  • Stop right now and get to the hospital, because your palsey is acting up again. Good Lord, were you standing on a beach ball? You should display a warning that this video has been known to cause epileptic siezures in children. Wow.

  • No drinking before filming next time!

  • Man I got sick after I watched the fucking video!!!....tripod please!!!

  • Digital zoom sux!

  • I will say one thing, camera-man.....tripod!

  • shame lockheed never made a passenger version ... it came out a year earlier than the 747, then they go and design the l-1011 from scratch

  • Camera work courtesy of Michael J. Fox.

  • It never seems like the C-5 has enough speed to takeoff.

  • tripod....cough cough.....

  • @Midwestairshows so can I. I have video of concord taking off. First time at Oshcosh. needless to say skies were cleared before takeoff

  • @Midwestairshows so can I

  • I think I have motion sickness....

  • I live in Dover, Delaware i'm so used to that sound i hear it at lest 3-4 times a day

  • hey asshole, what are you doing, what happened with you? dont do it anymore! don't take camera

  • camera guy is hammered!!

  • "DUDE! THAT WAS LOUDER THAN AN AFTERBURNER!" LOL, Stupid

  • @ shin0u fck u

  • Love the sound of the fan jet engines, one of a kind sound. An F-15 afterburner will mute the C-5 engine and I've been around both during my career.

  • Gotta Love that Grinding Chopping Sound...

  • I was stationed at Lackland right across from Kelly...and the C-5 is MOS. DEF.LOUDER than F-15s...even at full afterburner

  • Hey pal you did an AMAZING job shooting this scene...its NOT easy at all to capture something that BIG n FAST... ;)

  • Too much zoom, no stabilizator = > DISLIKE

  • im used to that noise, grew up around an air force base, used to see c5 planes, and jets, take off every day and night.

  • I love sound the c-5 taking off! It sounds alot like the Take off sound of a DC-10 taking off!

  • WHAT A VIDEO SHIT ! SHAME ON YOU !

  • Shaky camera work....ruined.

  • hahahahahahaha it sound like an rc plane hahaha

  • This is a C-5 Galaxy.

  • camera man suck big hairy balls ..

  • 133,639 for suck a shaky video???? wtf stop spazing noob video skill

  • C5 no mistake, no other plane on earth sounds like that.

  • if you could please limit arm spazzams when recording zoomed in it might make it better

  • It still amazes me how these murfuckas weighing so much manage to lift off from the ground and defy gravity.

  • camera man blew a good video.

  • why u shaken so much?

  • could u suck any more at filming?

  • Cant you keep the camera still?

  • I consider the Galaxy to be relatively average volume. It's just the shriek that's ear splitting.

I once used the distinctive sound of a C5 to tell off a soldier.

He and I had a brief arguement where I insisted I was seeing a C5 and he was saying C17.

So I asked his commanding officer for a second opinion.

I'm told that he was breifed shortly thereafter on the differences between the two and asked how he could think it was a C17.

  • get the ahole with parkinsons away from the camera

  • the shaking camera didn't bother me at all. stop complaining, you fucktard

  • OMG hold that camera still & don't zoom in ............. this could have been a really nice video ....... ouch

  • Have a bit too much caffeine before the show?

  • Wow can ya shake the cam a bit more

  • WOW you must not have alot of camcorder experiance.

  • lol i used to live right next to DAFB and the took off all day every day lmao imagine being used to THAT!! its alot louder when your right under it sleeping lol

  • f!:) that was amazing. what a monster!!!

  • Got some eye shake ugh!

  • Somebody needs to cut down on the coffee! LOL

  • @Midwestairshows you got that right

  • Comment removed

  • What shit camera work, why would you post a video of you jerking off anyway?

  • Uh, that's a C5 (aka: "FRED") not an Antonov; duh.

  • The days of loud are coming to an end with the new engines.

  • Shit, the camera operator is piss-poor :(( A big thumbs-down for this one.

  • That is some noise SOB. Yikes!! So much going incognito.

  • Wow!! All that shaking gave me a headache. The camera dude has no clue about using a camera. Take some lessons Dude. Seriously!

  • I highly DISAGREE with that kid, in the video, that Boeing 747's do that. I've flown quite a few of them, and they don't come even CLOSE, to making that "spooling & twining sound" to there engines. The only commerical aircraft, that even come remotely close, are the Airbus A-340 & Boeing 777.

