  • my god this guy cant say christian right? arnt there like a whole lot more christians over there?

    '

  • "He doesn't want to be Batman Forever."

Oh my God. No one wants that again.

  • @joshuare5768 LOL!!

  • they showed batman falling on the car way to many times.

  • Christian is high on 3.30 :D

  • I'm surprised that they used so much footage from the actual movie in this.

  • The villain character in this movie..is better and bigger.. than the movie it self ..i am so impressed..

  • GOD what is with the shitty disco music during the interviews?

  • @TheNylonStrings I swear it sounds like this fuckin eurotrash music that you hear in a persian taxi, not meaning to be racist.

  • Why does Christian Bale not speak in his native tounge?

  • @Miles3363 He's a method actor, i.e. he stays in character at all times when filming or preparing for a movie. He's the best actor alive today IMO.

  • @violator791 he's an excellent actor but he's not the best. Mr Daniel Day-Lewis on the other hand probably is

  • @violator791 Staying in character is not an aspect of method acting, it's just something that actors sometimes incorporate into their acting.

  • @Miles3363 how does Bale not speak in his native tongue?

He is Welsh and for the most part sounds British throughout this.

  • @Bucka90 Actually he is English,as he has said maby times

  • @malt8291 Check out his Wikipedia page. It probably says the same on IMDB too.

  • @Bucka90 yes he was born in wales and lived there 4 a while but his parents r english who moved back to england. Most of his upbringing was in bournemouth england..His accent has no trace of welsh its 100 percent english..And he said on a gmtv unterview he conciders himself english. But he certainly is british anywho..He does add alot to the confusion with his fake accents while in character and promoting the movies. But all his bios do describe him as welsh..

  • Should be called 'making of one of the best action films ever made'

  • Love Joker

  • Fuucckkkk that, I watched for the joker.

  • 6:59 I love how he says he doesn't want to be Batman Forever :P that works on so many levels haha

  • If this isnt enough behind the scenes stuff for you , come to my page I'll be uploading more parts

  • "he doesnt want to be BATMAN FOREVER" ha good line. who would.

  • "THE DARK NIGHT" in the corner, "HEATH LEDGER WHO DIED EARLIER THIS YEAR", fuck the speaker

  • "THE DARK NIGHT" in the corner, "HEATH LEDGER WHO DIED EARLIER THIS YEAR", fuck the speaker

  • whats the song at 0:34?

  • Heath Ledger was the best playing as joker...

  • I love how they limited the amount of CGI used, because there was barely any (the hospital explosion was real) EPIC

  • was this b4 or after heath legder died

  • Anybody else get a little chuckle at the irony of the line "he doesn't want to be batman forever"? Might just be me but it made me laugh.

  • It says The Dark Night in the top left animation

  • What's that on Bale's nose?

  • Lol I clicked on this and I was like this has got to be a Rick Roll with that thumbnail. Thank you maibale for making me trust agin.

  • "If i can get him for you, can you get him to talk?"

    "I'll get him to sing."

    best line evar!!

  • tired of the sequels?

    two face:NO!!!

  • "..to do something better." And I used to be convinced every sequel was to show the worse. The Dark Knight proved it wrong.

  • Eat your heart out Micheal Bay.......Nolan owns Marc webb....... Why? Because Nolan knows what it takes to make a great adaption of a great hero.....

  • MTV is so terrible.

  • Chris Nolan looks like Harry Enfield.

  • "None of that (stunts and explosions) means anything if it doesn't have a great story." Well said Christian Bale. Michael Bay could learn a thing or two from you..

  • @01AlPal01

he's actually talking about the boring begins lol

  • @01AlPal01 You;re so right I couldn't have put it any better!

  • @01AlPal01 its because there was fricken robots with frickin lazer beams attached to them.

  • @01AlPal01 or George Lucas (when making the prequels)

  • @01AlPal01 hey his movie may not have a good story, but it still stands as huge money makers

  • The joker was the movie fuck batman Harvey and everyone else Man I wanted the joker to win Heath Leger died as the Joker

  • 2:01 it actually starts..

