I'd be quite careful with this technology. Anyone who has studied physics and electromagnetism knows that this essentially forces a current to flow through an arbitrary path in your brain; i.e. it "forces" electricity to flow abnormally and unnaturally through unnatural paths in the brain. What they call "stimulation" is essentially random interference with the brain's natural workings. If the currents produced by the electromagnets are too high, they could literally fry normal brain circuitry.
To save money try looking into a clinical trial for TMS. Since this treatment is in its infancy you still have an opportunity to enroll. You don’t have to pay. The study I am enrolled I found through the website: clinicaltrials.gov Just type in TMS and lots of clinical trials for TMS will pop up. Of course you have to qualify - but if I had to pay out of pocket as my insurance does not cover this type of treatment it would cost me $12,000 !!! TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS !!!
@soccordog The brief magnetic pulses emitted during TMS depolarize the neurons in the prefrontal cortex. This depolarization causes the neuron to send an electrical signal down the axon in order to signal the release of neurotransmitters. This signaling continues throughout the neurocircuit which connects the PFC to the Limbic System (the brain's emotional center). With repeated stimulation, this activity becomes self-sustaining and promotes the growth of new connections through neuroplasticity.
@TMSNewEngland Add dessicated thyroid(Eco Thyroid or Armour Thyroid) to your regimen as discussed by professor of endocrinology Ridha Arem MD in his book "The Thyroid Solution".
TMS is a research and therapeutic tool which has been in use for more than 25 years. With the introduction of the NeuroStar, TMS is now available clinically in the US. While this may not work for all patients, as depression is a complex and often times chronic illness, and this is not a cure, most patients do respond to TMS Therapy.
@TMSNewEngland Depression is ALWAYS reversible,in my experience. Neurotransmitter homeostasis is restored by some combination of thyroid replacement, amino acid supplementation, and treatment of hypochlorhydria.
TES (transcraneal electric stimulation) is way cheaper. The pro medical TES can be bought from manufacturer in russia for roughly 1000 euro, and I am pretty sute that depression has no chance of surviving 20 sessions. Actually it will significantly decrease after even first one.
Placebo my ass. 20 years of research, available in 100's of clinics around Russia. You may be unaware of that, but during communism, when there was a total control over everything, you could not get placebo and distibute it around centrally controlled by Ministry of Healt clinics. It simply did not work that way. Now after the system was broken, you can sell anything at all to anyone, but back 20 years you could go to Siberia for 15 years for TRYING. So before making idiotic comments, read.
@magalie1157 Apparently the "treatment" you have selected will also fuck up your spelling and it will make you type in all capital letters, which is absurd.
This tool is not so bad for pharmacoresistant neurologic problems. The charge is not sent arbitrarily because with brain mapping techniques (like stereo-EEG or MRI) sites with problems can be localized.
This is an insane thing to do. There is no justification for sending an arbitrarily large current-inducing (/nerve stimulating) EMP through the brain. I don't even know what to say. this is absurd.
Now this treatment is available in India, If you want to know more about this treatment you can contact Coamso Institute of Metal Health and Behavioural Science (CIMBS), New Delhi at +9111-43666666, or +919990173348
My mother will be starting this treatment tomorrow. We're excited to see how it goes because she has been previously undergoing ECT. ECT I think (while effective) is more intensive for the patient's body. With ECT my mother has to have an EKG, go under anesthesia, and has to have someone take her home afterwards. I hope TMS will be just as effective without all the hassle.
As a person that had ECT previously and *survived* (somewhat, it was so horrible), TMS is a cake walk! So far I've had 9 sessions and already feel different, like I'm not carrying around the horrible, debilitating depression I've been in for so long that I cant remember a *good* day! For me, TMS is the miracle I was desperate for. I just hope this lasts! Good luck!
@dandelion685 Have a look at the book "The Thyroid Solution" by Ridha Arem MD. We get best results when thyroid levels are optimized. The blood test will usually not pick up hypothyroidism until late.
Is it true that TMS can help with unlocking or developing stronger intuitive and self-creative abillities in writing, music or art? I'd like to participate in a volunteer study.
@poeticpisces2007 I thought your comment was hilarious until I read your screen name. Now I just kinda feel bad for you. Good luck finding creative inspiration, fish.
I think this is a scam.
