oh my gosh my cats have been doing this to so many i just looked at my cat like 20 seconds ago and i go by him and i had the nerve to look but u see a lizard trying to run aaway but he bumps into my cat so i pick him up and he has no tail he runs to the corner of the living room and i look back at his tail and its still moving im like gross!!! so i put my cat out back and i put the lizard outside and then his tail it was so weird!!!
~"Aparently when their tail comes off it dosen't actually hurt, as shadowsA7Xme27 said below it is a defence mechanism and they deliberately make it come off when they are in danger so that the predator will go for the moving tail and they can escape. The tail grows back fairly quickly."~
OMG!!!The same thing hapend to me today!!!!Ok here is the story me and my bff were outside and we found a lizard on my pourch!!well my cat ate it well not all of it just has a cut well his tail is off i grabed the tail and it was still moving but it died just kidding!!LOL we are still taking care of it!!!!
It's called caudal autonomy, it is a defence mechanism for many lizards, the tail retains some nurological impulses so it will wiggle and catch the preditors attention and allowing the lizard to escape.
Get control of your cat so animals aren't harmed! I wish someone would chop the tail off your stupid cat.
