Good example of how propaganda can explain away something as plain as the true aggressor in a war. It is very difficult to tell truth from fiction in the moment. Without outside help, they wouldn't even have a nation to call their own. They were not powerful enough to even exist without a treaty simply handing them a country without even fighting and winning their own independence.

The Polish people are a nation that is ethnically different from German or Russian. Whether there was a state or not a state, there was a Polish nation for centuries, with the people maintaining their cultural traditions through all the turmoil. Powerful? No. Strong? Yes.

Without that , the western front would have looked a lot different. I believe Germany would have forced victory through but you would have had a lot tougher fight from French units, more and prolonged fight with British land forces as well. After a more drawn out phase, and bloody encirclement battle taking France piece by piece you might have seen

Great, Great, Grandfather signed up in the 12th Pennsylvania Cavalry in 1861 and was given an honorable discharge in 1863. He was wounded once, I still have a picture of him and my family still has the land they were given along with citizenship papers.

Mothers family came to the U.S. after the war by way of Poland.
