As for the Blacks are imprisoned more than whites... which might be true and I'm sure there is a reason for it. Unfortunately, there are more blacks in poverty than whites and this can often lead to crime. However, the video doesn't take into consideration the ratio between the two. It compares them as equal races with equal amounts in each one. The "49 billion" dollars spent every year is also not adjusting for inflation and the fall of the American dollar.

Prisons is a money making business, take a look at google finance there are even PRIVATE prison operators. And guess what, the more inmates the more money they receive. Also the drug war was created by impoverishing the latino farmer, and the only source of income the farmer turned to was drugs. The same is true of poor black neighborhoods. So really the US created the problem and punishes the poorest people who only are in the drug trade because of a lack of opportunities.

Lot of the problem is also that crime networks is being kept alive being that the crime population within prisons is so big. Some people just need rehabilitation, not long prison stays with bad treatment and unsafe enviornment. Many of the inmates just came from one unstable enviornment to another. Clearly a unhealthy development of the justice system in America.

I'd like to see illegal drugs be made legal. Trying to prevent the trafficking and use of them has cost far too much, and is providing substantial funding to a lot of questionable groups that grow and sell the drugs in other countries, namely those in Central America. The only issue I see with making illegal drugs legal is a possible instant demand for these drugs, causing a lot of irresponsible people to harm themselves.
