  • I have numerous books on dogs and they emphasize the importance of using dog shampoos. Human shampoos can irritate their skin.

  • Much better she look amazing :)

  • Looks great :)

  • why is every one saying what hard work it is to keep your maltese in long coats even the books you comb your hair everyday feed your self everyday so before you go out of a morning brush and feed your pup done boooooy..

  • @kandychoc10 Because a lot of owners won't do that. Yes it would be nice if they treated their dogs as good as they treat themselves.....but most of them don't! I have seen too many long hair dogs come into my shop and they are a matted mess. It's like they are in a body cast. Why, because the owner does not brush them every day!

  • Thank you so much every1 who posted helpful comments and tips, my 11 birthday present was an abused Maltese named Frosty and she is 5. My B-day is in March. SHE WAS A MESS! We got her groomed, the day be4 Easter so she would look nice for my family. Thank you for helping me feel confident about my maltese! (Great Video!) Ur maltese is soo cute, is she a Pure-Bred like Mine?

IM posting videos of my friends sish-poo and my maltese soon!

  • i see that your dog has tear staining as well, besides the expensive stuff what do you recommend to remove it that is not heavy on the pockets?

  • @tamithomas the vet told me to just use destilled water in a cotton

  • brushing my baby once/twice a day... bath once/twice a week!!! washing paws after almost every time after going to park or outside.... Maltese Is A LOT OF WORK!!!! but she's worth it <3

  • @nelliKP DO NOT bath ur maltese one/twice a week!!!!! I thought that I had to wash mine like once every 2 weeks but i was wrong, the vet told me from 3 weeks to 1 month because it can irritate their skin!!!

  • @jonaslove951 Would you go three weeks without washing your hair? Why would you want your dog to go that long? Use a good shampoo, conditioner and you should be fine. Oh yes, be sure to brush it out after you give it a bath too.

  • @jonaslove951

I bath my dogs everyweek, I am a groomer and if you use thr right products it wont irritate them. Does washing everyday irritate you?

If you get an oatmeal shampoo and conditioner, their skin and hair will be moisturised and will not dry out or be irritated. Conditioning is really important here. If you washed your hair everyday and didnt condition it, it would be come brittle, and yes it would begin to cause skin issues.

  • I have 6 Maltese, all with long hair. If you're going to get a Maltese, be prepared to brush them daily. They're meant to have long beautiful coats but they do take some work.

  • latinheat802, if you don't have the time to brush your dog EVERY DAY do not get a Maltese! I'm a dog groomer and I have seen TOO many of these little guys come into the shop with mats to the skin! The owners want them left long and flowing but don't want to put the time into brushing them. I shave them down because I will NOT put the poor thing through a demat. I'd much rather put the owner through it!

  • agree 100 %

  • @tessgirl100 agreed!! im a groomer also, and I am the SAME way!!

  • Use 'Diamond Eye' to get rid of tear stains. Works in about 5 days when applied 3 times a day (to severe stains).

    Water doesn't make any difference.

  • My Maltese only drinks purified water, therefore, no stains...Ruth

  • @TheRuaga

EYE ALLERGIES ARE COMMON..HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WATER!! ROFLMAO

  • My Maltese only drinks purified water, therefore, no stains...

  • Hi I want to get A Maltese but I want to let the hair grow so it will look pretty because with short hair they look wrong . But I don't want to spend alot of money because it not going to be a show dog can I just use pantene pro v for her hair .

  • @latinheat802 be ready to brush, brush, brush to maintain a full coat. Any shampoo would work fine. I even use Dawn dish soap on greasy/oily coats sometimes.

  • @latinheat802 please dun use human shampoo on dogs.

  • Such an adorable dog!!!

  • Hi...my maltese used to have tear stains. We fixed by changing the water supply - let him drink filtered and boiled water. The stains (new grown hair) went a way. To up keep, I also use cotton stick soaked with water to clean his eye surrounding about every 2 - 3 days.

  • She's a Snowball with an Angel Face! Impeccably Groomed :)

  • omg ur dog is so well behaved my Maltese hates being brushed and cant stay still when i brush her..