  • Cool video... But the music is so fucking annoying.

  • They spelled 'The Dark Knight' wrong at the top of the screen.

  • a instant classic a masterpiece the greatest comicbook flim of alltime..... well until the next one lol

  • i hate how poeple bash on the storyline it was supposed to be continued. heath ledger wasnt supposed to die.

  • @90xboxfan Actualy they were done the movie when Heath Ledger died, theirs interviews with him even saying so

  • @antonny11 well if thats the case my expectations just have rised. get it dark knight rises. yeah the way it ended seemd like he was continue for a little while in 3. i so love the realism in these movies. i hope this can be better than tdk and bb. i just want this to be a great trilogy

  • @90xboxfan oh lol I see what you were getting at there very clever. I thought you meant they werent finished filming tdk when Heath died. I completely agree with you on that, most defiantly Joker would have been in the third. The fact that Joker said we will be doing this for a very long time guaranteed it really, until that tragedy happend. Im still hoping tho that maybe their is some unseen footage of the joker that will be put it TDKR

  • @antonny11 definitely, not defiantly, goddamnit

  • @facecheek lol get a fucking life. Spending your days correcting youtube comments its pathetic. This is isn't English class bitch and you aren't getting payed to teach.

  • Is it just me or do these kinds of "making of" documentaries suck? I was really disappointed with the special features on the dvd compared to BB. In BB they actually had tons of behind the scenes footage whereas this and every other documentary for this movie is almost all just interviews with mainly scenes from the movie with very little behind the scenes footage.

  • Every cinematic studio has always been brilliantly careful when selecting an actor for The Joker.

Heath Ledger- Nihilistic, Plausible, and Terrorist Joker. (He gave one of the most memorable performances of the character)

Jack Nicholson- Psychotic Mobster Joker. (His version of the character retained some of the more comical elements)

Mark Hamill- The animated voiced Joker. (Just great)

Cesar Romero- The convincing prankster Joker. (Even if the sixties TV program was campy, he wasn't)

  • Val Kilmer had the better Batman voice. easy.

  • "it has all the spectacle and that, has all the stunts and explosions and everything but none of that means anything if you don't have a great story."

I hope Michael Bay is taking notes right now.

  • Man the way the joker robbed the bank is genius. The day someone does that in real if is the day they should be allowed to keep the money and get away.

  • Christian Bale is top damn notch actor but i gotta admit he fucked up big time as batman, especially on the dark knight..i hope he gets a grip and give something good on "rises". btw millers series are realy REALLY shitty design-wise, but story wise is kick ass.

  • @sweeney665 The only thing that really gets under my skin about Bale in TDK is his raspy voice as Batman. To me it's the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. Nonetheless, I'd rather deal with it than watch Batman & Robin. I still think Christian Bale is awesome because he's a throwback actor, more substance than style.

  • @sweeney665 Design-wise? What, did the pages not turn properly?

  • @Sedalb What, you're supposed to be the smart ass? you got my point, why bother?

  • @sweeney665 I'm actually still somewhat confused by what you meant...

  • @Sedalb you'd better not be trolling...the design man, the sketches and the artwork that Miller drawed for The Dark Knight. ok now?

  • i just dont get it?!?! do we have any american actors in the movie or all of them are british?! :S

  • @ramiabdo2 Morgan Freeman, Maggie Gyllenhal, William Fichtner (the bank manager), Eric Roberts (Boss Maroni), Anthony Michael Hall (Engel), Michael Jai White (Gambol), and Nestor Carbonell (the Mayor) are the big name American stars in the movie as was (and i almost forgot him) Aaron Eckhart.

  • I'm batman. Arrggghhh !

  • christopher nolan sucks like why dosnt he ever make batman use his old gadgets like the baterang

  • Shocking how many people don't know what the word 'anarchy' means...

ironic that this misrepresentation of the word occurs several times in a Batman related video considering that there is a Batman character called Anarky who actually operates according to the true definition of the word.

  • so overrated

  • @alluvialedaempfer

fuck off , this is 1 of the best movies ever made

  • @alluvialedaempfer maybe the movie, but heath ledger's jocker? i dont think so..

