Check out WITH THESE EYES for answer to the question: What would it mean to the leaders of industry if mankind were suddenly presented with nature’s gift of a sustainable green energy source?
When epaper resembles real paper in every way, then we will see people leaving current paper behind. OLED technology is coming close, but it still needs to be smaller, and be powered entirely by photosynthesis.
Alphabet Juice has a great subtitle: "The Energies, Gists, and Spirits of Letters, Words, and Combinations Thereof; Their Roots, Bones, Innards, Piths, Pips, and Secret Parts, ... With Examples of Their Usage Foul and Savory"
The time when the paperless wil exist is when people will start to think differently the only reason why paper has any value at all is because we give it value the truth is cd, dvds blue rays, all the convential data storage diveces are beeing replced today by virtual storing divices such as dropbox which will work as long as the company exists.Epaper will eventually replace normal paper as it will be cheaper and books will become like music and movies more pirated and thus more accesible.
@Frankjc3rd Money can be made entierlly from Plastic it depends on your country and more so you can also use your card to pay in all major stores and in the future like 20 years from now all stores will have to be have card readers as it simply is cheper to have debit cards then money.
I think this turned out to be a little more interesting then where I anticipated it to go. If this show really takes off I hope they fully fund it.
The concept is a good one, the question posed is too a good one (what's the future of paper?), and the possibilities for the future are endless. I hope they create an episode on the future of space travel, the future of automobiles, housing, and food! I think all interesting topics.

Reading on a screen and having a book in your hand are two different experiences, I for one prefer the latter

I prefer paper books because their batteries don't die.

how old is this?
funrizwan 2 years ago
To me it looks 10 years old, but they talk about "The Office" which is a few years younger than that.

@funrizwan It's from 2009. But I think it looks kind of retro on purpose (just listen to the opening jingle).

Just one adjustment, money is actually made from a combination of paper and cloth. Cotton fibers to be exact.
