  • @halo3isawesome321 attached the person to an external "heart". It is a machine which performs the functions of a normal heart. It is a very complex machine, but it saves many lives.

  • I want to be a surgeon so badly.

  • omg

  • thump up if ur heart hurts a bit

  • i saw it beat...i had to leave room

  • So this is what I do at my future job...

  • what is that water called?

  • although, there's a complication where after they finished the surgery and they want to restart the heart...the heart don't start beating at all... it's hard being a surgeon...

  • stop the heart does mean that you kill the patient. Usually, there's about 5 minutes to spare before brain death from the moment you stop the heart. In order to operate the heart, we need to stop it first, or else the surgery will be very difficult. So, first, they created an artificial circulation that can replace the heart for awhile. they use either perfusion machine or heart-lung machine?, i think. then, they stop the heart using a chemical, something called cardioplenig?, i dont remember

  • im at that wierd part of u tube again

  • @halo3isawsome321 Those tubes you saw were connecting him to a heart blood machine, the blood is circulating through an artificial machine

  • my class had to cut a pig heart today and it was gross

  • it likes to wiggle

  • @awesomeshadow100 U R ON DAT HELLA BRAVE SHIT BUT DIS IS FAKE. U GOT TRIKED NIGGA

  • That is crazy!! im 18 now and had open heart surgery when i was 5 years old.. Its mind blowing knowing thats what i looked like during surgery!!

  • This is my carer ins2allah

  • wow!! this will be my future job

  • looked like a load of tweet/facebook muppets watching the operation.

side show bob lookalikes . just a weird video not very educational.

at least they were not allowed take pictures on their new smart phones,or take part in the operation, which im sure that most of them would of liked to take part in it.never mind the patient.weird questions and comments posted.

GET A LIFE PEOPLE IF THAT WHAT CIVILIZATION STILL CALLS YOU!

  • I would love to see that.

  • i like to finger bob my doody hole to this video...oh hell yea!!!!!!

  • @GRIZZLYMcFADIN2010 Your comment makes me worry about your concern about hearts....

  • nasty i say nasty

  • Yes, it is gory. It is also something that many people are not able to do. I think that these physicians deserve the utmost praise for overcoming these universal fears in order to contribute more to humanity in one day than most others in their lifetimes.

  • aaahhhhhh the Wellcome institute, were we cut your chest open and poke sharp things at your heart.

  • aaahhhhhh the Wellcome institute, were we cut your chest open and poke sharp things at your heart.

  • how can you not believe that a God exists after watching this?

humans are so perfect, and function with utter perfection.

    SUBHANALLAH!

  • wow it makes u give a tot that human science has come along way

  • im gonna do this in the future ...

  • SO THEY STOPPED THE HEART? does that mean they temporarly killed him?

  • @halo3isawsome321 actualy they dont deem someone dead untill thier brain has no activity, so no :)

  • @halo3isawsome321 not positive but i believe when they stop the heart the patient is usually on bypass which means that they re route the blood and artificially oxygenate it before sending it on its way. this takes the need for heart activity out of the equation.

  • @Duhello88 how do u all kno so much!?!?

  • @halo3isawsome321 No,the brain was still working.

  • @halo3isawsome321 yeh but only temporally

  • @halo3isawsome321 No they hook the arteries of the heart up to an artificial temporary heart, in order to bypass the heart, so it is not pumping any blood. Then they use a potassium solution to slowly stop the heart.

  • @halo3isawsome321 nope, the organs of your body can survive without new blood for about 10-15 minutes, so the person operated was never dead :P

  • @halo3isawsome321 the patient is hooked up to a bypass machine... so the body is still receiving blood and nourishment, but it's being oxygenated and pumped by a machine outside the body. so technically yes, they were dead, but the body and brain was still very much alive.

  • @halo3isawsome321 No because his brain and other organs still had oxygen stored in them, and they finished quick enough to not kill him!

  • @halo3isawsome321 Temporary murderers?

  • @halo3isawsome321 Yes, it's called a standstill surgery. They lower the body temperature to 60* and they stop the heart so they can fix the problem, and then they warm them back up and they resuscitate the patient. Hope this helps!

  • @halo3isawsome321 They circulate the blood with a machine, they just stopped his heart, he's very much alive.

