@killacitybaby I'm 100% with you. I've had 5 Dobies down thru the years and if you train, care for and love them as you would a best friend, they will return the devotion many times over. Get one from a good breeder with the tail docked and the dew claws removed and have its ears done at about 3 months old. Great choice for a companion.
So typical of a Dobie, they'll play catch, but they play on their terms too. Too bad they had so much negative press years ago as they are truly one of the premiere breeds of dog. I've had 6 over the years and each one was unique and a pleasure to have.

im a huge dobie lover had my girl for 10 years docking is now ilegal im uk unless it is a working dog, although i do prefer them docked, but i have to say i much prefer their natural ears, i think is it a cruel an unnecessary feature. sorry to offend but they are dropped for a reason to keep insects etc out having open ears cant be good.

That means guard dog as well as volunteer work at a seniors home or hospital. It's a way to get around that silly silly law. More Doberman owners should look into it. Cropping and Docking is always the best and healthiest choice for his breed. All 6 of ours and one Boxer were all CnD to standard; not one ever suffered any emotional scarring from it.

What a beautiful dog. My doberman will turn 13 in another 3 weeks. He still runs and plays every day and is in excellent shape. I LOVE this breed. The best dog I've ever owned and most loyal friend I've ever had. It's obvious how much you love Zorro.

Blood splattered all over our family homes walls; and you could see the gaping wound. At first the vet just stitched him; when he happily wagged his tail against the coffee table; his stitches EXPLODED open again. This time the vet had to dock his tail at 3years old. He was in pain for months; all bc he wasnt docked after birth.

At 3 years of age we had to have the vet crop his ears a military crop (shorter cut) instead of show crop. it took us 11 months of strict weekly postings to get his ears to stand. Really depends on where you go but if you wait to long the only crop your dogs will be able to have is the short crop. Our vet charged us 260. Another vet I know does it for a 100. So anywhere from 150-500. If they ask more than 500 than I'd go else where!

Nice Doberman I had one as a child with a docked tail. Ear cropping and tail docking is now illegal in Australia. The RSPCA will prosecute you for doing that here. We have gone a bit soft in this country.
it's still legal to crop ears and tail in most states except, you guessed it, Cali. I don't care what anyone says, my boy deserves to look as handsome and noble as his big heart.

Really depends on where you go but if you wait to long the only crop your dogs will be able to have is the short crop. Our vet charged us 260. Another vet I know does it for a 100. So anywhere from 150-500. If they ask more than 500 than I'd go else where!

@Lperiman Is he a superior size? He looks like my "Baron," who weighs in at 116 lbs. and just turned 7. I've had at least one, and up to 4 dobies since 1993. All stock of Kimbertal Kennels In PA. Muhammed Ali got his Rottie there.

Dude I got a puppy doberman and man he is badass, they already cut his tail and right now were are trying to crop their ears...if thats whats its called but for real man i want my dog to catch frisbies like yours. you really got a good dog on your hands

Nice Doberman I had one as a child with a docked tail. Ear cropping and tail docking is now illegal in Australia. The RSPCA will prosecute you for doing that here. We have gone a bit soft in this country.

Ear cropping has been forbidden for over 60years in Sweden..
The docked tail was forbidden in the 80´s...
I don´t mind much though.. Love my Dobie!
However, sometimes I wouldn´t mind to get rid of that tail.. DAMN, it wips everything from glasses to kids and makes my legs black and blue ;-)

it's still legal to crop ears and tail in most states except, you guessed it, Cali. I don't care what anyone says, my boy deserves to look as handsome and noble as his big heart.

Yeah same here... not just my own dobie but also others I have known. Great at fetching stuff... but once they fetched it they consider it their own property. There is no way in hell that they will relengquish their prize :D

True, i have a manchester terrier, they are almost like mini dobermans, he is old now, and going a bit deaf, but, he never misses a trick! he`s like my own pocket sized body guard lol, I`m thinking about getting a doberman soon they are awesome!

Thats a really nice dog, i got a chihuahua, but i think all dogs are SPECIAL, the dog will never BETRAYED you, he knows when you are SAD, you can KICK them, treat them BAD, PUNISH them, AND STILL HE WILL COME BACK TO YOU. he will never live you.
