Is this James Bond movie really that dark? Well, it has more violence that turned the entire franchise into a PG-13 rated flick as of today, but it feels like the usual James Bond movies I see. However, the movie feels more like a crime movie, and the villain's death in this movie is one of the most gruesome deaths in a James Bond movie.
I was disappointed in this movie. I thought it played as an episode of Miami Vice. It was basically a cop movie about drugs and tough guys, not a spy thriller.
I actually thought this would be the end of the franchise when I saw it.
Not my favorite Bond Song. Hard to understand half of what Gladys is singing in the song and not very original (the whole song seemed just a variation of the opening riff to "Goldfinger"). Gladys is easier to listen to than bellowin' Bassey though.
This is my favorite bond (right before Daniel Craig) and this is my favorite bond flick (right before Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) and yes i have seen ALL of the bond movies. Timothy Dalton was the best bond. and this song is in my top five bond themes
well....can't say I like this theme much...at least the first half is more or less what I'd expect to hear in a shopping mall...somewhere around christmas time. :P
does anyone see the symbolism here? Her taking a picture of a wedding- 'got to hold on to your love" - oh yeah I've posted on this page alot already haha- songs too addicting
Dalton didn't get fired, he chose to quit. He was offered the opportunity to stay on as Bond, it was his choice. He says he doesn't regret it, but that's gotta be pure bullcrap. He was the best Bond, he did it better than all the other guys. And this is still my favorite Bond film of them all.
no you idoit timmy also did a tv sho but they forced him to quit the roll pierce brosman quit because he didnt rene his contract and he decided to quit
@Windclaw I disagree wholeheartedly. I've always thought Lazenby was the best Bond of the lot. It's for the first time in the series Bond can be believable as a human and relatable to others without losing that cool, sophisticated edge. Lazenby captures the true essence and vigor of Fleming's Bond. Throughout OHMSS he shows exceedingly impressive physical presence unmatched by any Bond, with the exception of Craig. Dalton was great, capturing the cynical and brooding side of Fleming's Bond.
@MauricioCasteglione He's better than Brosnan... The worst Bond in the worst Bond movies. The living daylights and view to a kill are also terrible films. I like Craig and the new serious direction the franchise is taking. Connery and Thunderball, will always be my faves. This is just my opinion not the law.
@ad287 I suggest you watch the films before his era before you decide that he is the "best". He was an actor that worked best in the theatre, as Bond it just wasn't that great. Now Sean Connery....original and the best....
@ad287 i have to agree, this imo is the best james bond film, great opening theme and he was the only bond who was actually like Ian Fleming's Bond. The others are just silly
@ad287 I'm sorry but you can not say Dalton was the best Bond after only two films. That goes to either Connery, Moore or even Brosnan. I liked hi, but he was a bit to serious at times... I think i'll stick with Connery
@ad287 You must be 20 years old or younger. No way Dalton is the best Bond. You can't be a true Bond fan. Have you really seen all of the films? I have, since Dr. No. Dalton is good as 007, but no way the best. You have some review homework to do my friend.
In my humble opinion ... the best of 80's Bond. Too bad it was Dalton's last. I would have liked him in another one... between the long gap between this and GoldenEye
License to Kill is definitely my favorite Bond film. My second favorite being On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and my third , probably Casino Royale(the new one).
Connery was wonderfully entertaining, Moore was delightfully tongue in cheek, and Brosnan was..... well.... just there. Dalton, Connery, and Craig, on the other hand, added a noticeable emotional depth to the character that you just don't see with the other three.
Especially Lazenby though, the scene at the end were he's crying and cradling his dead wife in his arms just strikes a cord with me.
,,License To Kill"'s, in my opinion, the best Bond-Theme so far. Every note, every beat, everything about this theme is 100 percent Bond. There were lots of great themes (okay, Madonna's 2002 effort resulted in a piece of ***), but this one is the most awesome one, probably. :-)
FRWL and GF didn't need countless girls and guns. All they had were titles projected onto a girl's stomach and arse. Infinitely better than Maurice Binders.
its a traditonal Bond opening... the last Binder did. He passed away two years later. I'd have his titles any day over these new titles theyre doin now!

I'd say Dalton is 2nd best because he's the most sensible (Daniel Craig isnt sensible, he's just too serious -WHY SO SEROIUS!? lol)

Agreed. Goldeneye is overrated, but ok I guess. Brosnan isn't Bond, he's more of a soft-er type. I like the guy but he's just not James Bond. Connery and Dalton were...
This is one of my favorite Bond movies. It had a pretty good story. Robert Davi and Benicio Del Toro played very good villians. And Carrie Lowell was hot. Definitely a good opening song, but my favorite is still "A View to a Kill"
I think dalton's type of character was just too ahead of it's time. It's a shame his bond didn't really catch on. His two are some of the most solid bond movies in the series.
wtf brosnan fans will never learn... ok put it this way , if you matched timothy dalton next to daniel craig , dalton would still be cooler without doubt. craig cannot play a cool bond its not in his character , as for pierce brosnan he just flipped up at trying to be cool
hey roger moore has to be one of my favourite bonds too you know! but timothy dalton will always rule out to be the coolest , but to everyone not the best
Personally, all the Bonds have their own strengths and weaknesses. Chances are, your favorite Bond is who you happened to be watching when you got into the Bond films. My fave is Roger Moore, although my favorite Bond movie is Goldfinger, which is not a Moore film.
Benicio Del Toro as the bad young guy was excellent.

One of My Fav Bond movies next to Casino Royale and Goldeneye
Dalton and Daniel Craig are very similar as Bond, both are mean, serious, cold-blooded type, and "takes no shyt from anybody type Bond" ^^
and this song is awesome, and the Bond opening scene was classic
godsend92103 2 years ago 7
I do agree that Dalton and Craig have some similar traits as 007, but thats where it ends. Dalton's Bond is more of the serious, burnt-out agentl. Where as Craig is still trying to figure everything out, as Casino Royale brings bond back to his roots. It shows that he has emotion, and gets hurt, and you can see that.
AlexielMorgana 2 years ago 2
yea thats a very good observation ^^,
since Casino Royale was Flemings first Bond book, Craig's Bond is young, cocky, overconfident, and inexperienced. while Dalton is the opposite.
and I just realize something from both movies the relationship with Flex Lieter and Bond
in Casino Royale they just met, as for LTK, Bond attends Flex's wedding and ends up avenging him and his newly wed,
isnt that interesting?
godsend92103 2 years ago

This is one of my favorite Bond movies. It had a pretty good story. Robert Davi and Benicio Del Toro played very good villians. And Carrie Lowell was hot. Definitely a good opening song, but my favorite is still "A View to a Kill"

I do not remember Benicio del Toro being in "license to kill" Now you know I have got to get this film. Thanks. I remember Robert Davi, though,

Maurice Binder is, hands down, without question, one of the greatest artists of all time.

Without question, one of the best Bond main titles. Superb orchestration. Excellent visuals. Vocalist harkens back to Shirley Bassey.

"Got a license to kill, and I'm goin straight for your heart." Pretty much sums it up.

Personally, all the Bonds have their own strengths and weaknesses. Chances are, your favorite Bond is who you happened to be watching when you got into the Bond films. My fave is Roger Moore, although my favorite Bond movie is Goldfinger, which is not a Moore film.

My rating:
1. Roger Moore !!!
2. Pierce Brosnan
3. Daniel Craig
4. Sean Connery
5. Timothy Dalton
I never saw how's Lazenby's Bond so I'm not rating him