  • The old 747-100's and -200's used to make a similar sound, but not nearly as loud as the C5. I live by SFO, and I can remember the older 747's taking off and having that sound.

  • Oh the SHAKING!

    Shame!

  • LMAO....

I love the comments on this video.

Turn on your IS on your camera, if you have it.

2007, did the video cams have then?

  • Too much raw &/or left handed crank will do that to you dude....

  • cameraman have parkinson hahaha

    nice video!

  • FUCKIN EARTHQUAKE!!!!!!

no seriously buy a fucking tripod.

  • Parkinson =)

  • I lived on Travis Air Force Base for 5 years, one of the bases these are stationed. The sound they make is so unique. I live near Keesler now, but one of these flys in every now and then, but when one is close, i can tune in on the distinct whir by the engines and can identify them anywhere. Beautiful machine.

  • @brianaquinas I heard that sound one day and it kept on getting closer and closer then all of a sudden this HUGE MONSTER of a plane comes from over the tree tops and scared the heck out of me...........I'll never forget that sound........

  • these are DEAFENING when they're like close. :)

I mean, try being ON THE FLIGHTLINE when they're taking off or landing. it's.. Yeah. :)

  • My GOSH, need some practice holding the bloody cam!!!!

  • The camera operator was probably on a beer binge when this was taped. We do lead the nation in binge drinking and brandy consumption up here. JIMAXair-please hold the camera steady next time. Quit drinking from your cup of Miller when you are taping this stuff.

  • For CHRIST'S Sake buy a TRIPOD

  • Hold that fking camera still.. I cant watch...

  • i dont join cause im too young and im fat lol

  • It's actually an "Antonov 500" even though theres no 500. It does compare closest to the Antonov 225.

  • Not even close to a 225... the 225 has almost double the capacity... they aren't even a little close and the next antonov would more likely be the 325 as there was the 125 now the 225

  • @JIMAXair Agreed, The Antonov is a beast and I give mad props to the crew that fly her. It takes hardcore skill get even get her off the ground. Same thing with the likes of the C-5. Imagine trying to land either one in some crazy crosswind.

  • @JIMAXair i thought the an-124

  • @fredozzy88 Listen to the commentator. Its a C5. An 225/224 has its elevators low on the body. You can clearly see the elevators are high on the vertical stabilizer.

  • @fredozzy88 @fredozzy88 Listen to the commentator. Its a C5. An 225/224 has its elevators low on the body. You can clearly see the elevators are high on the vertical stabilizer.

  • @fredozzy88 you are the antonov 500, thats a c5 dude

  • @fredozzy88 wtf is wrong with ya?

  • toekneef1, you are so lucky lol, that would be my dream house right by an airforce base, i want your house lol

  • @105Raptor why dont you join

  • Dobbins had a C5 camped out for the past week or so. Finally took off the other day while I was working inside of a box truck, the walls shook when it hit the throttle. Videos simply do NOT do these planes justice. The amount of power generated and the noise would knock the towel off of Osama's head!

  • You can tell he was nervous because that is the worst camera work I've seen. Can't blame him tho, must of been impressed.

  • Imagine having to fly a Cessna 152 in a pattern behind C-5's. I had to do that occasionally while I was training at TSTC in Waco, TX. I'm still alive. Gah.

  • lol i know the feeling except it was a cc-177 (c-17 globemaster) in my experience

  • Soo used to that sound here in San Antonio. We have C-5s do touch and go's at Lackland AFB regularly and when they fly over our house, literally everything shakes

  • Camera man is on PCP !!

  • take better videos

  • lmao...agreed. I was really spiffy that day in excitment as it was my first time in Oshkosh

  • CAMERA MAN, USE LESS ACID.

  • Uses soo little runway!

  • whoever held the camera failed to do it without it shaking

  • This air show is one of the coolest shows in wisconsin. If anyone gets a chance id highly recomend its just a blast.

  • One of the coolest in the WORLD...

  • Maybe would have been good if u could hold a camera

  • The camera holder had WAY too much caffeine, apparently.

  • video sucks cause u cant see anything because they dont know how to hold the camera still

  • obviously all of you have never heard an f 16 with full open after burners. An unhushed 727 is louder than that!

