  • Benicio Del Toro as the bad young guy was excellent.

  • Dalton was Ian Fleming's Bond. He was the best.

  • i got a license to post!!! his song is awesome

  • daniel craig and the new bond movies suck no style what so ever

  • Is this James Bond movie really that dark? Well, it has more violence that turned the entire franchise into a PG-13 rated flick as of today, but it feels like the usual James Bond movies I see. However, the movie feels more like a crime movie, and the villain's death in this movie is one of the most gruesome deaths in a James Bond movie.

  • My favorite Bond movie. Great song!

  • BROSNAN WAS THE BEST!!!

  • I was disappointed in this movie. I thought it played as an episode of Miami Vice. It was basically a cop movie about drugs and tough guys, not a spy thriller.

I actually thought this would be the end of the franchise when I saw it.

  • @leeroynaggins didn't like the movie huh? well I recommend "Her Majesty's secret service"

  • @joeynovak2

Agree! I liked that one. Pretty good skiing and action.

  • Dalton layed the role to perfection. He actually met Ian Fleming's perception of "James Bond".

Sadly a stupid studio-hodge-podge, prevented Dalton from making another Bond classic.!!!!

License to Kill is a top 5 James Bond pick.

  • Both Dalton and his 2 Bond movies are greatly underrated.

  • I think, this is the clean version, I mean, without the credits

  • this theme was based off the horn line from the goldfinger theme and they had to pay royalties

  • epic; best them tune

  • my best JB openning!!! i love T.Dalton!

  • my favorite bond song, but not my favorite bond movie, but my favorite bond actor, i guess two out of three ain't bad

  • Not my favorite Bond Song. Hard to understand half of what Gladys is singing in the song and not very original (the whole song seemed just a variation of the opening riff to "Goldfinger"). Gladys is easier to listen to than bellowin' Bassey though.

  • goldeneye for the win!

  • My favourite 007 film, even though it was made before I was born!!

  • Licence To Kill > Quantum Of Solace

  • 2nd behind connery

  • I wish I had a gun....a nice 'lightweight' silver one... I wouldn't shoot anyone of course, just pretend to :D

  • This is my favorite bond (right before Daniel Craig) and this is my favorite bond flick (right before Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) and yes i have seen ALL of the bond movies. Timothy Dalton was the best bond. and this song is in my top five bond themes

  • This film is great. One of the best, in my opinion. But I hate the trucks scenes.....

  • so he really did take that scene from the camera, not from guns barrel:)

  • the opening sounds exactly like the goldfinger opening.

  • just for the record...the title is LICENCE To Kill not "license"...otherwise great song and movie

  • well....can't say I like this theme much...at least the first half is more or less what I'd expect to hear in a shopping mall...somewhere around christmas time. :P

  • Maurice Binder = Main Title Genius.

No one can hold a candle to him. Binder Rules! (:

  • timothy dalton was the best bond after sean connery in my opinion. and this movie is one of my favourites^^

  • Best bond theme.

  • the film quantum of solace should've been.

  • @thishadbetterbemine

    QOS was an abomination

  • Comment removed

  • My favorite :D What a nice opening of the 90's :)

  • never piss off 007.

  • does anyone see the symbolism here? Her taking a picture of a wedding- 'got to hold on to your love" - oh yeah I've posted on this page alot already haha- songs too addicting

  • Dalton didn't get fired, he chose to quit. He was offered the opportunity to stay on as Bond, it was his choice. He says he doesn't regret it, but that's gotta be pure bullcrap. He was the best Bond, he did it better than all the other guys. And this is still my favorite Bond film of them all.

  • i agree with you, dalton is what i imagine when someone mentions name "james bond", he has it all what it takes to be 007

  • not true he used to be in a tv sho and than they forced him to quit

  • Thats Pierce Brosnan!

  • no you idoit timmy also did a tv sho but they forced him to quit the roll pierce brosman quit because he didnt rene his contract and he decided to quit

  • @ad287

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR STUPID ROTTED SKULL!?!

He was the WORST Bond ever! He made Bond look like he had an anger management problem. George Lazenby was a better bond that Dalton.

The best Bond, THE BEST...was and always will be Sean Connery

  • @Windclaw I disagree wholeheartedly. I've always thought Lazenby was the best Bond of the lot. It's for the first time in the series Bond can be believable as a human and relatable to others without losing that cool, sophisticated edge. Lazenby captures the true essence and vigor of Fleming's Bond. Throughout OHMSS he shows exceedingly impressive physical presence unmatched by any Bond, with the exception of Craig. Dalton was great, capturing the cynical and brooding side of Fleming's Bond.

