Using just one of these my family eats 3 meals a day. It works out to 1 watt per meal. If we were to pedal power this it would only take 10 min of pedaling per meal! We can convert starving countries to food generating cyclists!
This is not true aeroponics...it's DWC (Deep Water culture)! You don't need to buy an expensive system like this if you already have grow lights. A plastic tub, an air pump, an air stone...BOOM...more bang for your buck! Do a google search for DYI DWC for free building plans.
dwc IS the shit, though. rexenne nailed it. you can buy a cheap air pump, a rubbermaid container, and a stone. you need baskets, and something to cut holes, but thats about it. sprout your seeds, (or cuttings) transfer, and fire your light.
Maybe good for starter plants, but TRUST ME; if your serious about it, build one yourself. One thats big enough and has better lights. You can make a DWC/CD system for just as much that does a 1000% better job, but the lights are going to cost you. With a good 400W HPS ballast, there will be nothing to stop you. PLUS, you'll have bragging rights to the construction and full growth... As well as learn ALOT along the way.