  • @89gerardo especially heath ledgers joker. playing a masked man or a villain is always a very welcome role for an actor, the best thing you can get to shine. but i dont think he acted bad ! thats not what i'm saying. batman the dark knight is good for what it is - but it sucks in all areas as a BATMAN movie.

  • @alluvialedaempfer wtf how so as a batman movie it sucks?? i would like 2 know y u think that

  • @maccajoe well, as i said for what it is its good, bringing batman on a new stage which hasn't been presented like that. less superhero like..more "realistic" and better explainable in some ways maybe. but as a batman movie ?! to quote "frank miller".. "i think there is been an attempt to bring superficial reality to superheros thats ultimately stupid" and futher "i dont really need to see sweatpachtes underneath supermans arms". nailed it with it, and thats my opinion too.

  • @alluvialedaempfer i know u said for what it is its a good movie but i think its good as a movie and a batman movie. Well on what frank miller said i think is so stupid especially coming from him the Writer of the batman the dark knight returns and batman: the dark knight strikes again, graphic novels that wer the bases of these batman movies and the darker edgier batman style so i find that kind of hypocritical on his part.

  • @maccajoe the dark knights comics still, have nothing to do with the movie(s). the name is the dark knight and the attitude of "dark" and "serious".. but thats pretty much it. the dark knight is taking itself so serious, thats makes the movie at least for me, in SOME ways really laughable. but overall, dont want this to sound like a bashing, so back to topic... just think its overrated.

  • @alluvialedaempfer thats where nolan got his direction for the films he got them from the Frank miller series, he got the tone and the seriousness from the books so Miller saying that stuff dsnt make sense when pioneer's story and serious realism in his novels. Back to topic people seem to like the realism direction, people these days seem to be very offput by campyness and anyway ive always seen batman as a dark character in books and animation, these films are jst if he wer here today

  • @alluvialedaempfer CONT and on that sweat patches comment, its the perfect angle to brand Superheros thats why i view Marvel super heros and these batman movies are so popular because of there flaw's and the human problems they have it makes people able to relate to them ie Spiderman Nerdy boy at school, the xmen discrimination plot and these batman films where he has so much inner turmoil. Its kinda hard for audiences to relate to an all powerfull space alien

  • TDK is a popular favourite.

But my favourite is Batman Begins, it's pacing, story, and focus on Batmans development is almost perfect, pacing, acting, suspense, action, emotion, spending just enough time with the parents, and deeply enough to make Batmans rage against crime believable.

  • @superhamzah85 Right there with you, though both TDK and BB are probably in my top 10 favorite films, BB remains my, mostly emotional, favorite. I really wonder if that spot will be taken by the third film, especially when I heard Wally Pfister say it ties back in with BB and why Batman started in the first place.

  • My cum tastes lik my dads...

  • I can't stand that narrator for some reason

  • 6:58 any one herd something

  • Nolan deserves an Oscar

  • @99theace Seriously...WAKE THE FUCK UP OSCAR BOARD!!!

  • @99theace More than one!

  • @99theace No, he deserves many oscars!!

  • @99theace He needs to be nominated first.

  • Nolan deserves an oscar

  • they recycle so much footage, it gets dizzying after a while.

  • the soundtrack here is great! does someone knows what it is??????

  • the soundtrack here is great! does someone knows what it is??????

  • The background music is horrible.

  • @Shiblee1986

    like in cheap porn

  • @Ciostek14789 hahaha. yeah.

  • "Joint Christian Bale... ... and Heath Ledg- ...Oh wait."

  • "He doesn't want to be "Batman Forever.""

Well I should hope not! That movie sucked!

  • the dark night?? xD WTF

  • this narrator is an idiot iron man and the incredible hulk where great fuck off mtv

  • @johncy11iron man was great but they showed a scene from teh 1st Hulk ...teh one with eric bana and yeah...it did SUCK. the incredible hulk however was awesome.

  • Why did they show the original iron man when talking about bad comic movies? Hulk ok, but iron man??????

  • Aaww... I wanna see the bloopers...

