  • While I generally like Bob Mould's songs better, Grant Hart is definitely a better singer. That said, this is one of Husker Du's best.

  • @beowulvem. Yeah I know they have two gays members in Husker Du. How does that negate the fact you're a zero?

  • glad I know their music. Always underestimated...

  • @ebisu2001 indeed, like the pixies and dinosaur jr.

  • great band. quite old school. a little too lyrically sincere for me. never liked bob moulds voice much. no doubting their integrity though

  • @ambientfairchild You do know this is Grant Hart singing on this one, right? Maybe you should comment on a song that Mould had the lead vocals.

  • @captaindaring of course i know. i was making a general remark about the bands music overall. i always preferred grants vocals, eg dont want to know if you are lonely, sorry somehow etc. still a great band. deserved monetary success. hipster, cool alternative success may be enough in your 20s and 30s maybe but after that you need some cash in hand. anyway captaindaring moulds vocals always irked me a bit. good songwriter, annoying vocal style, coolest v guitar though.

  • the only thing that i have against this song is that the last two verses arn't long enough

  • the song is important in the way you interpet it. if it is about you and your girl, guy or cat. you bring as much to the song emotionally as the writer did. he didn't write it for you, so however it makes you feel is what matters.

love can not be boxed and sold only between this type of person and that type of person. stop worrying about all of that. live your life trying not to be judgemental and miserable to other people.

love finds itself and be glad for those who find it.

  • Do the Du.

  • What a beautiful song. Well played, Grant Hart.

  • I think it's funny when husker du has love songs that sound like there about girls but are actually about guys

  • @alkalinenofx but this song is about a cat

  • @LeotheOrangeCat really? never knew that are you sure?

  • @alkalinenofx I read that somewhere, but I cannot find any reference to that now, so I am not sure at all. It may have just been another online comment. Also, I believe what I read said it was about Bob's cat. Since this is Grant's song, I doubt that.

Anyway, I sing the song to my cat and for me, it's about a cat.

  • @LeotheOrangeCat I saw Grant Hart with Nova Mob in June of 1992 and made a point to ask him about this song, and I can confirm that it's about a cat. Grant said that he wrote the song on the piano originally, and there was a cat sitting on top of the piano with beautiful green eyes. I don't remember whether he mentioned whether it was Bob's cat. I made him write out the chords on a scrap of paper -- I'll see if I can dig it out of my archives. There's a tricky diminished chord in the chorus.

  • @MarvinValidbook cool thanks

  • @alkalinenofx yeah but I don't want to know if you are lonely is about guy and nothing wrong with being gay but it sounds so weird when you know it's about a guy

  • love the du

  • ganzo!

  • Amazing song!

  • ya grant hart is one of the best song writers i know till this day

  • Bob mould is the better writer of the two.

  • lennon and mccartney were both equally phenomenal songwriters, it just seems like mccartney got all the credit cuz he wrote all the pop oriented songs and lennon wrote songs that came from the heart... not to mention george harrison, he was also a genius but he never gets any credit... if john and paul are both michael jordans, then george is a scotty pippen!!

  • I agree, it's all about Grant Hart, although Mould gets most the attention. This song is just amazing + beautiful.

  • this song really psych' my mind!!!

  • they were pretty much like Lennon and McCartney. Hart being McCartney and Mould being Lennon. The pair was just as prolific as The Beatles were and their entire repertoire is phenomenal and timeless music

  • @weezadam I definetly agree with the Lennon/McCartney comparison, except i think it's the opposite way around, at least in Husker Du's later years. Mould ended up takin all legal and most creative control of the band just like McCartney in the Beatles (post Brian Epstein). I guess thats what happens when you cram too much brain melting awesomeness into one band. Although i gotta admit Grant was the pretty boy lmao

  • and I always loved this song because I have green eyes.

  • Another fantastic Grant Hart song --- and jgnet911, Bob and Grant wrote a ton of amazing songs together. Listen to Bob's guitar playing on this track and you can see those guys were symbiotic. BUT everyone forgets about Greg Norton (bass player) who was like Andy Rourke in the Smiths, poor guy never gets any credit. The basslines tie Bob+Grant. .

  • @MrGoatEyes Damn i always thought the same thing about Rourke and Norton, both incredible bass players, bot underrated.

  • Of all the great Husker Du songs, this one is my favorite. Who says punk can't be beautiful?

  • love them forever.

  • One of my favorite songs from this group. Thanks for posting it!

  • i love this song, thanks

  • bob mould is the best writer hands down. list the songs from both and it becomes apparent!!

  • Love how this song sounds like it was recorded at the Staples Center.. HUGE

  • love this

  • i agree, grant was the best songwriter in husker du...... love them all ......

  • This song makes me so proud to have green eyes. Haha. d:

  • If I'm ever fortunate enough to marry, this is what will be played. Even if she has brown eyes.

  • @beowulven Ok Loser

  • @beowulven If I ever marry? Stop jerking off to gay porn and move outta moms place.

