thanks everyone for all your nice comments. this video is now quite a few years old but it reminds me that I can still play this piece. most recently i played it at a private party for a birthday of a friend of mine and got a nice ovation at the end.
I love what you do at 3:06... I still can't figure out what all those notes are, but it sounds awesome! Oh yeah, 0:10 - 3:55 was pretty sweet, too. ;)
Haha I like your phace at 2:22, I always do that. I should stop doing it, it gives it away that you did smething wrong then I ask him did you hear that and they're like "What, no?".. "oh damn, nevermind."
I wanted to learn this piece, but when I glanced at the sheet music, I thought, 'nooooo way'! It looked way hard, so I didn't even bother buying it. You're awesome!
Great composition by David Foster. And wonderful to hear it played "naked" on a piano
Great sense of the ambience in the piece, however a bit of troubles with the actual timing (metronome beat). This music is a challenge in the sync it should be played with.
I've heard so many people playing this piece and getting rythems and chords wrong even WITH the sheet music. This is astonishing. This is definately the best version on Youtube. 6/5 stars, mate!!!
I think you're doing a great job mate. The difference here is you dont have an entire orchestra to play along with you so you've got to belt out those accents to get the effect of the drums and percussion etc. which is exactly wat you're doing. I appreciate what you've done and hope to hear some more of you. 5/5
Hi Alex... I give you credit for learning this song by ear, but you are a tad heavy in your dynamics, especially in the left hand. I think you are trying to express the dynamics of the song from a percussive standpoint. If you go back to the original recording (David Foster - The Symphonic Sessions), you will notice that the piano part is rather tight and light, so I suggest playing along with the CD and the drums cover the dynamics you are trying to express with the keyboard.
That is fantastic! Especially taking into account that you have never seen the score of it. Amazing you could hear the special chords on this one. Truly amazing!
Excellent - I never tire of this piece. Just a clarification, this was Foster's composition for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, in Calgary, Canada. The 1984 Olympic Winter Games were held in Sarajevo.
i still like David Foster Winter Games arranged by Asako Tanaka

You know, I love this piano-only version almost more than the original...the synth and beat of the original date it just a bit.

I have heard this piece before, and really liked it, but until i just watched it as it was a linked video had no idea what it was (im only 16).
Like you have done i have tried learning it without music, but got no further than the first 16 bars, so i guess what im trying to say is:
Brilliantly played, and despite the cliche of the phrase it truly was inspirational xD.
Give me a month or so and i might have it!