  • @Windclaw sorry to point out but the real bond was actually a real angry bastard who was ruthles, well atleast in the original books anyway

  • @Windclaw Have you seen Daniel Fucking Craig ? That guy sucks....

  • @MauricioCasteglione He's better than Brosnan... The worst Bond in the worst Bond movies. The living daylights and view to a kill are also terrible films. I like Craig and the new serious direction the franchise is taking. Connery and Thunderball, will always be my faves. This is just my opinion not the law.

  • @ad287 I suggest you watch the films before his era before you decide that he is the "best". He was an actor that worked best in the theatre, as Bond it just wasn't that great. Now Sean Connery....original and the best....

  • @ad287 i have to agree, this imo is the best james bond film, great opening theme and he was the only bond who was actually like Ian Fleming's Bond. The others are just silly

  • @ad287 I'm sorry but you can not say Dalton was the best Bond after only two films. That goes to either Connery, Moore or even Brosnan. I liked hi, but he was a bit to serious at times... I think i'll stick with Connery

  • He most likely regretted it when Goldeneye began production. That was the best possible script for a Bond movie.

I'll bet he felt grateful he quit after Tomorrow Never Dies came out. Every Brosnan film since then was trash.

  • @ad287 You must be 20 years old or younger. No way Dalton is the best Bond. You can't be a true Bond fan. Have you really seen all of the films? I have, since Dr. No. Dalton is good as 007, but no way the best. You have some review homework to do my friend.

  • @ad287 i agree Dude it was like OHMSS but a lot better. and this is still the most overlooked Bond of the lot

  • Where did you get this textless version?

  • It comes with the ultimate DVD collection, and belive me it will cost you :)

  • I really need to start my collection, of this franchise.

  • Damn!... now thats just Dope!

  • In my humble opinion ... the best of 80's Bond. Too bad it was Dalton's last. I would have liked him in another one... between the long gap between this and GoldenEye

  • @CaptainDinner

Totally agree. Dalton played it seriously. The movie was a lot darker in tone due to subject matter...and that truck chase has never been bettered.

  • I'm with you, Captain, they should have given him another shot. Dalton would have been incredible in Goldeneye. That film was perfect for him.

  • I ADORED this film. It's the thinking man's Bond film.

  • greatest song in the bond series!:P

  • 007 is very nice movie somethink like dies?????

  • ??????????

  • This is very retro, pre-cgi cartoony visuals and late 80s early 90s style music. Things changed a lot in the mid 90s.

  • License to Kill is definitely my favorite Bond film. My second favorite being On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and my third , probably Casino Royale(the new one).

Pierce Brosnan sucks. (Sorry Brosnan fans)

  • The Asian chick in this opening doing the dance routine and seen in the photographs is pretty hot. Anyone know who she is?

  • really? you chose the worst two bonds over pierce Bronson? daniel craig is ok but again thats your opinion

  • Connery was wonderfully entertaining, Moore was delightfully tongue in cheek, and Brosnan was..... well.... just there. Dalton, Connery, and Craig, on the other hand, added a noticeable emotional depth to the character that you just don't see with the other three.

Especially Lazenby though, the scene at the end were he's crying and cradling his dead wife in his arms just strikes a cord with me.

  • rigth MrKnop

  • ,,License To Kill"'s, in my opinion, the best Bond-Theme so far. Every note, every beat, everything about this theme is 100 percent Bond. There were lots of great themes (okay, Madonna's 2002 effort resulted in a piece of ***), but this one is the most awesome one, probably. :-)

    1. Gladys Knight - License To Kill

    2. Shirley Bassey - Goldfinger

    3. Paul McCartney & Wings - Live And Let Die

    4. Chris Cornell - You Know My Name

    5. Tina Turner - GoldenEye

  • Girls Guns explosions,,,,,,what the hell else do you want????

  • For Bond opening titles? A lot more than this.

  • FRWL and GF didn't need countless girls and guns. All they had were titles projected onto a girl's stomach and arse. Infinitely better than Maurice Binders.

  • its a traditonal Bond opening... the last Binder did. He passed away two years later. I'd have his titles any day over these new titles theyre doin now!

  • @venuecam In this case it is !!! Bond always has a licence to kill but in this movie it is taken away from him, see the irony ;-)

  • For me this is the best song to James Bond Intro.