  • The one thing I can't stand about the "behind the scenes" features of this movie is that there is hardly any actual behind the scenes footage. It's all interviews with scenes from the theatrical release. I loved how with the Batman Begins dvd, they actually had Batmobile test footage, stunt/fight scene rehearsal footage, the making of the costumes etc. You'd think for TDK, they would have had even more of that stuff.

  • This is what I like so much about Nolan: he's intelligent, energic, self-critical and always going on to challenge himself in both intellectual and dinamic territory of movies.

  • The dark knight is so Great, it's gonna diffucult for Nolan to make a better movie

  • I think in the third film, Bruce will find his replacement and, as predicted in this film, he will finally quit the cape.

  • R.I.P Heath Ledger

  • lol at 6:58. "he does't want to be 'Batman Forever' "

  • One more thing that impresses me about Heath's joker is how he was able to create a Joker voice AND speak in an American accent. That's talent.

  • bruce has an english accent. who'da thunk it?

    XP

  • @kermicheo so does gordan, he's the guy from harry potter movies

  • i said too many times and i will say it again {THIS Movie WAS AWESOME} do you all get it

  • At 8:12 the white woman in the middle is my friend :)

  • 7:00 no one wants batman forever that movie sucked

  • Who the fuck was working the camera?!?!? My 3 year old sister coould hold it steadier.

P.S. MTV, fire the editor, we dont need a punch when someone says donut -_-

  • 2008 was great year for movies.

  • @LordMalice6d9 Except Indiana Jones 4

  • Fucking lights.

  • Yes Christian Bale, I don't think Val Kilmer wants to be in Batman Forever either.

  • i hate jock rock background music.

  • @cyrus138

YES. THANK YOU. It cheapens the entire thing.

  • @cyrus138 Agreed!

  • what i hate is that everyone freaks out cause bale uses his throut to speak. if batman didnt do tht people would know he was wayne

  • @Reeclan I can agree with that, but let´s also remember that the early Batman characterization didn´t have any use of it :P I guess it´s an argument (or debate for that matter) that can be double-edged.

  • MTV spelt Dark Knight .... Dark night

  • Christian Bale is an underrated actor...

  • Hopefully one day he'll get the recognition he deserves and win an Osc...

    ... oh. :o)

  • annoying background music...

  • Damn, I LOVE this movie!

  • why is "racel dors" playing from a nother actor as in Batman Begins?

Thats the only thing I dindn´t like in Dark Knight!

    But Still the best movie!!

  • HE'LL ROBBED THE BANK. STEAL THE MONEY BURN THE MONEY.

  • back in the days when VIVA was TMF.

  • I really love the cast... and I think Bale is the best batman too... he's awesome

  • nolan is boss, very good film-maker

  • Seems like Nolan wrote a script for an action movie that keeps people hanging on, and then decided to put a Joker suit on the terrorist, a Bat suit on the hero, and a burnt face on the justice character.

The one thing that Nolan did do that was characteristic of Batman that the others missed, and am so happy he did, was adapt an anomic and corrupt Gotham so far as the authorities were concerned- hence the need for vigilantism.

  • The Burton confrontation in a cathedral with a bloodied Batman vs. a business building I thought was darker and their dialogue more personal, which I think fits in line better with the quote on quote "darker" pitch to the movie.

Alfred and Rhas, and the D.A. version of Dent were done real well. I think that the script could have been written for any action movie though; hardly anything distinctive of Batman characters. Nolan's are the best movies, but could have been closer to the characters.

  • Personally, would've liked to have the characters more flushed out within Nolan's realisticness.

Joker- is the result of "escalation" vs. mutual creation with killing Bruce's parents/Bruce dropping Joker. Missed on making Joker a clown prince psycho. You can have both. Arkham Asylum's Joker struck a good balance.

Dent- Not a true split personality. Decides to go on a killing spree b/c his GF was killed. Kinda weak believability.

  • such a shame heather couldn't share his story of "the joker" with us. rip HL

  • @Libby56 its heath hes not a girl

and yeah im sad i would be cool to see him sitting w/ the rest of the crew

  • @AntiGDYB it was a typo :) thx for point it out

  • Christian bale has a mole on his right eye???

