the only downsides IMO to this phone is the battery life (I use about 60% of the battery in 6 hours) which isn't to bad, but a big step down from my old phone which broke (Sony Ericsson W580i) the loudspeaker isnt really loud, so if your a music person for your phone then this might not be for you, but if your using it to call and text then go ahead, only 2 conns :D Overall, excellent phone with the Android system, HD display, it's also really strong as well for a touch phone :)

I think this phone is quite nice. If i compare this with the nokia N8 they are both great phones. HTC desire HD is faster but the nokia N8 is smaller and has a better camera. It depends on what u are going to use ur phone for. is it for playing games? or is it for snapping pictures. Front camera is only good if u call a lot with video-calling. Nokia also has 16gb Intern + SD ram up to 32gb. But HTC runs on android, most new people work better with android then symbian. Ur choise

@wafcarl Dude, have you ever tried this phone? : / I'm a iPhone user myself, but my friend got this phone, and I have seen the Performance of the HTC Desire HD.. it's open source. Both iPhone and HTC Desire HD are amazing phones. Nothing wrong with battery life, and it's NOT old crappy technology, Front facing camera is useless, nothing wrong with the speakers and you can just change the fucking ringtone. Try things out before complaining, please ;).

I owned an Iphone4 for the last 5months until i accidentally dropped it on the the freeway driving my motorcycle. I apparently did not remember to zip my pocket jacket. About the Iphone4, the OS is FLAWLESS...that's all i can say. @Excelsoft bigger, heavier, better camera (8MP compared to 5), has the latest android software (original desire may get it one day, who knows) , more RAM and a newer processor, although both are rated the same speed its probably a bit snappier! :) Hope that helps, any more questions ask me 2mo, when mine gets delivered ;)

The iPhone looks so much sleeker and smooth. At the end of the day, every single mobile phone company are trying replicate the iPhone.

So many times they have tried, but keep failing. Touchscreen phones were brought out for ease of use, but they cant understand that.

Then, all these buttons on the front of them, yet none of them swith the phone out of standby mode, you have to use the main power button at the top.

With such a humongous device as the desire hd, that's a real two handed operation.

The speaker is truly horrific on this phone. It's the worst I've ever heard. The quality is appalling. My N73 from 4 years ago sounds a LOT better than this, let alone my iPhone 4!

The battery life is quite simply atrocious.

I found the on board messaging very annoying. I don’t like threads, or SMS mixed up with social networking posts

Again, the built in app is awful, try downloading the "Handcent" app it's a great SMS/MMS program that works just like the iPhone’s.

The sim card cover is made of a brittle plastic and fails to sit flush with the aluminum back. The side-mounted battery lid is pretty much a nightmare with the no retention for the power cell, which just slides out and falls on the floor.

The aluminum sticks out in front of the screen, the problem is apparent on both sides of the display, it's just a failure on HTC's part, The Desire HD rests directly on the camera lens itself, which anyone serious about photography would cringe at. The screen?

Whilst in town decided to call in Phones4U and check this out.

This phone is quite frankly garbage. I was expecting a nice aluminium rear, not a rear full of cheap plastic panels.

The screen is terrible, why no amoled or retina? I asked the lady in Phones4U and she was lets unable to answer.

Previous phones I've bought, I have taken pictures and reviews off the net, thank goodness I went to the store and tried this thing.

Looking around the store, the original desire looked nice, this is awful.

I wanted this phone to be brilliant. What I simply can not understand or excuse, why did HTC not complete the jigsaw. Everything to make this phone be the best in the world was there, but they declined to do it.

Major design flaws including the camera stuck out the back of the device.

Poor quality plastics over sim and battery trays.

Mediocre battery life. Surely, more memory, more power and enormous screen would set the alarm bells ringing on battery life?