  • the only james bond movies that I do like are the 2 with tim dalton

  • This intro beat is heart pounding, dark, powerful, and rich just like the movie, easily one of the best james bonds- even the bad guy has some very interesting personality attributes that hold through the whole movie- Dalton was a great bond

  • Sad he declined Goldeneye

  • What a load of crap! She wasn't even offered it!

The song Goldeneye was especially written for Turner, right from the start.

  • I meant Dalton

  • actually, Dalton was all set to return for GoldenEye

but it had been such a long time (four years? six years??) that the producers figured no-one would recognize him

    what a load of crap...

  • bond is a brutal killer same as the bad guys , the only difference is .....hes on the good side !

  • yeah it the best pretty good film too

  • Best Bond theme IMO. None of the most recent Bond themes have sounded that great.

  • idk, casino royals theme ties in greatness with this one. Qos....nahhhh

  • im totally with you (but i would switch pierce with roger)

  • Licence To Kill and For Your Eyes Only are my favorite of the 22 Bond movies. Timothy Dalton is my favorite Bond actor.

  • Dalton was actually pretty good, my favourite bond along with Roger Moore, Moore made Bond's funny, Dalton made Bond raw and really agentish :) I also really enjoyed his films, great stories

  • Great improvement after The Living Daylights. Its a pity Dalton was not given the chance to make at least one more film.

  • OHHH he was given a chance to make another film! But he turned it down!

He could have been in golden eye

  • damn, this song makes me want to put on makeup and do a sensuous dance! and im a man!

  • Thanks for making me laugh ;-)))))

  • no problem, its good for moods

  • ;-))

  • Maurice Binder was a genius but Timothy Dalton? *shudder*

  • no, at least he made bond a bastard again. roger moore was too cartoonish. plus, dalton looked like ian fleming described bond in the novels.

  • I wish Timothy Dalton had done more Bond films :(

I loved Licence to Kill and The Living Daylights ....

  • best bond

  • Hands down, the BEST Bond theme song ever.

  • Epic theme tune, just epic. Love this bond movie.

  • the best Bond theme...

  • Comment removed

  • i might switch lazenby and moore. i do like craig, as his bond is a lot more like sean connery. no toys, and his bond gets his ass kicked now and again, just like connery. but i have a soft spot for dalton, as he was more like the bond in fleming's novels.

  • Me, too...Dalton is my favorite actor to helm the license to kill, with Craig being the 2nd and Connery being third

  • Not Crazy About Timothy Dalton; but I love this opening theme song!

  • who'd have known that timothy dalton was going to quit after this one?a shame, really, because the end song by patti labelle was superb.

  • Absolutely the best Bond Theme.

  • this song OUR SONG my first love the one i should have never let go.....

  • Dalton was the best or maybe second best after Connery!

  • Dalton was and still is the best Bond of all. James Bond was suppose to be a badass, tough as shit, smart, good fighter, funny, a ladies man, smooth, and very cool. Only Dalton brought all of this to the 007 character. All the rest of the guys fall short when compared to TD.

  • I'd say Dalton is 2nd best because he's the most sensible (Daniel Craig isnt sensible, he's just too serious -WHY SO SEROIUS!? lol)

I think Pierce Brosnan suits the James Bond Character the best. Roger Moore is a cheeky twirp lol and Sean Connory is jsut kind of off, If you know what I mean.

PS: This is easily one of the best Bond themes

    (Living Daylights is the best)

  • Dalton was my favorite Bond. For me, Brosnan may be the Bond in my generation, but he's kinda..."modern"

so i stick with Dalton and Moore

and Daniel Craig is indeed too serious

  • Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Sean Connery IS James Bond, man. He's the one all others are compared to. You can argue on who's second, but Sean Connery will always be #1.

  • I disagree, we pretty much all think of michael jordan as the symbol of basketball, but the nba insignia has Jerry West as its symbol. Dalton carried all the characteristics we wanted in a bond and Michael did thr same for basketball, but he wasn't the first- but in the end he's who I atleast connect to as a the real bond or basketball player (this is a reply for something three months old haha)

  • one of the best dalton so sexy

  • Seeing the main title without text is phenomenal. Outstanding. Thanks for that!

  • One of My Fav Bond movies next to Casino Royale and Goldeneye

Dalton and Daniel Craig are very similar as Bond, both are mean, serious, cold-blooded type, and "takes no shyt from anybody type Bond" ^^

and this song is awesome, and the Bond opening scene was classic

  • I do agree that Dalton and Craig have some similar traits as 007, but thats where it ends. Dalton's Bond is more of the serious, burnt-out agentl. Where as Craig is still trying to figure everything out, as Casino Royale brings bond back to his roots. It shows that he has emotion, and gets hurt, and you can see that.

