Sharapova is pure horror to hear play. Ridiculous the amount of decibels she produces. Should be prohibited. If she can't play without making that kind of debilitating noise, she shouldn't play at all.
Sharapova might not have the movement or finesse to dominate on clay, but she does have a determined, fighting spirit, which makes me believe she can win the French Open someday.
Sharapova really didnt have a hard match in this. Henin was not playing good at all. Double faults and missing a lot. Sharapova should have really stepped up and won this match. Oh well.
@davetennisx2 Did you see the match? She was outplayed by Wozniacki. She took advantage of her movement (or lack thereof) by moving her side to side, fed deep balls to her forehand which is her error prone stroke and to tempted her to go for more, thus Sharapova kept piling up the errors.
If she had no business losing to Wozniacki then she shouldn't have lost to journeywomen like Greta Arn, Kimiko "Granny" Krum and Andrea Petkovic.
@forcemajeur08 Yes, I saw the match. A 3-time grand slam champion who has defeated players like Serena, Henin, Clijsters, etc shouldn't lose to a defensive player like Wozniacki, or any of those players you mentioned. Unfortunately, she's become an unforced error/double fault machine. But an in-form Sharapova is better than Wozniacki. Nothing against the girl, just my two cents.
@davetennisx2 Yeah, it was pretty bad. She's never been the same since that loss to Wozniacki. Last summer, I really thought she was getting back on track, but now she's back to square 1 again. All I can say is that she needs to sort herself out. It's really painful to see a multiple grand slam champ suffering one embarrassing loss after another. It has been going on for far too long and it's about time she did something drastic about it.
@davetennisx2 I heavily disagree. Sharapova's great and all, and she did just beat Caroline, which is nice because it keeps that rivalry interesting, but Wozniacki has been no.1 for quite some time now, and proven she deserves it. You can say she's defensive, and she's a pusher etc. but the girl has got skill and she knows how to win. Just because she doesn't play the same type of tennis, doesn't make it any worse.
@davetennisx2 there's no doubt Sharapova is better then that ridiculous NO1.However, when it comes to Serena and Henin. Sharapovaa , a 3 time Grand Slam champion ,still can not compare to the two legend.
@idol1234100 Definitely. Serena is head and shoulders ahead of everyone in her generation. Henin and Venus for the #2 spot as best of their generation is a good debate though.
@davetennisx2 I think it is too early to judge on weather Sharapova is a legend yes or no. She is 24 years old, so weather she is or isn't, we will see in the next 5 years.. ;)
@forcemajeur08 It's not even so much who she lost to as much as HOW she lost. Remember that game in the first set when she double-faulted 3 times in a row from Advantage to be broken? The match looked like it was going to be very competetive and exciting but her serve let her down horribly.
I really hope Justine can work more on her serve. It's just a shame that she is not strong enough on her serve, otherwise, it would be much easier for Henin to win a match. It's not hard for her to break opponent's service game, but it's just not easy for her to hold own serve.
@Blackiehoho Because of her non-athlethic and fragile body build and small height. This forms a serious handicap for Justine so she needs to work twice as hard as normal to wina point. She doesnt have the strength of a Serena or the height of Sharapova/Venus but she has tennisskills that most women could only dream of and by far THE BIGGEST VARIETY in strokes in womensgame (even agreed by former players like Navratilove/McEnroe/...)
@tennisboy2612 Yeah, this match and even more the final during a US Open series tournament where she let Clijsters off the hook after having like 3 match points.
Sharapova must not get enough sex at home. She tries to make up for it on court...

One of the best matches of 2010 (if not the best)
Maria had tough ones in Grand Slam last year (Henin RG, Serena Wimbledon & Wozniacki USO)
bacha890526 1 year ago
@bacha890526 She was definitely unlucky in RG and Wimbledon. But she had no business losing to Wozniacki.

Justine looks so much like a man. She has broad shoulders, she walks with her arms out wide. And her stand with her legs apart is so non feminine.

Wow this was close. Glad Stosur was able to knock Justine out eventually.
