ever own, i love my 110 TD5

  • This is a soccer mom grocery getter...The new Defender MUST retain the name, ability and identity of the old. This looks like the next freelander...You can not mess with the ICON of Land Rover as it has been the backbone of the whole brand since inception. Any competant designer can freshen up the Defender, this is a joke. bunker sized windows, rubber band tires....Need visability and high seating! I'm going to be sick now.

  • Thank GOD I got my SVX

  • la mort d'un mythe , remplacé par un suv amélioré!

    land rover m'a tuer!

  • not at all...its the end of the Defender.....someone has to buy the old design and produce it as a kit car so the legend lives on