  • yea thats a very good observation ^^,

since Casino Royale was Flemings first Bond book, Craig's Bond is young, cocky, overconfident, and inexperienced. while Dalton is the opposite.

and I just realize something from both movies the relationship with Flex Lieter and Bond

in Casino Royale they just met, as for LTK, Bond attends Flex's wedding and ends up avenging him and his newly wed,

    isnt that interesting?

  • yeah agreed. this was my favourite opening, diving down and entering the wedding and the theme smoothly coming in, pure genius. couldn't get more bond if you tried. great theme too and dalton follows up his role in Living Daylights awesomely

  • All great Bonds end on this film after LTK Bond just went bad.Anyway Dalton is the best Bond and LTK is the best Bond movie.

  • I always thought Goldeneye would have been amazing as Dalton's final Bond film. Especially him fighting Sean Bean at the end would have been amazing.

  • This song makes me cry. This is the most moving song I ever heard!

  • lol well that is ur opinion

  • stfu

  • tihs movie rocked

  • good god this song is too damn beautiful for words!

  • I love this song best Bond theme along with Shirley bassey and "Goldfinger"...

  • best song along with Duran Duran movie

  • View to a kill.. Yeah that is a great Bond them.

  • best song, best bond movie. what else can i say? Amazing!

  • Best Bond movie????????

  • This is one of my favorite Bond movies. It had a pretty good story. Robert Davi and Benicio Del Toro played very good villians. And Carrie Lowell was hot. Definitely a good opening song, but my favorite is still "A View to a Kill"

  • I do not remember Benicio del Toro being in "license to kill" Now you know I have got to get this film. Thanks. I remember Robert Davi, though,

  • Maurice Binder is, hands down, without question, one of the greatest artists of all time.

  • how did you remove the text...or where did you get the textless titles are there anymore textless titles

  • It's one of the features on the "Licence to Kill Ultimate Edition DVD." This is the best Bond - song!

  • My favorite opening theme is either a view to a kill or you know my name(casino royale)

  • Sean Connery is the best bond ever.

  • easily the coolest Bond intro and best Bond song.

  • This song is still one of my favorites.Gladys Knight's voice is mesmerizing.

  • Without question, one of the best Bond main titles. Superb orchestration. Excellent visuals. Vocalist harkens back to Shirley Bassey.

  • "Got a license to kill, and I'm goin straight for your heart." Pretty much sums it up.

  • What are you all talking about? Why so serious!!;)

Worzel Gummidge would have a played a great bond!

  • I think dalton's type of character was just too ahead of it's time. It's a shame his bond didn't really catch on. His two are some of the most solid bond movies in the series.

  • To most people , timothy wasnt the best- but one fact does remain with everyone - HE LITERALLY IS THE COOLEST BOND

  • wtf brosnan fans will never learn... ok put it this way , if you matched timothy dalton next to daniel craig , dalton would still be cooler without doubt. craig cannot play a cool bond its not in his character , as for pierce brosnan he just flipped up at trying to be cool

  • man,wrf are you soekaing asbout? i am roger moore fan, everybody else sucks! :D

  • hey roger moore has to be one of my favourite bonds too you know! but timothy dalton will always rule out to be the coolest , but to everyone not the best

  • tbh, i think they r both good

  • they r both equally good

  • Best opening song ever!!!

  • Dalton was way ahead of his time.Craig is doing everything he was doing 20 years ago.D'oh!

  • guess i just like a serious bond lol

My ideal Bond put mission before woman and comfort。。。。

  • my personal fav

    Sean connery

    Tim Dalton

    Pierce Brosnan

    Daniel Craig

    Roger Moore

    George Lazenby

overall, they are all pretty good, it's just my personal taste....

  • Pretty good post.

  • Personally, all the Bonds have their own strengths and weaknesses. Chances are, your favorite Bond is who you happened to be watching when you got into the Bond films. My fave is Roger Moore, although my favorite Bond movie is Goldfinger, which is not a Moore film.

  • My rating:

    1. Roger Moore !!!

    2. Pierce Brosnan

    3. Daniel Craig

    4. Sean Connery

    5. Timothy Dalton

I never saw how's Lazenby's Bond so I'm not rating him
