Overall not a bad movie. Absolutely great idea! I felt however that it would have been better with a little less of the unrealistic BANG BANG moments. Sort of gave an impression of V for Vendetta. though not as good in my books.

I agree with finbomartini. this movie was definitely not as good as the Matrix (the first one, mind you. reloaded and revolutions are crap!). But anyways, I thought this movie lacked something. It was too depressing. I don't mind movies on difficult subjects, but this movie I found was too harsh. Also, it wasn't very original as many of the scenes are obviously stolen from the Matrix.
It is very similar in feel to Gattaca, but I definitely prefer Gattaca because it was more inspirational.
For a stupid movie, this is not bad at all. Great fighting scenes with a good metaphor. It also had a lot of flawes with an ok concept and is surely not better than Matrix. I give this movie 2 1/2 stars.

@v27rv126mus now that you watched the whole movie you still make comments like the soap opera :D. now you should have waited for the end to develop the whole plot (coudn't help noticing comments on other part of the movie), that culminating with total suppression of emotion has given him full control of his skills

I think, hands-down, this was Christian Bale's best movie ever, both for the action and for his acting.

I agree with finbomartini. this movie was definitely not as good as the Matrix (the first one, mind you. reloaded and revolutions are crap!). But anyways, I thought this movie lacked something. It was too depressing. I don't mind movies on difficult subjects, but this movie I found was too harsh. Also, it wasn't very original as many of the scenes are obviously stolen from the Matrix.
It is very similar in feel to Gattaca, but I definitely prefer Gattaca because it was more inspirational.

For a stupid movie, this is not bad at all. Great fighting scenes with a good metaphor. It also had a lot of flawes with an ok concept and is surely not better than Matrix. I give this movie 2 1/2 stars.

those critics probably didnt agree with the dog killing , or maby not having religeon in the film.
this film is better then the matrix and alot of people agree with that. so those critics can just bite the clerics ass.

@rosen00000 When I say critical reception I don't mean the reception of it on YouTube...also to point out, a thumbs up is anything above 2 and a half stars by the old rating system, just guessing but I reckon before the rating was changed to this it would have about 3 stars - not so good for a film.
The critics wouldn't care about the very, very tame dog killing if this was a good film. American Psycho, Clockwork Orange both got great reviews? So that debunks your point

It's not as original, it's not as well written, it's not as well made, production value is far less, it's not as well acted, and it's pretentious. The Matrix was never pretentious, it knew it was just kick ass sci-fi - this seems to think it's providing a social commentary. ALSO: Nothing in this film makes sense. If nobody had any emotion, there would be no drive to do ANYTHING. You would eat, you would sleep

@rosen00000 But you wouldn't even bother pissing in the toilet, you'd just wet yourself - because it's self disgust and the need for comfort that prevents us from doing that. You wouldn't be suspicious of anyone so you wouldn't expose your best friend as a 'feeler', you wouldn't be ambitious so you wouldn't work, you wouldn't love so you wouldn't have a wife. It's stupid. The human race is driven by emotion, if you took that away we'd die out after one generation.
