Thank you so much for posting this song! I have looked for this song since 1969, and everyone thought I was nuts, they never heard of "The Brotherhood" etc. I have even searched youtube before, to no avail. WOW. 41 years searching for a song, and thanks to you I have it finally,LOL.
Thank you everybody for appreciating the Brotherhood music. Let me set the record straight. I'm still here, and still rocking. I just released a new single May 1, 2011. Check my website. Let me correct a few errors here. Guy Webster was our photographer. Ron Collins is not on this song. That's Lee Michaels on organ. Johny Barbata on Drums, Drake Levin, guitar, Phil "Fang" Volk, lead vocals, & Chris Etheridge on Bass. This was an all-star band assembled for this song only. - Fang here
This (2nd) album rocks a bit harder than the debut, and includes two other covers: The Beatles' "When I Get Home" (originally on the US Something New LP) and a h-e-a-v-y version of The Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreaming" that is a bit reminiscent of Vanilla Fudge.
Jim Valley recorded some unreleased (and now lost) tracks with producer Curt Boettcher. He is still VERY active musically.
The two Brotherhood LPs were never reissued on CD (at least not yet!), nor was the third album called Joyride / Friend Sound," a Zappa/Stockhausen influenced freakout that well worth hearing.
Well, this is an interesting version of a country song. Phil "Fang" Volk is my daughter's favorite Raider. She loves to watch Where The Action is videos with mom - a 1st generation Raider fan. I can't find much information on The Brotherhood. I hope their records (and that's what they were) sold well. I was under the impression they did mostly folk music? PHIL, WHEREVER YOU ARE - THANKS FOR THE MUSIC AND THE COMEDY; BEST WISHES!! Peace & Love to ALL.
@mjcamck71 Thanks for the comment. Fang is my favorite Raider as well, I have one album and the other I just ordered off ebay from Brotherhood, I don't think they were big sellers. And basically all their songs have this sort of beat to them, I don't really think they're folk rock.
@SixtiesMusicLover - reply appreciated. Sounds like you're a major Smith, Volk & Levin fan. Was Jim Valley (aka Harpo as you know) in Brotherhood? I had thought they left the Raiders because they wanted to shift gears musically and hop on the late 60's folk music bandwagon. I was hoping they had found success - sounds like it was moderate. At least, I suspect they enjoyed having control over the processes. Anyway, thank you for the information. Peace & Love.
@mjcamck71 Harpo was not in Brotherhood, I think he tried to make himself a solo career, I found a song called Try Try Try by Harpo on here...I guess he didn't get far after departure from The Raiders.
@SixtiesMusicLover no this is more straight rock from the late 60's with all the usual bells an whistles and swirly effects but a great rawness, you know there is a new page on Facebook called FANG ALLIANCE NEW GENERATION (F.A.N.G) they want to get %00 people on that page but have so far 421 Phil and Drake and Smitty are my faves too.

@MenFromUncle1 I love the cover of California Dreaming...I knew it reminded me of another band ha I do see the similarity to Vanilla Fudge.

The other cute one in the group. Too bad he isn't a better singer.
Thanks for the upload, You seem to find the recordings I had missed when I was younger. Sometimes that is a good thing...