  • Just wished I was there :(

  • amazing

  • poor guy fucking doctors

  • if you just left the person there with their heart wide open, they would eventually die...........right?

  • @x0ticShwty Bacteria, organisms, dust, etc - if it can enter the bloodstream it can have disastrous effects on the immune system/blood system, which could eventually lead to death.

Also, if not constantly moisturized, the organ itself would dry out, just like a slice of roast under sunlight - this would cause instant cardiac arrest, in which it would be extremely difficult to resuscitate.

  • lol if they had fucked up then, the whole world sees XD

  • I'd love to go see open heart surgery.

  • Of course, Mr. Obama thinks all of us docs are "millionaires and billionaires". Not sure who is going to want to go thru the stress, years, and expense to do this in the future as we get devalued...

  • Gosh, its amazing how steady these surgeons can keep their hands

  • ooooooooooooooooooooh?E?!?!!?!?!?!!?!!

  • This video makes me hungry. Double western bacon cheeseburger here I come.

  • Beautiful video and concept.

  • Meet our new heart surgeon Twitchy Dave!

  • Surgery is really amazing , I tell the doctors I work with that it's a art form.

  • They broke the sternum prior to the procedure and put it back together w/ nuts n bolts?

I like the idea of robotic technique... no scars

  • woman in initial interview...female peter pettigrew?

  • Ive had open heart surgery I had a hole in one of my chambers

  • I bet being a surgeon is Hella easy.

  • so thats what they did to me when i was 11 years old wow

  • and im worried about getting my wisdom teeth removed

  • thanks its a very useful for me DR Viniket Upasani

  • Stupid ads. Google ruined YouTube from the old days. YouTube was good back in 2006 until Google destroyed it and turned it into nothing more than one big advertisement for money.

  • I had my heart taken out of my body they woke me up and i seen the heart beating right in my hands And then they put another one in. so i am living with my heart in a real jar. Its still beating but blood is coming out of it.

  • @dimond489 cool

  • 0:00, thumbs up to skips adds

  • i don't mind the sight of blood. But i'm thinking whether i want to be a surgeon or a diagnostician. With a surgery everything can go wrong, unlike with just diagnosing someone.

  • @AJsessed A misdiagnoses can lead to DEATH and major criminal lawsuits as well.

  • @4Firearms thats why you study hard and half your pay cheque goes to malpractice insurance

  • @AJsessed im thinking the same thing, but personally, id go with diagnostician.

  • @AJsessed

All doctors, including surgeons, diagnose. Diagnostician only exists as a speciality on TV

  • its soo stupid how people over react on the sight of blood

    quit being Wusses!!!

  • @haloman2814 I think you'd like the show Dexter =)

  • this is very interesting

  • Fucking EPIC ! ! !

  • I WANT TO BECOME A CARDIAC SURGEON

  • i hope i dont have to dat.........

  • "I'm here because I'm a striving serial killer who wants to see how the human body looks like underneath the skin."

  • @8ballsix27 oh, and my grandmother has had this done TWICE to her. true warrior.

  • its wierd how people can open you up and stop your heart now adays

  • @PSUtotheBCS1 With a fork and a bag of sand

  • @PSUtotheBCS1 little known fact, chuck norris has preformed many heart transplants on himself

  • Wappo

will undergo a heart operation by next month. His oxygen flow in his

heart is not enough to support his blood flow. They will put a tube on

his heart to help his heart supply enough oxygen. We will be needing Prayers and also financial support if you could...

    Wappo's Heart Operation

  • Exactly what I want to be, a Cartiologist (or heart surgeon) im in medical school and am currently studying it

  • AmAzing surgeon.

  • I was going to watch this..until the Advertisements came out o.o

  • this was posted on my facebook wall... of all things.

  • i would barf into the guys body if i were operating

  • If I had to have heart surgery I would be scared silly but if it was going to save my life I would have it done. I've talked to people who said they didn't have any pain at all after surgery and others said the pain was terrible. They said the worst part is waking up with that tube stuck down your throat and pulling those chest tubes out.