  • Camera man needs a beer , he's obviously having withdrawal symptoms

  • "Every 747 does that? You just don't hear it as much?" Seriously? Kid clearly has not clue WTF he is talking about.

  • waah waah waah..boo hoo :'(

  • And for the record i mean that by every 747 is huge, takes off, is reasonably loud, but you just dont get as up close and personal as it is here.

  • @JIMAXair I do, I work at an airport, one of the WORST airplanes to hear for noise and vibration is 727-200 even with hush kits the damn things are so noisey. I say that because F-18's don't come in that often when they do they are still a bit loud they don't shake the ground as much, but not for as long as the 727s. There are atleast 6-10 727s at night where I work. they have to land on 13 or 18 and then take off on 31 because of the noise, but if its too windy they have to fly over the city

  • @JIMAXair anybody that gives someone shit online might as well be in the special olympics....even if you win, your still retarded

  • @uthalo876 i know! haha

  • @uthalo876

I lived on Elmendorf AFB in Alaska, and have witnessed 6 F-15's flush to meet the Russians every time they got close to intruding in US airspace. This kid says that C-5 taking off is louder then afterburner? He has never seen or felt a half dozen fighters taking off in full afterburner then. Not only can you not hear your self think, but even from a mile away from the flight line you still feel the shock waves.

  • @uthalo876 No a 747 does not have the same engine as a C-5. The C-5 does or did a year ago have a distinct sound.

  • Awesome vid, my Dad fly's the C-5 out of Travis!! BTW, you can climb a ladder up the inside of the tail to the top and see for miles from top of this beast.

  • hahaha now looking back at this vid i laugh at the shakyness of it haha sorry guys.

  • i CANT watch this due to the shaking. one star

  • u should go to the doctor for you cataracs.

    or buy a tripod.

    just a suggestion.

  • "that was luded than an afterburner"

i couldn't agree more.... i saw one do i flyby at BNAS in maine years ago. it had the flaps out and full at full throttle. scared the living hell out of me

  • dude, camera man sux

  • Im air sick

  • sweet plane, too bad you had a monkey working the camera

  • my dad flew these in desert storm! i got to get into the cockpit of this monster one time at dover. such an amazing piece of engineering the c5 is.

  • yep. I hear this almost everyday. Always a spectacle to see something so big get off the ground. And when the airstrip is less than 2 miles away and pointing at your town....its just loud.

  • Have you missed your beer or too much coffee for breakfast or why are you so shaky?

  • Cool plane. Mix in a tripod next time.

  • Turely a beastly aircraft...

Wish we had the mirya though.

  • lolz werd!

  • The noise sends shivers down my spine. Awesome.

  • very cool

  • The size and sound of this wonderful aircraft makes it an American icon. It's a shame that the upgraded C-5M's will not have the typical grinding noise of the engines. But on the plus side, each of the new engines will add 10,000Lbs of thrust. They can also fly longer and are more fuel effiecent.

  • if you can imagine the C5 in its old age is 6th in wingspan and 5th in payload.

    1. An-225 Mriya 1,300,000 -

    2. Airbus A380 1,230,000 -

    3. Boeing 747-400ER 910,000 the 747-8 under development will reach 960,000 lb

    4. An-124 Ruslan 892,870 -

    5. C-5 Galaxy 840,000 wartime only, peacetime TOW is limited to 769,000 lb

    6. Airbus A340-600 HGW 837,755 high-gross weight variant

    7. Boeing 777-300ER 775,000 highest available weight, loading restrictions apply

  • It would be nice if you could learn how to hold a camera still...............GEEZZZZ

  • i love it lol

  • Thats the most awsome plane in the whole world.

I just hate the squeeling noise after it goes by.

  • very interesting. thats pretty cool man

  • My dad was in the air Force, so I used to fly on these things when I was a kid, and they are HUGE. The inside is like a stadium. I used to make meals for the pilots, too, and I would watch them take off and land all the time. Totally awesome. They were always breaking down, though.

  • Love the metallic growl. Only C5 got that.

  • Your definately right. I don't even have to look to know it is a C5!

  • PLEASE, get e tripod, or at least a monopod. You will have 100% better videos. Thanks for posting.

