my boyfriend and i r going into the army . we r getting signed up together anyone know if we wil be based together or when we can start living togther off base after BCT?
No BCT is just the begining. you have AIT and then you go to your unit. like most soldiers right out of training you will probably deploy with in a year. It's not what people want to hear but its the truth and its a volunteer army so don't complain if its not what you expected. As far as living together unless you are married the chance of you being stationed on the same base is very small.

Things have changed a lot since 1982!!! I completed both basic and AIT at Ft. Jackson, S.C. ... a.k.a. HELL. When I arrived at AIT (63B) we were greeted by drill Sergeants! This, I did not expect, after being told "it all changes when you get to AIT", not in Jackson-land. The 63B folks also spend a serious amount of time in the field. I hate to say it ... but ... when I went through the Ft. Jackson experience it was HARD CORE, this looks sissified??? WTF??? Drive on Soldier!!!
im ready to leave im going to ft jackson for basic and ait as a E-3 maybe E-4 if i pass my pt test and my mos is 91B and im excited because i took automotive technology in high school!
@MrJuiceman17 good luck hope u like it. it wasn't for me but luckily i only remember the good stuff. commaraderie is the best part, good friendships. i was a combat engineer and drove and APC.......pretty fun but Texas is damn hot. i missed Bosnia by weeks and did nothing for the last few weeks as my company was deployed.
As long as you have plenty of stamina to survive all that running it should be a no brainer. It's the skinny guys who have a hard time doing push ups who are going to struggle the most. But really as long as you follow all the instructions to the letter you should pass. 10 Weeks BCT and then 9 Weeks or more of AIT.
i have a question i want to be a tanker but there are a few problems you must be 6 foot 1 and im about 5"10 but im afraid i will reach 6"1 lol... also i have very bad vision and it says you need 20.20 or something but it also said collectible so dose that mean with glasses?
going to join on june, though im skinny and a light weight, i been excersising and working out like crazy, hopefully my size wont affect me. Cant wait to make my brother proud about joining. He joined the USMC and he encouraged me to go in and Select a Branch. I chose ARMY and proud of it.
I'm currently training to be a Navy SEAL but I decided to watch some Army videos for a change of pace. I have great respect for the Army, but my God this looks like heaven compared to BUDs (Basic Underwater Demolitions) training haha. I salute all branches of our fine military, Hooyah!
thank you for the videos did basic in 95 tank hill dont ya know was cool seing how its changed or not changed. what suprises me is it appears that male and female train together now was not like that then once again thank you for the video
Brings back memories of my summer. I graduated Basic the end of Oct. 2010 from Jackson, went to AIT at Fort Lee, graduated AIT the end of December. Now I'm stationed at Fort Carson CO, with the 3rd BCT 4ID. Keep making movies! Hooah!
I keep hearing about soldiers losing massive amounts of weight during training. I'm already a thin guy at 6'6 and hovering between 182-187..should I be worried about losing so much weight or will I made to eat more to maintain, or even gain a few lbs. I really can't afford to lose so much weight. I ship to Ft. Jackson in two months.
oh my god!!! i loved these vids!!! great=)...and you have a great bubbly personality ha not in a girly way lol..but id chill with u for a day and do some pushups=) greaaaaaaaat work on these=) im looking forward to going into the army!!!
Wow Ft. Jackson definitely has changed for the better from when I was there back in the days when the supply school was there along with the cook school
@scuds03 whts up was it hard to pass the test to get in becuz i want to join but it been a long time since i took it maybe like 1998 i want to say and wht branch of the military are you in
@hvacman2010 I'm ARMY and thier test is the ASVAB. If you have a good grasp on the written English language, Algebra, Geometry, and a little Trig you should have no problems at all passing. If you take a little time to use some ASVAB study guides and brush up on your skills a little before the test you will do ok. I scored a 92 out of 100 on my ASVAB without too much study.
i just graduated from ft. jackson as a 91B yesterday and I have to say it was a lot of fun. All of the instuctors are great and even though you're rushed through each mod (class) now that the new system makes all tests hands-on instead of written it's easy if you pay attention. Charlie 187th hoooah, Cobras!!
@a7x3555 i served in the army from 2002 until 2006 and now im thinking about reenlisting in the army reserve... basic training is what u make it if u make it hard then thts jus wht its goin to be,,, jus remember the drill sergeants are there for u they are not against u...
i cant wait till i join. i was originally going to be a marine but couldn't get the MOS i wanted so im on a ranger contract now. I love the army but from what i can see and have been told by RI basic is pretty easy.
@Kazzarella16 No, you will roll directly into Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Its where you train for the job you picked when you sign up. Your travel will already be arranged by the Army and you will head to your AIT location via bus or plane or stay at your BCT site depending what MOS you picked.
Great Video! PT.1 reception I would think soldiers shipping to Jackson would need to watch it. PT.2 still good, but made basic seem like a cake walk, and yes i realize not much too tape on one day. PT.3 I was (am) a 56M so my barracks were close to the 63B. Anyone have questions about 56M that iGuardOregon can't answer, I'm a click away. But he's on top of the game...btw, WEEKEND PASSES IN AIT!! HOOAH!!
I heard that the new IV training was removed by directive of The Office of the Surgeon General (OTSG), Department of the Army.I was just wondering if it's true?
@scion03 just shoot for about a 50 or a 60 thats the base score to be considered for anything and a GT110 is what you need to be accepted into any Army MOS across the board now you dont need a 110 for most jobs just a 110 will make sure that you can get accepted into anything
