The nostalgic lyrics lend themselves to a story-telling quality envisioning an urban sidewalk cafe in the middle of a hot afternoon. There isn't any doubt in my mind about the songer's chops. They however do not match the tone of the song.
@turtletouch Ricki Lee Jones did a bangin' version of this song on her live album "Girl at Her Volcano." She sounded like she was right there in it. Worth checking out!
@yetanotheraccount2re Yeah- I have Rickie Lee version... argh- on cassette! But, Damn, the "Girl at.." collection is fairly marvelous. One of the reasons that RLJ's version sounds so intimate is that it was recorded at a concert in Paris in real time.
Nice version of the June Christy classic. Looks like the song fit in perfectly with the club atmosphere, as she spins the tale of the woman who remembers men's smiles, not their names. Nice to see the younger singers reaching back and coming up big. Well done, young lady!!
Um... hate to bag on you, but the little girl thing ain't working. Sing like things have some meaning.

No, she's not June Christy but this is a cute treatment of a great song. Like watching your daughter sing ...

Such a good song. And it's not all that well known for some reason.