  • @lid107

Strong words coming from a middle-aged internet troll. You realize that two members of Husker Du are gay themselves, yes?

  • @lid107 Wow...thats nice....maybe he just hasn't found the right girl yet?? >.>

  • @lid107 Ah thank you for reassuring me that society has no hope of forward movement. I was getting a bit skeptical there.

  • i love this song

    remember my ex-girlfriend

    she is a green eyes..

    FERNANDA I LOVE YOU!!

  • @gilbertoaz09 now shes giving head

  • I take it the Huskers are still big in Inverness then?

  • one of the first bands i started to listen to when i was a wee lad! good to hear bob has a new album!

  • wee lad ? i take it yer from my neck of thre woods Inverness

  • Husker Du was a super-awesome band that had such a real and raw energy that you don't see much anymore. All you have to do is watch them live on stage to see how genuine their music is. Really wish they would get back together.

  • Yeah!!!!! I dedicated this song to a French girl once :)

  • eye hart Grant

  • Spot on re; Paul Stanley !!!!! I never heard it before but you are correct , sir - this song kills

  • Wow... Been listening to HD since 84' ; before that it was the standard rock stuff. Kiss being one of them. I had at one time all four of the picture disks of the KISS solo albumns and Paul's was alway my favorite. Grant does sound a bit like Paul, but with a little Barbs thrown in.

  • I see what you mean about the KISS comparison, but it's pretty superficial. Don;t let it get in the way of understanding and appreciating a quality band like Husker Du (all due respect to KISS - second concert I ever saw as a kid, back in79).

  • It's really almost hypnotic. One of my very favorite Husker Du songs.

  • Haha, I've always said this song reminds me of KISS. I come in this clip & read someone else saying the same thing. Sounds great.

  • This is a great song but the paul stanley thing is true. its like Kiss on barbituates

  • yeah when you put it that way it makes this sound like the weakest Kiss song ever!

  • I love Grant's voice! (I agree, somewhat like PS)

  • Anyone else think Grant's voice sounds (just) a bit like Paul Stanley's?

  • Folks have said this far better than I can, but if I'd known Grant and Bob (my heros in the mid-eighties) were gay, I would have felt stronger, and in good company.

  • Likewise. Of course, I was always accused of having homophobic taste in music by 'my' community leaders, because I didn't listen to Pet Shop Boys or Erasure and preferred to listen to Lou Reed or Husker Du, so I'm not sure my company would have improved. ;)

  • Better than Nirvana.

  • Mmn ... definitely one of my desert island tracks : )

  • It's odd that my favorite Husker song is sung by the drummer, same thing with Queen (I'm in love with my car).

  • I've always been partial to I'm Sticking With You and Afterhours by the Velvets, and Dirty Water by the STandells, and What I Like About You by The Romantics. Hmmm, I to seem to favour drummers... :)

  • I just heard Grant Hart sing this song at the Bug Jar in Rochester, NY! It's a keeper!

  • That kicks ass.

  • Love this song - reminds me of a girl with great errrr oral skills.....................! and lovely green eyes.

  • hello how are yuo im not too good but im still try 2 xpress myself any why i good you tube is awesome i wanted to hear husker du boom there it is rockonbonzo76

  • "Husker du" (Do you remember?) like in norwegian?

  • yes

  • My favorite Husker album. It's definitely the one I listen to the most.

  • This is a brilliant album. My only criticism is that the guitar sounds muffled and..I dunno, it's a bit like you're listening to it with cotton wool in your ears, as compared with the sound of New Day Rising, for example. Maybe the production engineers had a different point of view on this album, or something. But I just prefer Husker Du's guitars to sound sharper than it does on this album.

Apart from that one criticism, it's a superb song.

  • <3. enough said.

  • There was a promo album called "Do You Rememeber" which was a Husker greatest hits album. I saw it in a used record store in friggin' Bellingham, WA and ALMOST bought it. I looked for it later and they told it was for radio stations only and was NOT AVAILABLE to the public. Timing is everything.

  • Ebay, dude.

  • I need tabs for these, please, if someone gets them send them to me!

  • I'm just playing my daughter's 3/4 size acoustic along with this - last part is Bb A Bb A F C Dm A Bb Db F.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • great song, grant hart is the better writer of the two.

  • I liked Grant's music better, but liked Bob's lyrics better. Or is it the other way 'round?

  • ya Bob is a good at lyrics like makes no sense at all

  • yeah its the othern way around ya dafty

  • @jgnet911 I prefer Bob. I like his rougher sound. However, Grant's songs are a nice break from Bob's. Grant is a great songwriter. Flip Your Wig is probably my favorite Husker Du song.

  • @jgnet911 good joke

  • @jgnet911: As of last week when I finally saw Grant play this song (among many others) live, I completely agree with your opinion.

  • Thank you for posting this... one of my fave songs ever.

  • simply amazing... as everything hüsker dü did
