It's important to make the distinction between addiction and something that interests a person enough that they will do it whenever they have down-time. I personally find time to take care of all of my commitments and my life is in order, but I spend nearly all of my free time on the Internet. This is not the same as addiction because if I was addicted there would be obvious signs of trouble. The internet has become a social playground and it allows me to keep in touch with friends and family
If a housewife plays video games because she has no friends and lives in the middle of no where it's not an addiction. this entire segment is silly and seems like cbs is sacrificing integrety to seem modern and hip,while still generalizing a revotutionary concept into an old stereotype. much like video blogging and instead of capitalizing off the format simply posting promo's for you're show. how pathetic.
They didn't say Guild Wars. I truly think World of Warcraft and some other games are addicting though, I mean, even the guy said he played World of Warcraft. Not addicted though. I managed to quit, also.
I agree this guy is a moron. All he is discussing is MMRPG games and not first person shooters or rtses or anything. What a loser, its just like the media to only tell 1 piece of the story. He didn't mention that at any given time there are over 8million people playing in an online environment which means there is more to the relationships than the game itself.
