@KURISUCHRIS99 bette was mean to her peers who were adults who could stand up for themselves... joan was awful to her own adoptive children. big difference.
I can't help but think some of the "rivalry" between Bette Davis & Joan Crawford was fictionalized by the press, at least as far as BD was concerned, because she (BD) spoke well of JC in interviews. While she did mention JC's campaign to keep her from winning an Oscar, I never got the sense of any real animosity between the two, again, at least not coming from Bette Davis. I think she at least respected Joan as a professional actress.
All of these seasoned, professional actors acting like a bunch of children. This could have been a very good movie, had they been directed to perform in the more natural style of the time, and left their egos at the door.As it is, it's just a cheesy, overplayed melodrama.
I'm sure SWEET CHARLOTTE is a much better picture with Olivia de Havilland as Miriam than it would have been with Joan Crawford. If you've any doubt, check out Crawford's awful perfromances from the same period ... STRAIT-JACKET, I SAW WHAT YOU DID or BERSERK. Absolutely dreadful, amateurish acting.
people are getting rude with me saying "Whate are these horrible things bette davis ever did to joan, joan distanced herself" UUMM did you not watch the fucking video?!,bette davis turned the cast and crew against joan, and was behind the scenes once again trying to make joan's part smaller, just like on baby jane, get your fucking facts straight before you get rude with me
No...Bette didn't like Vivien Leigh because she was married to Bette's massive heart throb crush, Laurence Olivier...Hollywoods greatest sadist and masochis together in hot sticky southern weather makes for a horrid affair...And yet we eat it up like granny's home-made pie...I can't live with out Hollywood scandal and back stories...It's like a drug to me...And who can resist a good cat fight tiff between two aging diva's...Especially when it's Bette and Joan?
I loved them both in 'Whatever Happened To Babyjane?', but I am a huge devoted Bette fan never watched any of Joan's movies except for Babyjane, I would like to see 'Mildred Pierce' my mum said its a really good movie.
Part 2: The War of the Hollywood Divas. Bette wins! As for the potbelly Director, what he had to endure; enough to drive him to drink. Glad Olivia replaced Miss Joan.
Bette was at least honest and would say stuff to your face and not behind your back like Joan did.

I feel like today you'll never find a horror/thriller movie with a star studded cast like this
Toastyrokr 1 year ago 3
@Toastyrokr today there is no one with such vivid personalities of the likes of Davis, or off the wall screen presence.
Then again the method of acting these days is far more subtle and refined. Or phone in.
ArchaicEnchanter 10 months ago
@Toastyrokr Agreed! As well as have a cast starring several women!