  • quit shacking the fking camera, bitch

  • Christ your a shakey ass ... have a drink lady

  • like ur mom

  • huhhh, that was louder then a afterburner,, retard

  • lol

  • you know its amazing how this plane takes off during an earthquake. WOW amazing pilot skills.

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • Same itd be pretty sick but i still c a ton of planes land in chicago

  • Oshkosh, my hometown! Wish I could have seen this behemoth take off, so thanks for the video. I wish I could live very near a strip where these giants take off and land everyday.

  • hahaha that would sure be something id like to expirience :)

  • On a dark rainy night having one do a low approach over you is something you wont forget. It sounded like it was headed straight for me.

  • we all would :)

  • man the c-17 is a cool plane i wouldd love to fly one of thoses

  • yea sry bout the shakyness but yea ther both cool nd i agree with the sound

  • This is an awesome video! Even though the camera shakes a bit,it is nevertheless a good shot. I love this airplane, the C-5A Galaxy, and am sorry that it was replaced by the C-17. I personally like the sound of the engines as it takes off. Thanks a million for sharing it here. As an Air Force brat, I used to watch it take off from anywhere whenever I had the chance to do so. Awesome once again!

    Ken Palmer

  • C-17 replaced the C-141

  • I find it funny when people talk like they have first hand Knowledge! For one the C-5 holds 36 Pallets the C-17 holds 18. The C-5 has longer range but they both can air refuel! But then again I fly the C-5 for a living! Mostly I am just glad to see someone got a good video of our departure as we headed off to the Dayton air show.

  • try less shake shake a videocamera..

    it is hurt my eyes

  • I rode on one of these beasts back in '71 from Dover AFB to Ramstein AFB, what a trip. The passengers sit way up above the cargo area. No windows was a bummer.

  • I like how some of the seats actually face backwards too. That was fun.

  • Too bad the guy taking the video cannot stop shaking!

  • I'll take a C-17 over this anyday... thanks.

  • the C17 cant lift as much or fly as far as this big boy

  • Did I say I was going for distance or lift capacity? No. So your comment is pointless. Thanks for playing. No more try for you.

  • does it matter? you made a comment...i made a comment about your comment. Mines is legit....so is yours. Weather or not you stated any distance or lift factors means nothin. This is youtube playboy....if you dont like your comments being commented on, dont post them....

  • well you see you're retarded because they have about the same range and the c 17 can takeoff and land in a shorter distance. fuckin idiot

  • lol!

  • i'll take a C-17 as well, hands down

  • Yea the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy is a beast..i wish i could be there :( i luv it ;)

  • Love seeing the C-5's, any day. They are very loud for sure... Saw one take off today in Portland, Oregon.

  • i went inside one of these at the Andrews AFB show this year. HUGE!

  • I love this airshow going there Tommorow!!! Oshkosh 2008!!!

  • awessome yea i went this year 2

  • I saw the C-5M for the first time taking off from Dover AFB, Delaware back on May 14 of this year. Even though it is a must, according to the U.S. Air Force for the C-5 to undergo these modifications to continue service operations beyond 2020, hearing the new sound from the new engines on the C-5 was a very awkward experience. Having lived in the Travis AFB area from 1973-1980, and Dover AFB from 1981 to present day, this commercial airline sound is going to take some getting used to, if ever!

  • are they really serious about building a new C-5?

  • try to get video of it. I would love to hear and see it.

  • Ladies and gentlemen... the WORLD's Shakiest Camra Man!!!!

  • the oshkosh airshow has the best shows in town! that's if i were there lol

  • so THIS is what an airshow would look like if i were having a seizure.

but jesus christ that is a plane. my God.

  • I remember as a kid living at Travis AFB CA. during the 1970's, hearing the C-5As, C-141As (with the old white top paint scheme) and the KC-135As that were stationed there at that time. Even though all three types of aircraft were loud and each had their own trademark sound, it was the KC-135As with the old water injected engines that stood out. These planes had a thunderous roar and would leave a long trail of black smoke long after disappearing out of sight. Aaahhh! Those were the days!

  • You said it.

  • Yeah...with them General Electric TF39-GE-1C turbofans generating 43,000lbs of thrust each...and capable of swallowing 42 tons of air a minute at max. takeoff thrust...I'd plug my ears too.