  • Harvey was such a nothing. I couldnt understand why he was supposed to be so great. What does he do in this movie?

  • What the fuck? They messed up the spelling of the movie on the watermark on the top-left corner of the screen!

    "The Dark NIGHT"?? Really?!

  • @Fellfrosch6 you stupid retard is a catchy name for the show that plays in the night. shut the fuck up

  • @Fellfrosch6 shut the fuck up retard. its a catchy name for the show that plays in the night.

  • @Fellfrosch6 it's joke: that night was all about the Dark Knight so it became the Dark Night!;)

  • @Fellfrosch6 good eyes.

  • @Fellfrosch6 LoL. ^^ How could they fuck that up.

  • @Fellfrosch6

    MTV... I expect nothing else

  • @Fellfrosch6 Oh dear, you're right. :-\

  • @Fellfrosch6 I think it was literally a Night of Batman in anticipation of the Dark Knight. i sound like a smartass... sorry!

  • @Fellfrosch6 their britts, its for copyright purposes

  • should do this with spiderman

  • Who cares how the explosives got there? It's a BANG-POW summer blockbuster about a man who dresses up in silly ears and a cape to decimate every window in the world. It doesn't matter. It's the same issue of the Batplane missing the Joker in the 1989 movie.

  • RIP HEATH LEDGER!!!!

  • "He's uncompromising. He deals in chaos, anarchy, and destruction, and that's it."

He does what he says he does. Gotta admire that sort of honest conviction in a guy.

  • the joker's in the dark knight is even darker than the dark knight himself..wow (:

    RiP heath ledger

  • The reason that the Joker is so believable as a Villain because he's human. He's so bad because he's hurting so much inside. He's a distorted monster.

  • I think the Joker made the film what it was.

  • @NoahLDiamond Heath was very good but he also had a very good script. this is an ensemble cast. I think if you hadn't had Aaron Eckhart, there would not have been the emotional element that made the story relatable. There are many reasons to explain why this movie was so good.

  • the is my fav movie, loves the story and joker

  • This movie would have been nothing without Heath Ledger. Heath is what made this movie better than all the other Batmans combined. And to think when I first heard he was cast as the Joker, I thought he was a bad choice!

  • Best Film of all time

  • This is a great documentary on the film. This making of documentary should have been included on the Special Edition DVD.

  • Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne FTW

  • BATMAN BEGINS AND THE DARK KNIGHT have a great story in film making not a hust a blockbuster flick. You have to invest in these characters.

  • Overall great movie. The villain tests the people instead of the hero. Loving it. But Maggie ruined it for me. As glad I was to hear K. Holmes was out, I didn't expect this. It's gonna sound Hollywoodish, but if I don't like the actress portraying what is supposed to be the object of affection (in a way) than that segment of the movie just fails for me. I couldn't care less if she lived or died. Shame, someone else would have been better.

My opinion, I respect yours but this one is mine.

  • @wookovar - I agree that maggie is the downside of this movie, but the only way to make it more powerful was to bring Holmes back. Not my favorite actress but because she established Rachel Dawes in the first movie she ended up being the only actress for the role. And seeing her die in the movie would have made the audience go - "Whoa!"

  • Fair enough. Plenty of blockbusters do have good stories...The Dark Knight would not have been what it is if it was not for Heath Ledgers performance....story wise...this film ended up being a cliched action film with the good guys vs bad guys theme being sucked dry. Batman's character barely evolved or grew which sucks as he's suppose to be the title character....Aaron Eckharts performance was very dull...especially when "two-face" was born inside the hospital.

  • I didn't want to get into this argument, but if this movie didn't have anything, it'd be a clichéd ending. This was the most depressing ending to an action film I've ever seen. Gotham's only true hope is dead, police are now after Batman, and Joker won. Batman's character did evolve (More so in the other Batman movies anyways.) and if you don't like a movie, then you can say that. But don't try to say the story sucked when everything was all tied together and had a powerful theme to it.
