  • Two instrumentals were released. This one heralded their arrival on the international music scene. It sounds like bagpipes.

  • Great idea to use Black & White pictures for this upload..I agree...for some reason it just seems to work better! - Well done!

  • That was three divine minutes. A Bizarre Collection Of Puzzles by The Enigma.

  • ABBA was such a great band.

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this fine instrumental.

  • Memorable tune from the chart-topping Arrival ABBA album of 1976. Wonderful fusion of instruments and voices, and the nostalgic, catchy melody that i think has its roots from Swedish traditional music???

  • Really amazing song which grabs my heart !!! I can't belive its from Abba...Incredible

  • krejcik666 - I think Oldfield did not make a cover of it, it was written for abba by Oldfield. Anyone know better? Oldfield wrote the song while too young to agree legal contracts such as selling his own copyrights. So, later he decited to use the song, ABBA were not happy about it, of corse, but due to age the original agreement was meaningless. But, anyway, great song and great perform by ABBA.

  • @doddibraga No. This is entirely an original song by ABBA. Oldfield made a cover much later and had nothing to do with the writing of it.

  • i heard the pipes and drums of the argyle and sutherland highlanders and the band of the Royal Marines do this, if you can find it, LISTEN to it, its magical

  • THAT'S breath-taking colossal song.....Oldfield made a cover of it

    thank you for posting

  • love abba -kris from poland and england

  • This is a bagpipe tune. Does anyone know who actually wrote it?

  • @k0smon Bjorn and Benny from ABBA wrote it, it's an original ABBA song.

  • @k0smon Mike Oldfield did I think

  • @k0smon This is an original song written by Bjorn and Benny of ABBA. It's an ABBA original, the title track of their album Arrival. According to B & B, It was influenced by Swedish folk music.

  • Damn... ABBA were a band FAR ahead of their time, and now we can only live with the memories. The music is timeless. It is just as modern today as it was 35 years ago! Thank you ABBA - thank you for the music.

  • beautyful song

  • w 2009 -przyjechalem do szwecji-niema takiego kraju na swiecie -bylo zajebiscie

  • @abbachick Dalecarlia is not a person but a region in central Sweden. In Swedish that region is called Dalarna. Its a region famous for fiddle folk music!

  • Beautiful song; so captivating!!!

  • i can not grow out of this song

  • I can hear Agnetha & Frida sing the word Arrival the only ABBA song with one lyric.

  • Inter 1 - Glasgow Celtic 2, Lisbon 1967. Soundtrack to BBC's 100 Great Sporting Moments - "And glory hovers over Parkhead..."....

  • 'Dalecarlia' (only one 'r'): "dal" = 'dale', "karl" = "churl, guy'; "dalkarl" = 'dalesman'; "Dalecarlia" = 'the place the dalesmen come from', i.e. the Dales, an old construction from the Swedish from the days when Latin was the language of learning and international communication

  • Nice one chick!! I got the church organist to play this when my forthcoming wife came down the aisle..magical..You should try it.. G..

  • I want to do the same thing when I get married. I want to walk down the aisle. It is magical.

  • Hi! Dalecarlia is sometimes used as the english name of the swedish province Dalarna. A lot of the traditional swedish music and midsummer traditions are connected with Dalarna.

Orsa spelmän in BAO are from Dalarna, Orsa is a small city (village) in the middle of Dalarna.

  • Thank you

  • scooter - totaly splatted this one. yuck.

  • Always loved 'Arrival' instramental, as it showes the great song writing ability of B&B. I love your slides in B&W too, as it does go well with this great song. You found some pictures I hadn't seem before as well. Great job my friend! Very nice Helen!! 5*'s & fav

    -Dallas

  • Thank you Dallas

    :D

  • i like pics thanks. 5*****

  • Thank you

  • Very nice Helen. There are times when songs without lyrics are the only way to go, and this is one of those times. This song announces the "arrival" of one of ABBA's best albums. And I know what you mean about the B/W pics because they are also a favorite of mine. Once again, very nice work!

  • Thanks for your kind words.
