@nyge23 You shouldn't...They are the "Grandmasters" Stanley Clarke to the left as we view, and Marcus Miller. This is the SMV tour...(Stanley Marcus Victor...you can google SMV band) have seen Stanley a number of times and saw the SMV tour a couple of years ago...it was awe inspiring! This project came about when Marcus and Victor presented Stanley with a lifetime achievement award. Stanley has done the music for many many films and television. See Return to Forever. Happy Listening!
How the hell can they manage to clap and say "yeah" while listening to a bass solo from Victor? I hardly can manage to breath... almost forgetting about it!
Wow. Just wow. This is one of the better Wooten solos I've ever seen, and I've seen A LOT of Wooten solos, a few live. I am so envious of the people who had the pleasure of experiencing this one. The way he fuses in a bunch of his tunes, his build up of energy, the release of energy, the reiteration of Norwegian Wood at the end. This is just perfectly amazing. Victor Lemonte Wooten is one of the most musical people to ever grace this planet and this solo does a good job showing it. Wow.

victor wooten is truly inspirational as a person and musician....he is entirely on his own unique level....his hands are always 5 steps ahead of what his brain is thinking....i also hate when people clap out of time it irritates the crap out of me...people that are not musically inclined have no idea of how bad they sound...they need to NOT clap and just listen to this beautiful instrumental !!!!
I think that Victor Wooten is to blame for a lack af skilled bassists. Everyone who picks up a bass and then sees him play gives up because they know they cannot achieve his level of greatness.
In Victor's own words: "Never try to be as good or better than anyone else, just try to be better than yourself and then you'll always improve yourself" (paraphrased)
@MacGuitarist Yeah, like back in the 80's, when Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco deLucia brought out 'Friday Night in San Fransisco'. The guitar sales dropped with almost 30%, haha
Hm.. I think it sound better on his tenor bass... Though seeing this makes it easier to learn, now I dont have to use my 6-string because otherwise everyone goes "Dude, youre supposed to have a tenor bass!" when I play on my regular 4-string. Now I can just say, "Well, Victor himself have played it with normal tuning, screw you!" =)
@MrChadbag I was mainly referring to the part at 2:30 when the audience tries to clap in time...that's why there was the "in time" part of my comment.
victor wooten was born with brains in his wrists and eyeballs in his knuckles(hence him almost never looking at his fretboard) and his hands work independently like an octopus. so him makin all them faces is just a hoax cuz its his hands doin all the work. yepp. mystery solved.
I think it depends on the concert. At a rock concert or an arena type thing clapping and cheers are cool. But with a solo artist or most jazz people need to tone it down or just maybe do it quickly and stop.
FINALLY a video of Victor playing the A Show of Hands from A Show of Hands. This is my favorite Victor Wooten composition. Thank you so much for posting this.