  • @johnnynocaster I had open heart surgery when i was 11 and it was fucking scary trust me and i still have the mark on me it will be part of me until i die but it was worth it to save my life just like you said and here i am 2 day still ok now i can do so many things like other people i now :) and if i were you they take that tube of the throat when u are sleeping they take out the tubes from the neck hand private part ( men ) chest and much more when u are wake went through this

  • I had heart surgery , THE PAIN.

  • GRODY >.<

  • my father just got an open heart surgery on Tuesday where he replaced a valve and fixed the other, he's getting out of the hospital tomorrow but seeing how they work on the heart in open heart surgeries makes me love my dad even more for being that strong to go through this:')

  • My grandmas having blockage removed this way, That looks like it hurts

  • this is sooooo wierd bout me bc when veer i c blood i get REALLY grossed out

  • fuck ads

  • @starrodkirby1 Get (name of you browser) adblocker. After that restart your browser and boom, no more ads. period.

  • Lost soul

  • this is amazing im studing for this its about 10-16 yrs depending on what organ you want to to do but i choose this out of all

  • @vimithavalappil - usually if it's a certain type of open heart surgery they cut the sternum & muscles open and essentially break about 10 of your ribs, it's a fun time

  • yeah fuck anybody who says these doctors are "butchers". sure they get paid a lot and people get jealous because of that, but they're equally compensated for the amazing job they do. I owe my life to these kind of doctors and if somebody says otherwise I'll show you the real definition of butchering.

  • Mitral valve repair

  • At 0:50 that made me think about book #8 of the "Series of Unfortunate Events" The hostile Hospital

  • To become a cardiac surgeon, or any surgeon for that matter, you have to be a very, very good student with extremely good grades. After high school your looking at another 16 years of Schooling minimum. Everyday you hold peoples lives in your hands. Not anyone can just become a surgeon obviously.

  • thats hella cool

  • this damn slow loading video ugh!!!

  • I love how they have dressed in super fancy clothes to see some gory heart. Kinda funny. Bt this thing looks cool.

  • @skiracer110 maybe they expected to hear some classical music while operation is done

  • will the doctor cut the ribs or seperate it with something? can anybody tell me pls

  • @vimithavalappil the cut the sternum with essentially a circular saw

  • what happens to the ribs during open heart surgery?

  • I have just undergone this surgery here in Malaysia on last Sept.21/2010. I was so scared to death before agreeing, but now I am relieved where all my previous sufferings have gone. Thanks to medical science and the doctors!

  • @YapiKredi i agree well kindof this kind of stuff is not like entertainment it for like doctors and ppl going to medical school and stuff like that

  • i think im gonna be sick *barfs*

  • My surgery wasnt a piece of cake and their wasnt really any pain from the chest area. But the rest of me felt like crap. Ever get run over by a truck padded with thick foam and you will get the feeling i did. When they get you up to walk a few hours later, I Remember trying to walk a little faster and straighter in the hallway when i past some woman going through the same thing. Vanity never leaves!

  • why did they put so much water or any kind of liquid inside the body ?

  • @Azarel011 it's not water. it's to slow down the heart

  • Comment removed

  • is it weird that i was eating during this?

  • @dumdum363 You have an amazing ability.

  • It is really beautiful work, but let speak the truth here! Open to the public? How much did you guys charge for each person to watch? Not is wrong with it, but I believe someone is making a a bunch of money with this live theater. Make good use of it and help pay for those transplants with it!

  • Everyone is just like.. 'Urgh i wanna puke' >_<

  • @xMariiam I have the same goal my friend.

  • @xMariiam too bad ur chick =[

  • @xMariiam i'm doing studies right now for surgical physicians' assistant and it's already 7 years. If you want to be a full blown Cardiologist your going to be doing about 12 years of studying.

  • OMG!!!

  • o my fucking god!!!!!!!!!! that shit is fucking disgusting

  • @oleark11 lol

  • @oleark11 well it's what's inside of you bitch >:D

  • I hope, i never gotta make one op like that.

  • i would never be able to operate on someone knowing that if my hand slips or i mess up then he'll be dead

    mechanical engineering FTW!!!

  • :/ it makes me wanna puke out my own guts( no offence if any of you have ever done so) but i hope that this nver happens to me :( i dont wanna go to that and have the doctor puncture my heart with one of those things :( expecially if the person that is doing the surgery hates me and wants me dead!!!!
