I'm impressed with your 35 cat performance. I'm thinking of getting a Gemini cat. Its also 35ft. But I'm still researching if it can handle crossing the Atlantic. I know the Lagoon 38 have done it, but its out of my budget. Any sugestions.
Awesome video. If you know anyone sailing from the US to the eastern hemisphere, please let me know. Looking to join a crew to get overseas in an adventurous way and travel the world.
I read your complete story on Cruisers Log narratives about a year ago. It was so interesting that I still think of you two and your travels every once in a while. I live on my 36 Morgan in New Orleans, if your ever this way I`d love to meet you and buy yall a drink.
The thing that scares me about sailing is stormy weather. Especially alone. I mean what the hell would I do out there if I got rolled? Or what if a rogue wave rolls you and you were harnessed in on deck? So many stories about people missing during hurricanes. Why? It should float right? Can you live through a hurricane?
is it dangerous to sail across the atlantic? im thinking about doing it for money.. joining a crew to sail across the atlantic.. this video makes me nervous.. a ship so small in an ocean so big.. but i would love to do it to face my fears and be able to make money while travelling to europe. how safe is it? and what are the chances of something going wrong?
TilderyKoadil> Hey, sadly you probably won't make any money out of it unless you have lots of experience. Deckhands normally don't get paid anything. And in modern day it is quite safe with EPIRB's etc. (Although a good skipper should plan for every eventuality so that he doesn't have to use an EPIRB!!) There are many, many people sailing across oceans nowadays, it isn't as dangerous as you think (providing the boat and skipper are well prepared).
If the boat is a 37 ft. catamaran long or larger than it it's close to unsinkable unless it has too many holes on it or it collides with a big ships...

Sailing the Atlantic is on my ultimate to-do list. In fact, it's my number 1 thing on there.

Whats the fastest you could do on this Catamaran, what was your average speed for the whole trip?
